Commercial voice over scripts
By Buford Taylor, who runs Casting Call Club. Updated October 2026.
These commercial voice over scripts are original practice ads for made-up products, written for this page and free to record and use in your demo. Each one lists a length and a read. Time yourself: commercials have to land on the second.
Warm and friendly (15 seconds)
Product: a coffee shop. Read: smiling, like talking to a neighbor.
"Mornings are hard. Your coffee shouldn't be. At Cobble and Bean, we roast every batch fresh, right here in town. Come in, say hi, and let us make your morning a little easier. Cobble and Bean. Your neighborhood cup."
Upbeat and energetic (20 seconds)
Product: a mobile game. Read: fast, fun, excited but clear.
"Build your kingdom. Train your dragons. Battle your friends. And then do it all again, because Sky Forge just got its biggest update ever! New islands, new heroes, and a dragon that breathes ice cream. Yes, really. Download Sky Forge free today. Your dragon is waiting."
Calm and trustworthy (20 seconds)

"Some days, everything feels like too much. That's okay. Stillwater gives you five-minute breathing breaks, sleep sounds and a quiet place to reset, whenever you need one. No pressure. No streaks. Just a little calm in your pocket. Try Stillwater free for thirty days."
Bold and dramatic (10 seconds)
Product: a movie trailer tag. Read: deep, slow, big pauses.
"One city. One night. One last chance. This summer... the lights go out. Blackout. Only in theaters."
Explainer (30 seconds)
Product: a budgeting tool. Read: clear, friendly, a teacher who likes you.
"Ever get to the end of the month and wonder where it all went? You're not alone. Penny Jar connects to your accounts and sorts your spending for you: food, bills, fun, and that one subscription you forgot about. Set a goal, and Penny Jar shows you exactly how close you are, every day. It takes two minutes to set up, and your first month is free. Penny Jar. Know where your money goes."
Tips for commercial reads
- Talk to one person. Picture a single listener, not an audience.
- Hit the time. A 30-second spot means 28 to 30 seconds, not 34.
- Land the brand name. Say it like it matters, every time.
- Record two reads, one conversational and one more polished. Clients usually ask for both.
Want paid commercial work? It pays more than most voice work, mostly to people with a polished demo. See how to make a voice acting demo reel and what voice actors make. There are more practice lines in free voice acting scripts.
