embercrest academy is visual novel style project that takes place in the near future in an alternate universe about a boarding school on a mysterious island off the coast of current day Southern California. A teen girl named Amelia is enrolled in the school by her parents for unknown reasons and she begins to to attend a month into the school year soon after her 15th birthday.

At the school she meets some long time students after getting lost and accidentally wandering into hidden spaces. Soon she begins to learn the mysterious history of the island and gains strange magical abilities.
