It's a quiet December in a nice small town, or it was until the famous singer and song writer Max Surley came to town. He decided to come to a small town to find inspiration, and decided to hold auditions for a duet partner for his brand new Christmas song. When Carol Light hears of this, she explodes of excitement in front of her best friend Molly Brown. Molly didn't seem as excited as Carol though. The two friends go to work at their small shop. They later learn that Max Surley was unpacking all of his instruments and things within the building next to them. This allows Molly and Max to connect. How will things go? Will Molly and Carol audition to be Max's duet partner? If so, will they get the part?
This is a story based of a Hallmark movie. Which one? It doesn't really matter because it has the same general plot as all of them. This one has a little more to it though. So look forward to that. I decided to create this story because I'm always making darker stories, and I needed a nice break from the darkness for Christmas.
Rules:
- Do more than 1 take of each line. If you don't, I'll still consider you, it will just be less likely that you get the part.
- Have a decent mic.
- Use as much emotion as you can. This is a love story after all.
- When auditioning, please remember that you will have to meet the deadline to turn in lines, so do not auditions for a role if you do not have time for it.
- Be willing to redo lines for me. This is my Christmas special. Christmas is my favorite holiday. I want this to be good lol
- Read character descriptions thoroughly and make sure to follow them while auditioning.
- Have discord. This makes it easier to communicate with you, and for me to give you updates about the progress of the story.
- If you audition for an extra, please submit your audition for all 3 of them. That will make it easier on me while casting.
- For the singers: I will not be providing sheet music. You will have to learn music while listening. You will only have to learn one song if you get casted as Molly's singer or Max's singer. The rest of the singers will have to sing the songs that are listed for that character.
- Realize that Christmas is a Christian holiday, meaning that there will be some references to Jesus. If you are uncomfortable with this, please do not audition. If you are, but you are a different religion, you are of course welcome to audition for this! :D

Molly is a calm and collected person. She is in her mid 30's and owns a small shop in a small town. She's a really talented singer, but she doesn't like singing in front of other people. She also doesn't get overly excited over the holidays. Her business partner and best friend, Carol, forces Molly to be at least a little jolly in the holiday season.
Molly has a calming medium-low voice. She could easily put people to sleep with it if she wanted to. She does still show plenty of emotion though. She is far from monotone.
(Shocked) Wait- That's Max Surely?!
(Happy) That's nice! It's why I love this small town so much. Everyone's so kind here. (Slight pause) Well, most of the time. (Laughs)
(Caring) Hey, thank you for everything. It means a lot.

Max has a comforting medium-low voice. It's the kind of voice that anyone can calm down to when they're feeling stressed.
(Grateful) That's what I heard, but your town was generous enough to let me store my things in there for a month or so.
(Laughs) Don't worry about it. She actually seems really nice from our little conversation we were having before you came out. Speaking of which.. (Turns to Molly) I never got your name.
(Stressed) You've got to be kidding me. This is going to take so much more work!

(Trying to calm down, but still way too excited) Okay, okay, okay. (Take a deep breath) So you know that one famous dude named Max Surley? You know, the one dude who makes amazing Christmas songs? He has other songs, but they aren't as good at his Christmas ones. You know... That guy.
(Upset, but caring) It sucks that I'm sick, but the show must go on. You have to take my place. (Trying to joke) Plus this might help you gain some Christmas spirit. (Slight giggle)

Cindy Lee is a 5 year old girl who lives in this small town. She is absolutely adorable and innocent. She is also very outgoing.
Cindy's voice is loud and outgoing. Her voice should sound like a 5 year old girl's voice.
NOTE: It is currently unknown how involved Cindy will be in the story yet. She is currently not in the script, but I'm also only a 3rd of the way into the script yet. She will be a part of the story and have lines though. What's a story based off of Hallmark without a kid having some kind of impact on the main relationship?

Dr. Jones is the town's doctor. They have formed relationships with all of the town's residents. He will do whatever it takes to make sure all of his patients are taken care of.
Dr. Jones is another character that can be either gender. Their voice would be medium pitched for either gender. They have a calm, and relaxed voice.
NOTE: This is another character that has not been put into the script yet, but they are fairly important in the story. They will definitely have a few lines.
(Welcoming) Hey! What brings you into my office?
(Apologetic) I'm sorry, but you have Laryngitis.
(Explaining) Laryngitis is the inflammation of your larynx, also known as your voice box. You mentioned that you had a cold earlier this week. I take it that's where the laryngitis came from. Don't worry. If you stay quiet for a few days, everything should be back to normal.
