{Castaways} Fire Emblem: Fates Recasting
allen the ultimate gamer for M!Corrin
Voice Range: Medium-Low - Medium-High
Reference: Japanese / English
Our main character with as much personality as a sponge and intelligence of a shounen protagonist.
All kidding aside, Corrin is a righteous prince with a strong ambition; to end the war with no bloodshed. He seeks to save all that he can, enemy or not. He is charismatic when is needs to be and always kind to his friends and family.
I much prefer his Japanese voice over his English voice, although both takes are solid. The Japanese voice has a softer and younger tonality to it that really makes him sound like a young, naive protagonist whilst the English went hammy on the protagonist aspect.
This role has the most amount of lines. Do not attempt to audition if you know you will not stick to this character for a long time.
I was just thinking about my siblings. I’ve got quite a few. Do you have any brothers and sisters?
I'm Corrin—born in Hoshido, though raised in Nohr. I will fight for you with my Yato blade and dragon power!
(During a confession, other character ask about Corrin's feelings for her)
...Fine, I’ll give you an answer. But to clarify, I only started feeling this way AFTER you told me the truth about us. I love you, too...
I'd like some feedback once again for my audition on any improvements that could be made or if the audition was just fine.
The voice sounds a bit too young. I want a young adult voice. The delivery itself was lackluster. It sounds like you are just reading what's being said on screen rather than acting it out. It would help if you varied your speech pattern. There's a very consistent same tempo when you read it. There could be emphasis here or a stretch this this word here, so on so forth. In general it also sounded a bit too fast, I could hear words being lost. Really sit and let the character sink in rather than just going in for the audition. Most actors take days for quick auditions and weeks for larger production to practice before they actually submit their audition. Right now I don't think the character has sunken in. The best way to get into character is to get context of the situation around the character. Who is your character talking to? What is the subject matter? Why is he saying this? How does he feel when he say this? Overall, slowdown your speech and let the character sink in before taking a crack at the audition phase.
While I appreciate the criticism I think this time you might be going a little too critical with this one, you never really said I want Corrin to have a more young adult type of voice so how was I really suppose to know that he needed to have a less youthful voice when the range says Medium-low to Medium-High which the voice I used feels more in the middle, also with the line delivery I think maybe a bit more clarity at least on the first two lines would help as to how the lines should be said I only said them how I thought he would say them and I didn't want to come off as being too over the top cause you might call me out on that like you did with Percy, to me it's like it's required for you to know so much about the character when most of the time people will probably audition without knowing much of the character and more clarity on what you exactly want for Corrin would help those people. Now I will reaudition for Corrin with a better understanding of his character but to me I think with this type of feedback your kinda discouraging people who want to try this out for interest like just because you might not know much about the character doesn't mean that you can't do them right. I'll leave it at that and I'm not saying your doing a bad job I'm only saying that incorporating some of the things you told me in the description for Corrin would really help me and others who aren't Fire Emblem experts better understand Corrin's character and what you want.
My apologies. I assumed most people know that Corrin is a young adult from appearance. I already did put it for his age type and I did not believe it was necessary to have it in the character description.
Also I want to refute the " just because you might not know much about the character doesn't mean that you can't do them right." point you brought up. Character study is vital to acting. You really can't get a character right if you can't feel what the character feels. I think you meant it on lines of you don't have to play the games to know his character, which you are correct. However there are other ways you can look into the character. Personally I would just look him up on a wiki and read the character plot stuffs that they usually put on there.
