Anime voice acting scripts
By Buford Taylor, who runs Casting Call Club. Updated October 2026.
These anime voice acting scripts are original lines in the style of anime characters, written for this page and free to record and use in your demo. Anime reads are bigger than real life, but they still have to be honest. Commit fully, then pull back just enough that it sounds like a person.
Classic anime character lines
- The hotheaded hero: "I don't care if it's impossible! I'll keep getting up until you're the one who can't!"
- The cool rival: "Hmph. You've gotten stronger. Not strong enough."
- The cheerful friend: "Don't look so serious! We'll figure it out together, like always!"
- The quiet genius: "Statistically, this plan has a four percent chance of working. ...I like those odds."
- The tsundere: "It's not like I made this for you or anything! I just made too much. Eat it before I change my mind!"
- The wise master: "Strength without purpose is just noise. Find your reason, and the power will follow."
- The menacing villain: "How sad. You still believe friendship will save you."
- The comic relief: "Wait, wait, wait. We're jumping? Nobody said anything about jumping!"
Battle shouts and efforts
Name your own attacks. Push the energy from your gut, not your throat.
- "This ends now! Crimson... Tempest!"
- "Is that all you've got?"
- "Not yet... I can still fight!"
- A sharp intake of breath, a grunt as you block, a yell as you push back.
A dramatic scene
KAITO: You were supposed to wait for me. REN: I couldn't. They were already at the gate. KAITO: So you went alone? You could've died! REN: (quietly) But I didn't. Because I knew you'd come. KAITO: ...Idiot. REN: Yeah. Your idiot.
Try it as a shouting match that softens, then as a whisper the whole way through.
Tips for anime voice acting
- Watch the English dubs of shows you love and notice how the actors keep big emotions believable.
- Match the energy, then the mouth. In real dubs your line has to fit the mouth movements on screen.
- Don't fake a "cute voice". Play the character's feelings and let the voice follow.
