RWBY: REMNANTS [Fanmade Illustrated Video Series]
Maia Harlap for Cinder Fall
A mysterious, charismatic girl who recently enrolled into Beacon. She is classmates with Team RWBY and interacts with them almost daily.
This version of Cinder is much more morally ambiguous. It should not be clear to someone who has never watched RWBY (or better yet, an actual RWBY viewer) whether she is a villain or not. She is an up-and-coming star student at Beacon, surrounded by friends and admirers, incredibly friendly, charismatic and approachable, particularly towards Ruby - yet there is a definite aura of tragedy about her whenever she is away from the crowd and talks about her past, something she doesn't like talking about, but seems to trust a very select few with.
Cinder's personality is mysterious yet approachable. Her voice actor will need to be versatile enough to play her as an approachable and accomplished model student; an emotionally vulnerable young woman; and a person whose actions and words sometimes let slip an undertone of calculated malice. There needs to be a certain mix of youthfulness but also maturity to her voice, like a bright young woman who was forced to grow up too fast, through unspoken hardships.
Cinder's character song, for reference.
Another reference for Cinder (though, please don't take it as her accurate backstory)

[Talking to Team RWBY. Some of them (particularly Yang) don't really like her, but Ruby is friendly. Cinder tries to be friendly with them all regardless.]
"Heeyy, you guys. Heading out for a bite? Hey, why don't we hit the town and grab some pizza instead? My treat, of course!"
[Socialising/joking around in the cafeteria. Mercury boasts about how he pranked someone in a gross way, Cinder laughs along grossed out, and playfully jabs at him.]
*laugh* "You did what, Mercury? I can’t believe it, you’re so disgusting. Get off my team!"
[talking with Ruby in private, about their mothers. They're both sitting at a stairwell or on the roof together after school. She sounds soft and wistful, almost bitter.]
"You lost your mother too. I see… I don’t remember my mother much either… but I remember she was loving... kind… She was like an angel, an angel who carried me into this pitch black, unloving world..."
[reverts slightly to her more happy voice, but not drastically] *laughs* "Sorry. Got a little dark there... I should be keeping the bad poetry in the diary, haha..."
Amazing work. The third line really sells it, it really feels like you're having a conversation with her, and with the pauses I can get the sense of her thinking, reminiscing to herself. All around great performance.
Thanks so much for listening to all these. Again, I'm so sorry, I left the mouse clicks in like a genius ^^;
