[Recasting] Adunation: The Cosplaying Connection | Kingdom Hearts/Original Fiction VN-Style Video
Project Overview
SUMMARY
This project will be presented as a video in the style of a visual novel, to be released in parts. The plan is to upload each part to YouTube. If YouTube's content ID system becomes an issue, YouTube will be used as a bridge for the content, where a preview video will be uploaded along with a link to the episode on Google Drive for viewing or download. This project heavily features characters and elements from the Kingdom Hearts series, entering the KH canon around the beginning of 358/2 Days. It explores the idea of Earth existing in a similar type of universe with multiple separate worlds. Organization XIII discovers Earth and infiltrates it via anime conventions, where they can more easily blend in. Their investigation of Earth culminates when one mission goes awry, and as they leave Earth, they are followed by Phil LaRave, Kendra Medias, Tsuna Hiromi, and Tony "Zuku" Szukulski. The Kingdom Hearts timeline is derailed by this influence, and begins a new series of events that combines with original fiction.
HISTORY
What started as an RP called "Kingdom Hearts: The Cosplaying Connection" back on February 16, 2007 has evolved and grown into something broader than its original setting, spanning multiple chapters and continuations of the story. This is technically a reboot of the series. However, I do not currently have plans to turn all subsequent parts into videos like this one.
EXPECTATIONS
-
Don't audition unless you're prepared to be committed to the project! You MUST be available to record on a consistent basis. -
Lines will be recorded during directed recording sessions. This will be a better use of both your time and mine, to ensure fewer takes and to help expedite the process. - The quality of a performance will be prioritized over imitation of a character's original voice. An effort to sound like them in your tone and vocal mannerisms is great, but don't let that cause your delivery to suffer.
- Have a good microphone, and avoid background noise, pops, peaks, etc.!
- Quick, clear communication is a must. If you're cast, get back to me as soon as you can and be prompt with your responses. I will need an email address that you regularly check, as well as your Discord (preferred) or Skype.
If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask!
When you are logged in, you can comment, add submissions, create projects, upvote, search open roles, and way more. Login here.

Due to impending site changes, this is now a Five Nights at Freddy's project. Please stand by as the story is reworked. Thank you for understanding. c;

Final Week!
As of the time of writing this, there are seven days left until the end of primary auditions! I've received so many amazing submissions from you all, and I'm going to have some difficult choices to make next week, for sure. To all of you, from the bottom of my heart—even if you don't get cast, thank you for your interest, and for taking the time to contribute an audition to this project! Briefly, as a reminder, I want to go back to "primary auditions." As I mentioned in my previous update, any characters who are not cast next week will extend the audition deadline beyond the end of March. Further details can be found in the aforementioned update. My last item is something that is given a nod in the project description, but I want to go into greater detail. For those of you who are cast [I'll repeat this in a comment when I cast you]: I will need you to send me an email. Ideally, I'd like at least two methods of contact—email, plus another way to reach you if email is not the most convenient method. I've set up a Google Drive for [hopefully] easy sharing of the script, lines, etc., and I will also have a Discord server available for use. I don't use Skype, but I will try to be flexible if that's the best way to contact you. Thanks again to everyone, and good luck! -
Two small updates
I have pushed the audition deadline back to March 31, and suspended the project deadline. At the end of March, characters will be cast according to the auditions received at that time. The audition deadline will then be extended if there are any characters that are not cast; as for how long, I'm not yet sure. I don't want the project to get stymied by open roles, so I might ask those of you who are cast to audition for more characters, depending on how long it takes to finish casting. No one is obligated or expected to accept offers for additional roles. Also, I just wanted to note that I've swapped out the prologue preview for a more extensive look at how the video will appear, which covers the beginning of the story. Thank you to everyone who has auditioned so far! I really appreciate it!
Amount of lines: A LOT. He's a main character.
The protagonist. Medium, crisp tone of voice, typically casual and friendly. Can also come off as cold. Be prepared for giving explanations and throwing around pretentious words. Will swear on rare occasions.
[Explaining] To some degree, yes. There are parts of each realm that can only be accessed from another point within the same realm—even with a Dark Corridor. The Realm of Light is pretty easily accessed from most anywhere. The Realm of Darkness, on the other hand, is generally separated from everything.
[Ruefully, with a sigh] ...I know. I’m sorry. We did something good again, but it’s not attenuating—evening out—the bad things.
[Angry/Determined] They’re what’s left... They’ve just barely held on! This is their chance to be whole again, and we’re not gonna let you rip that right out from under them!
Amount of lines: A LOT. She's a main character.
The tritagonist. Medium to high tone of voice. Demure, sensitive, and amiable, but can be stubborn. Will swear on very rare occasions.
You ever meet someone, and instantly feel a connection—like you’ve always been friends?
[Amused/teasing] Ugh, you are the worst! I can’t wait to get back to Earth so I don’t have to deal with you anymore!
[Sorrowful] I know... It’s just been getting really hard not to think about it the past few days. I can barely even focus on reading.
Amount of lines: A LOT. He's a main character.
The tetragonist. Medium to high tone of voice. Friendly, impatient, and prone to outbursts of excessive volume. Will swear infrequently.
[Two versions, please: One angry, one surprised] What?!
[Determined] If it’s the only shot I have to get back home, consider it done!
You guys were taking too long! I didn’t have a choice.
Amount of lines: A LOT. He's a main character.
The deuteragonist. Medium tone of voice. Laid-back, charismatic, and a joker. Knows when to take things seriously, but prefers to keep the mood light. Has a tremendously foul mouth.
[Reassuringly] That’s right—there are people looking for us. And you know what? They’re gonna find us.
[Nonchalant/teasing] Whatever, that’s fine. I’ll be hanging out with my new best friend, Tsuna.
[Mock outrage] There’s no pleasing you, is there? 'Shut up! Don’t leave me alone, though! Why can’t I read for fifty hours a day instead of fighting Heartless?'
Amount of lines: A LOT. He's a prominent character.
Primary antagonist. Calm and collected, every word he speaks is calculated and deliberate.
The Organization has no need for weakness—be it in body, in will, or in trust. Members who are inadequate for our goals can be replaced.
At long last, the time has arrived. We see before us the great crystallization of all hearts—Kingdom Hearts.
Yes... Feed the rage, feed the hate with which your heart quivers!
Amount of lines: A LOT. He's a prominent character.
Secondary antagonist. Cold, terse, and all business. Has no time for trifles, and won't be trifled with.
It was merely a suggestion. Make no mistake—we wouldn’t 'bother' questioning you if we didn’t think you could provide useful information to us.
I rounded up and sent off to Castle Oblivion the ones who were getting in the way. That much should have been immediately plain to you.
Amount of lines: A LOT. He's a prominent character.
Member of Organization XIII. Casual. Jovial in a way that feels sinister. Loves the sound of his own voice.
Well, aren’t you a live wire today!
As if. This is a high-priority mission, remember? You got someplace to be, Tiger?
You don’t wanna be a Nobody, either? What a coincidence—neither do we!
Amount of lines: ~10-20
Member of Organization XIII. Gruff and no-nonsense.
What could you possibly hope to achieve by doing that?
Imbecile! The person seeing that outcome through your eyes won’t be you!
Amount of lines: ~25
Member of Organization XIII. Analytical, but often thin-skinned. Takes himself too seriously. High, raspy voice.
[Pleased] It’s what I do. I am a scientist, after all.
Data can be gained from even the worst decision, however. Let’s not allow their choice to go to waste.
Especially Marluxia. He’s only Number Eleven, and yet he carries himself as if he were a senior member—and without a shred of respect for me! Outrageous...
Amount of lines: ~10-15
Member of Organization XIII. Keeps his mouth shut and observes. Low growl of a voice.
Zexion, tell us. What did you detect?
We have need of only thirteen. The rest of you will be relinquished from your duties.
[Interrupting] Let it go, Vexen.
Amount of lines: ~30
Member of Organization XIII. Thoughtful and crafty, but predisposed to politeness towards his fellow members.
Yes, the state into which the Organization has fallen is regrettable. Let us remain vigilant against those that would do us harm, and make an effort towards promoting cooperation elsewhere.
[Mildly surprised] That scent... Darkness? Here?
This was Marluxia’s scheme all along. Spare us your contrived disbelief.
Amount of lines: ~40-50
Member of Organization XIII. Outgoing and laid-back, but never quite wears his mind on his sleeve.
Being turned into a Dusk—or worse—if you get on their bad side isn’t exactly my idea of 'lenient.'
[Slightly frustrated, calling to someone] Hey, what's the hold-up?
[When asked if he's up to something] Me? Not a chance. The only thing I’m interested in is getting my heart back. Got it memorized?
Amount of lines: ~10
Member of Organization XIII. Cowardly. Hates hard work, and would rather play his sitar.
[Protesting] But that would mean you get to go first!
[Genuinely asking] ...Who exactly are you saying are the unworthy ones?
[Dejectedly] Ohhh, I knew it!
Amount of lines: ~10-15
Member of Organization XIII. Casual, sociable, and sophisticated. British accent. Plays life like a game.
Welcome to the fold, Roxas!
I'd rather we just skip the formalities.
[Calm/sinister] Many of you have already proven yourselves inadequate through weaknesses of will or trust—and have never had a chance to attain your goal.
Amount of lines: A large quantity. Fairly prominent character.
Member of Organization XIII. Calm, manipulative, and suave.
Which of us has been told the truth, I wonder? Perhaps both explanations are lies.
There may come a time when you must choose a side. Be strong, and judge accordingly. You mustn’t let your judgment be clouded by your memories.
[Accusatory/displeased] It was never so simple after all. Is this everything you had hoped for?
Amount of lines: ~15
Member of Organization XIII. Sadistic, in a condescending way. Catty and enjoys getting a rise out of people.
Have a nice secret meeting, Mister Suspicious?
[Melodious condescension] You can go now, we’re done talking to you!
[Indignant] Excuse you?
Amount of lines: ~20-30
Whoever is cast will also be given lines for Ven, ~10.
Member of Organization XIII. Quiet, but friendly.
Hey, Xion... What happened to me?
[Somewhat defiantly] Why, because I can wield the Keyblade?
Maybe they’re memories of your past?
Amount of lines: ~20-30
Member of Organization XIII. Soft-spoken. Amiable.
I’m sorry... It’s hard to remember anything from when I first came here.
Anywhere by the sea, where I hear the sound of the waves...I get the feeling that I was talking with someone. Roxas sort of gives me that same feeling, too.
[Doing a spot-on impression of Xemnas] I acted to gather those seven lights, just as I prepared thirteen vessels to fill with pure darkness.
Amount of lines: ~20-30
A Nobody in the service of Organization XIII. Reserved and soft-spoken.
I’ll make sure Sora gets home safely.
Though his heart isn’t whole, enough of it remained for him to see you off.
Amount of lines: ~40
Swordsman, and denizen of Hollow Bastion. Often brusque and reserved.
I hate to ask since you just got here, but while you’re around, would you mind lending a hand with the Heartless?
You’re improving—both of you. Be glad you have even a little skill.
You can’t go outside by yourself. There are Heartless around.
Amount of lines: ~20
Denizen of Hollow Bastion. Kind, gentle, and upbeat. Soft-spoken, medium tone of voice.
The barriers between worlds had been torn down by the Heartless, but were restored a few days ago. We’ve only been back here just as long.
[Admonishing] Keep an eye on them, but let them be alone right now.
The town is already so much livelier! I bet they would get along well with Sora.
Amount of lines: 7
Denizen of Hollow bastion. Peppy, brash, and cheerful.
I’ll go check on her. We had a few Heartless to deal with before we came back.
[Greeting] Hiya!
Meet the Hollow Bastion Restoration Committee!
Amount of lines: 14
Denizen of Hollow Bastion. Cordial, if not a bit easily annoyed.
It’s a pleasure, lad.
Don’t be ridiculous! Even if I could, I wouldn’t make use of the power of darkness.
I’m afraid you’ll have to remain here until I can find a way to return you home.
Amount of lines: 4
Denizen of Hollow Bastion. Gruff. Southern accent.
Where do you think you’re goin’?
Found another one, huh?
Ain’t you a sturdy one.
Amount of lines: ~10
Hero of the Keyblade. Friendly, outgoing, and self-sacrificing.
His voice as heard in either the first Kingdom Hearts game, or any subsequent ones is acceptable.
[Reassuringly] They’ll be able to find me no matter where I am. It won’t be the first time!
My friends and I will take care of it, no sweat!
Amount of lines: ~20-30
Heartless counterpart to Xemnas. Obsessed with darkness and its place in existence. Deep, growl of a voice.
This world has yet to give up all of its secrets. Will you disparage our curiosity?
If he accepted his darkness, but still met his end, it only proves that he was unworthy of its power.
Your Heartless accepted us, and led us from our demise itself! Submit to what your darkness has wrought!
Amount of lines: A relatively large quantity.
Keyblade Master. Medium, clear tone of voice. Kind and steadfastly loyal.
He had lured the three of us to the Keyblade Graveyard and attacked us. That was where Ven fell asleep...and where Master Xehanort stole Terra’s body.
[Sorrow/surprise] It truly has been ten years... All that time, lost in the darkness.
In order to keep him safe while he slept, I sealed him inside what remained of the castle at our home, using the Keyblade to transform the land.
Amount of lines: ~5
The will of the Keyblade wielder, Terra, bound to his armor. Medium tone of voice. Not clearly conscious.
Aqua... Ven...
My mind... The only thing...Xehanort couldn’t take from me...
Amount of lines: A large quantity. Fairly prominent character.
An aged wizard, who becomes a mentor to Tsuna. Medium to deep tone of voice, which still retains strength, despite his advancing years.
I used to be an adventurer—though primarily for my own edification. I lost count decades ago of how many worlds I visited.
It is only now, after so many long years, that I realize how frivolous trophies are. The most valuable things with which you should fill your shelves are memories. All else is only wasted collecting dust.
[Amused] I beg your pardon again, my boy. I seem to be in a particularly jocular mood today.
Amount of lines: ~30
Mysterious girl who has lost her memories as the result of an ordeal. Medium, exhausted tone of voice. Would be strong and sociable, if she weren't constantly weary.
I’m not quite sure where I came from...or who I am, honestly. My name is one of the few things I know about myself.
[Grateful] Here we all are, cast away from home. I take some small comfort knowing I’m not alone.
[Cordial] If you get into any trouble, shout for me. The Heartless will be running scared when they see me coming.
Amount of lines: A relatively large quantity. Fairly prominent character.
The Nobody of a priestess, who now seeks the restoration of her heart and world. Medium to deep, authoritative tone. Strong and proud. Bitter about what has befallen her.
In Albedo Falls, I am a priestess—a pillar of society and a source of strength to my people.
You’re content to let people continue falling into darkness and being stripped of their hearts because of excuses?!
[Quietly/sullen] Is my faith wasted in you, as well?
Amount of lines: A relatively large quantity. Fairly prominent character.
Mysterious leader of Chaos, an organization that protects the worlds. Deep tone of voice. Stoic, but not robotic, he is collected, commanding, and firm. His by-the-book nature comes across as coldhearted, but it is simply his devotion being mistaken for a lack of compassion.
This is your one and only warning: Make preparations and return to Earth in the same state that you all left it, or we will forcefully escort you back.
[Forcefully, but not yelling] That’s enough! I won’t have you barging in here and making demands!
Couldn’t stay away after all, could you? Come quietly, and we won’t be forced to take offensive action.
Amount of lines: ~20
Reid's right-hand man. Medium tone of voice. Sounds much less cold than his superior, but is nonetheless businesslike.
Almost complete—only a few stragglers left. We should be clear to intervene at your discretion, sir.
Took a few minutes to get back in range. What’s the situation?
[Calmly ordering] Stand down—everyone.
Amount of lines: ~15-20
Captain of a kingdom's royal guard. Medium to deep tone of voice. Stern and confident.
You, there! What business have children in the Badlands?
The foul mage has been arrested by the royal guard, and we’ve forced him to undo his magic.
I’ll need you lot to return with us to the kingdom, however. Can’t leave you out here...just to be sure.
Amount of lines: 10
Kendra's friend. Medium to high tone of voice. Caring and good-humored.
We just lost you three seconds ago! Are you TRYING to get me killed by your parents?
Fine, just make sure you can hear your phone if we need to call you.

Floating on the edge of despair
Eyes still twitching even in sleep
Fact and fiction connected and reborn
Reality breaks with a plangent scream
Destiny binds us in its chains, but
Freedom awaits if we have the key
It's a fantasy program long forsaken by the gods
So now, eins zwei drei
Soon we will synchronize
So now, eins zwei drei
Escaping our demise
But if we stay strong; keep our courage
We'll find a way to gain victory in this ERASER GAME
Or spiral out of control...
