Princess Jasmine is the deuteragonist of Disney's 1992 animated feature film, Aladdin. She is an independent, rebellious, and young princess from Agrabah, a Middle Eastern kingdom ruled by her father, the Sultan. As the future Sultana, Jasmine has a strong sense of obligation to her country. Because of outdated laws, however, she was forbidden to go beyond the palace walls and forced to follow unjust practices. Refusing to be treated like a sheltered object, Jasmine aspires to diverge from her societal confines and have a life where she is free to make her own choices.
"Please, try to understand. I've never done a thing on my own. I never had any real friends! Except you, Raja. I've never been outside the palace walls."
"Why, I'm sorry, sir. I don't have any money. [threatened] Please. I-I-If you let me go to the palace, I can get some from the Sultan."
"How dare you? All of you, standing around deciding my future? I am not a prize to be won!"
This is outstanding
Thank you so much!!
Ok, found time to listen to it. You have a nice voice and it instantly made me think of Jasmine, albeit older. It's really pleasant to listen to. If I had to poke at anything, relaxing your delivery will help these in general (I know stuff gets energized, but even that's kind of relaxed in how its delivered). Especially the third one, you don't need to emphasize every word when you yell. But, criticism aside, while I don't think there'll be a moment where you get like this as Jasmine in the manga, it is nice to know you can get energetic. But as a character thing to poke at, these deliveries also kind of feel like an adult's reaction. As tough of a princess and mature of a person Jasmine is on the surface, Jasmine is still kind of a kid. A sheltered one at that. So she will express those vulnerabilities and insecurities as that sheltered kid. The princess thing does come out like the third one. But, even then, she's the kid being mad that she's not being respected, she's still a kid talking to her concerned father about how disappointed she where she is in life, and she's still a frightened, helpless child trying to get away from the big scary man that's gonna hurt her. So, if you plan on redoing these lines or if I end up picking you to do the part for real, keep that in mind. Don't change the voice, though. Hope that helps.
Thank you so much for the feedback! I know it's too late to be submitting any redos (sorry, it's been a very busy week for me), but I truly appreciate you taking the time to do that. I will be sure to apply your advice to any future auditions I might encounter. Thanks again!
