Project Overview
Introductions
Hello! My name is FullAsianJay, and my co-director is KonoDeanoDa, but you can call us Jay and Dean respectively. We're two friends, who decided to try our hands at fandubbing scenes from different anime that we've enjoyed over the years, didn't receive a dub (yet), or wasn't all that fulfilling in English, given the type of scene that it was (These types of scenes we refer to are typically one's that had dialogue heavily altered, due to censorship). We look forward to hearing the talent from all the wonderful people, who audition! Remember, everyone, to have fun with these auditions! You can do it!
Brief Series Summary
Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V! is the seventh spin-off to the original Yu-Gi-Oh! series. The story revolves around Yuya Sakaki, a young Entertainment Duelist, who wants to follow in the footsteps of his dad, who disappeared before his big match, causing a lot of Miami City's population to bully Yuya for it. To escape this harsh reality, Yuya has put on a facade of smiling through the pain. Nico Smiley approaches Yuya one day for an exhibition match against Strong Ishijima, Miami City's best Pro Duelist. To make up for his father's disappearance, Yuya decides to go all out and make this duel a great show for the audience; however, things don't go his way, which causes Yuya to become depressed and fall into despair in the middle of the match. In response for his desire to win, Yuya's pendulum shines a bright light, granting him access to Pendulum Summoning, a never-before-seen and crazy Summoning Method!
Scene Summary
The duel has just begun! It all comes down to this final showdown between You Show Duel School’s representative, Yuya Sakaki, and the Leo Duel School’s representative, Reiji Akaba. Whoever wins this fight, will ultimately decide the fate of the opposite side’s school. The pressure is on, and right off the bat, Reiji manages to perform a Fusion Summon, while also utilizing the strange Contract cards for his strategy. This doesn’t stop Yuya though, as he is able to get out of dire situations throughout the battle and manages to keep the fight pretty even. However, Reiji decides to get serious and manages to prove why he's known as a prodigy.
Rules and Clarifications
Be sure to have decent microphone quality!
A helpful tip would be to take your microphone and computer to a secluded area, where it is compact with little to no background echo. This is to ensure audio effects that will be edited in post won’t sound out of field compared to the rest of the cast.
While the “Voice Description” tab may describe the general idea of what the character’s voice should sound like, that is only there to help the actor gain an understanding of the possible voice for that character. If you have another portrayal for that character’s voice in mind, then by all means, send it in! We may even like it better than what we originally wanted!
In regards to that last bullet, (This is probably obvious to some, and I apologize for redundancy) you can audition for as many roles as you want!
If you don’t get a part, don’t feel bad! We will take into consideration everybody that auditions! A person, who doesn’t make the cut, might just be contacted to audition for a character specifically or even asked to voice that character automatically (if they would like to)!
You DO NOT need to possess prior knowledge of any of the shows that these fandubs originate from!
Role Assignment
- Some characters, within this fandub, will appear in scenes from the series in the future. So once a role has been assigned to somebody, then they’re casted as that character for ALL the fandubs the character appears in, unless the actor is unavailable or says otherwise.
Line Recording Process
- Discord is necessary for the line reading process to flow smoothly.
We would prefer if the person reading the lines would have their Discord on the same computer that their mic setup resides.
This is so the actor can perform the lines live with Dean and I in the call, to get instant feedback and better direction.
For this, we will try to schedule a desired date and time for Dean and I to get into a call with the actor that works with everybody’s schedule!
If the actor doesn’t feel comfortable in a live call, then that is perfectly okay! They can just send in their lines through files and recordings! We just wanted to do the live call to provide less hassle for the actor, just in case we’d like the actor to reread their lines again or say the line in a specific way.
- A specific script will also be sent to the actor for their assigned character, with a more organized script, side comments for lines, etc.
Along with this, edited footage of whenever the actor’s character speaks will be provided. That way it’ll be a bit easier to match the lip flaps.

Character Description: Shuzo is an over-the-top and passionate man in his early or late thirties. He is the co-founder of the You Show Duel School but took over full time after the disappearance of Yusho Sakaki. While most of the time his students appear to be ahead of him, Shuzo demonstrates that you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover as he proves himself as a capable duelist and helpful mentor. He’s silly most of the time, but when the time for him to be serious arrives, Shuzo always delivers.
Voice Description: Because Shuzo is around his thirties, I expect him to have a deep voice with lots of energy. Kind of like Might Guy from Naruto.
Shuzo attempts to bring Yuya out of his depression, by challenging the boy to a duel.
"Yuya! Duel me right this instant! I'll beat that pessimistic mindset of yours outta you with my hot-blooded guidance! It's because of that attitude that you lost to Reiji Akaba in the first place!"
Yuya, depressed that he isn't the only one that can use Pendulum Summoning anymore, tries to run away from everyone to be alone.
"And where do you think you're going?! Yuya, you've been doing this ever since you were a kid. Every time you ran into a problem, you always ran! News flash for you, but reality isn't going to change, even if you run from it!"
Shuzo manages to Pendulum Summon using Stargazer Magician and Timegazer Magician, lighting his dueling spirit.
"I'll now set these two cards, Scale One Stargazer Magician in the Right Zone and Scale Eight Timegazer Magician in the Left Zone, in order to activate the Pendulum Scale! Now I can simultaneously summon monsters from levels two through seven! I Pendulum Summon! Behold the flames of passion from my burning soul! Charge forward! Guts Master Fire and Guts Master Heat!
Character Description: Yaiba is one of LDS’s top students and he excels within the Synchro Summoning category at the school. Because of this, he develops a cocky attitude, always thinking he’s above most duelists’ skills and will mock them whenever he gets the chance to. His skills are no joke and can back up his arrogance to a degree, which gave Gongenzaka a run for his money. Yaiba isn’t afraid to admit when he’s in danger and admire his opponent though, because he knows his strengths and weaknesses, most of the time.
Voice Description: Yaiba needs to have a sense of arrogance in his voice. I imagine him with a sense of smug and pride in the way he talks. His voice will be just a bit deeper, given that he’s young.
Reiji mentions Yusho Sakaki to Yuya, which surprises the latter, prompting him to ask Reiji if he knew Yusho. Upon hearing this, Yaiba couldn't pass up the opportunity to mock Yuya.
"*Laughs for a short sec mockingly.* Everyone knows your dad, of course! Your father is well-known after all - as the former champion, who ran away!
Gongenzaka begins firing himself up with his upcoming duel with Yaiba, to which the latter responds to this pre-ritual.
"Hey! Big guy! How long are you going to keep me waiting? That's a little over-the-top for a pre-duel ritual, don't you think? Heh, or is it because you're scared of dueling me that you want to delay your inevitable loss for as long as you can?"
(Director's Note: "XX" is pronounced "Double X".)
During his match with Gongenzaka, Yaiba begins to make his Synchro plays, causing everybody to go on the edge of their seat.
"Ha! What's with this Steadfast Dueling crap and you acting all high and mighty? I'm just getting started! Start savoring your last moments! I'm tuning my XX-Saber Boggart Knight with my Level Three XX-Saber Fulhelmknight! Warrior that wields the crossing blades of light! Trample over the mountain of corpses! I Synchro Summon! Enter this showdown! Level Seven! X-Saber Souza!"
Character Description: Hokuto is one of LDS’s top students and excels within the Xyz Summoning category at the school. He’s had a massive win streak, which aids in his superiority complex and arrogance. Hokuto even has a dangerous way of Action Dueling, timing his moves purposefully to where his opponents would get injured in some way. His pride is extremely fragile, which is displayed by him freaking out in rage over Yuya inflicting a small amount of life point damage towards him. After his duel with Yuya, he’s simmered down, but he still has his arrogant attitude.
Voice Description: Hokuto, I imagine, will have a nasally voice with a sense of pride within his manner of speaking. It’ll be a bit deeper but not too deep.
Before their match, Hokuto brags about his win streak to Yuya, in order to boast about himself and scare Yuya.
"You sure you wanna do this, Yuya? Take a look at my win-streak! I've gotten fifty straight wins over the year! *Sarcastic.* It's not like that's a ninety percent win rate or anything!"
At the start of their duel, Shuzo picks an Action Field, thinking that it'd help Yuya out, but Hokuto has to say otherwise.
"Ha! You picked Cosmic Sanctuary?! How dumb can you be?! This is literally my go-to field! This entire duel is going to go in my favor thanks to you!"
(Director's Note: "Xyz" is pronounced "Exceez" like the word "Exceed" but with the letter "Z".)
During their duel, Hokuto sets up all the monsters he needs for his next move against Yuya.
"Now that I have these two monsters out on the field, I guess you can say that the end is near for you, Yuya. I use the Level Five Constellar Algiedi (Al-gey-eh-dey) and Constellar Kaus to build the Overlay Network! Light of the stars, descend upon and shake this very planet! I Xyz Summon! Come forth! Rank Five! Constellar Pleiades (Plea-ah-deez)!"
Character Description: Masumi is one of LDS’s top students and excels within the Fusion Summoning category at the school. She’s the type of girl that is straightforward and direct with a person, which makes her appear to have an ego (while she kind of does), but most of the time it’s her being blunt towards the person and stating the obvious, even if it does hurt or comes off rude. Out of her and her trio of friends Masumi was not easily being fooled by the cover story of Professor Marco’s disappearance, tying in to her observational skills and her position as the smart one.
Voice Description: Because of her personality, Masumi will have a strictness to her manner of speaking. Her voice would be a deeper tone to match her not-easily gullible attitude but a higher voice than that could also work too.
Yuzu and Masumi are about to start their duel. Because of Masumi's bluntness, she comments about Shuzo's compliments to his daughter and Yuzu herself.
"It's hard to believe anyone would call someone like you 'dazzling'. Gotta say, that's some nepotism your father has. I mean just look at you. Your eyes have no luster at all. My father is a jeweler, and because of that, I've seen plenty of different gems in my life. So I can tell a lot about a person's personality by analyzing them. That's why I can tell that you have no shine in your eyes at all, and your heart is filled with nothing but hesitation!"
Upon hearing about Professor Marco's and several LDS members disappearances, Masumi has heard rumors about a black-masked Duelist being the source of the attacks. She decides to investigate herself and seeks out Yuzu, since she is possibly related to the attacker.
"Don't you know what's been happening in Miami City? There have been repeated assaults by a mysterious Duelist on several people, all of which happen to be members of LDS. None of them could say anything about what happened, because they all disappeared."
Yuzu begins to ask what happened before she gets interrupted by Masumi.
"They're all gone! Professor Marco and members of LDS's top team! They were attacked and never heard from again!...You know him, don't you? Please take me to him! Take me to the Duelist with the black mask, so I can see if the rumors are true!"
During their match, Masumi starts off her turn by utilizing her Fusion Monsters right off the bat, in order to gain the upper-hand against Yuzu.
"I'll go first! I'm activating the Spell Card, Gem Knight Fusion! With this card, I'm allowed to Fusion Summon a monster using two Gem-Knight monsters from my hand! The two cards that I'll be fusing are Gem-Knight Tourmaline and Gem-Knight Emerald! Shining Gem of Fortune! Beautiful Warrior with unwavering loyalty! Merge together in a bright light, and call upon a dazzling radiance! I Fusion Summon! Make your entrance! The Gallant Pursuer of Victory! Level Six! Gem-Knight Topaz!"
Character Description: Himika is a calm and diligent woman. She is the mother of Reiji and helps him run the Leo Corporation. Underneath her level-headed exterior, however, is a woman, who will not show any mercy towards anybody that stands in her way. This is evident in her delight to taking over You Show Duel School, even though they were a small school to begin with that wasn’t really well-off. Himika was at first a kind woman, but because of her husband, Leo Akaba, abandoning her, she decided to do whatever it took to oppose Leo in any way possible.
Voice Description: Given her position as a chair woman, Himka will have a sense of maturity and deviancy in her voice. On the outside she is soothing to have a business conversation with, but internally, she is sinister and merciless.
After Reiji utilizes a Synchro Summon, everyone is shocked to see that he knew how to use such a technique, everyone except for Himika that is.
"*Delighted* Perfect. Now the real duel can begin."
Himika berates the You Show Duel School for their incompetence and believes whole-heartedly that the students from her school will win. Because of this, Sora begins to insult the woman in retaliation.
"*Chuckles to herself.* Careful now, boy. You're talking to the Chair Woman of LDS. It would be wise to not address me with such a tone. After all, there are things that I can do to make you regret it."
After the events of the Battle Royale, Reiji and Himika begin to address the audience and their true intentions to prepare for the Dimensional War. Himika uses her charisma to inspire the people of the Standard Dimension to fight for their world.
"This may be sudden, but as a representative for my son, Reiji, I have an important announcement to make. We have a reason for canceling the tournament. In the midst of the battle royale, our world had been invaded by tyrants from a different dimension. These people are from an unimaginable world and intend to wage war upon us! We did not broadcast the rest of the battle royale, because we wanted to prevent the citizens of Miami City, no,...the world from panicking unnecessarily! Please understand, and hear us out."
Character Description: Sora is kid, who was top of his class and became an elite soldier for Academia. He is confident in his skills but hates it when there isn’t a challenge. In order to blend in with the Standard Dimension, Sora looked up to Yuya (at first glance) and self-proclaimed himself as his disciple. Sora is looking for a good challenge to entertain himself, but after taking a look at the LDS Trio, he decides to let Gongenzaka take his place, watching the matches for himself, simultaneously displaying his cocky attitude and his analytical/soldier-like nature.
Voice Description: Sora is relatively young and around the growing age. His voice will definitely be amongst the higher pitch, so a girl will most likely have to voice him. There are fandubs planned for his character in the future, some of the ones we really want to dub over are scenes involving his personality becoming a bit warped and crazy. So the voice actor must be able to portray this appearance and switch between this and his cutesy/normal persona as well.
Sora is in middle of his fight with Shun, attempting to keep up his happy, innocent facade.
"Why are you all angsty, mister? You need to relax and have fun with this duel! After all, it's all about making the people smile and showing them a great performance! So come on! Play along!"
After a few turns jabbing at one another, Sora reveals his true colors to Shun. His persona of being this sweet kid fades away and his nature as a sadistic soldier of Academia is brought to light.
"Ha! Aren't you getting a bit carried away there? Me being hunted? Don't make me laugh! I can win a duel like this with no problem at all! *Starts slipping into his warped mindset.* This is just child's play! That's all this is to me, a game! The same goes for my comrades at Academia! We hunted your people down for fun! You all were just easy prey for our hunting game!"
To make his play against his opponent, Sora typically uses Polymerization to fuse two monsters to bring out a better monster.
"It's time we brought something a little more dangerous to this duel, don't you think? I use the Spell Card, Polymerization to fuse together my Edge Imp Saw and Fluffal Leo! Blades possessed by demons, become one with the King of the Jungle and show to us your new form! I Fusion Summon! Behold! The Beast King that rips everything to shreds! Level Seven! Frightfur Leo!"
