Your Time To Shine: Island Existence (Your Turn to Die Substory!) [FANDUB PROJECT]

Project Overview

"12 people wake up on a deserted island with no idea of how they got there. They get told by the Island Master, Sue Miley, that they're on the Isle of Memories and they must survive there for 30 days before they can be released. With no other choice, the 12 agree to cooperate with each other, build shelter, forage, and fight monsters while getting to know one another..."

This is a fandub project of the "Your Time To Shine: Island Existence" game, a spin-off of the "Your Turn to Die" franchise. 

Considering the game has multiple endings, and is more or less luck based on which events happen, a Discord server/group will be organized in order for all the members of the project to participate and give their input. Gameplay will be recorded once everyone has settled and agreed on what shall be done.

 The idea is to have all endings and all fondness events be recorded and voiced for a more thorough experience for the viewer and the voice actors alike.

Do keep in mind that this is a passion and group project, meaning there will be no budget and that everyone will have to do their part in order for the project to come to fruition!

For the auditions, I have collected a few lines from the game itself from the characters in different situations (namely normal conversation, attacking a monster and getting injured) in order for the voice talents to be able to show their full ability when expressing different emotion. As a bonus, you can include a take of what you believe the character would sound like when their cut-in is activated for a more dynamic and exciting flair during the final project. The cut-in trigger voice lines I provide are merely examples: just say or grunt anything you think would fit!

Please feel free to use any voice you think would suit the character; the "voice concept" is merely what I personally imagined the character would sound like. Appealing to my personal tastes does not increase your chance of being cast, the conviction with which you audition and embody the character does. 

Requirements:

  • Have a good quality microphone! The idea of the project is to immerse the viewer into the world of "Your Time to Shine". If one of the voice actors has a poor quality recording, this will be harder to achieve. 
  • Commit to the project. "Your Time to Shine" is a relatively short game, but considering the amount of endings it has, the project might take some time to get finished.
  • Audition for anyone you like. You don't have to be a certain gender or age to audition for the character you want. Just audition for whoever you like!
  • Have fun! This is very much a passion project. We're all going to be working together because of our liking of "Your Turn to Die" and related media, so try to get along with your fellow members and enjoy the project!

    I still have not found the Nao I'm looking for. Because of this, the deadline was pushed back to the 17th, with the hopes that someone suitable for the role might come around.

    I didn't intend on making Ranger a character on this casting call since his role is so small and his participation in the game is entirely optional, but due to the sheer amount of auditions to characters with a similar voice range to his, I've decided to include him.

  • DEADLINE PUSHED BACK TO THE 12TH OF JULY

    Due to small improvements that have to be made to existing auditions for certain characters and the lack of auditions for others (primarily Jin and Rei), I have come to the conclusion that the casting phase needs to be extended. Since many of the characters have already been cast, I figured more people would apply for other characters that have very few auditions.

Character description: Kazumi Mishima is the main protagonist of “Your Time to Shine: Island Experience”. He is a high school teacher of about 30 years old and is considered a bit odd by his companions. Though his appearance is that of a “mad scientist”, he is incredibly caring and kind.

Voice concept:  Mishima is the oldest among the others, and his voice would reflect that. Something that expresses the feel of “nutty professor” would likely be ideal. Being a smoker, he would most likely possess some rasp in his voice.

Cut-in: “Ah, yes, yes!” / “Mwahahah…”

Voice concept:  Being an “average high-schooler”, Sara would probably have a young woman’s voice and demeanour. Medium voice range.

Voice concept:  Keiji’s voice would be deep, perhaps forcibly so, in an effort to paint himself as dependable and trustworthy. He most likely speaks slowly, yet firmly, and appears to behave in a flirty manner at times.

Character description: Reko is a successful singer-songwriter. She might appear intimidating, especially towards her male companions, but is gentle and caring towards the other girls in the group.

Voice concept:  Reko is the oldest female participant on the island, so her voice should reflect that, as well as her rough demeanour. A deeper tone would likely be ideal. Furthermore, she sings (or rather hums) at some point in the game, so if you are comfortable singing that would definitely be a plus!

Voice concept:   Nao would probably have a soft, high-pitched voice. Please try to give her an overall dorky nature, as well as some squeaks/voice cracks if you can!

Character description:  Gin is a 12-year old boy who latches onto people easily, though he can have a sarcastic and blunt side towards others. He usually gives other people nicknames referring to their appearance or personality. Gin adds “meow” and “woof” to many of his sentences when he speaks.

Voice concept:  Gin should have a young boy’s voice, matching his positive personality and young age. Add “meow” and “woof” to your sentences as if they were any other “normal” word to create a more natural flow to your speech!

Character description:  A “model prisoner”, Gonbee is a distrustful individual who usually acts on his own. He seems aggressive due to his appearance and manner of speech, but can be kind and helpful given the opportunity.

Voice concept:  Gonbee possesses a sort of rough exterior, meaning that would reflect in his voice and manner of talking. However, he also tends to also speak in a sort of feminine manner at times. Some voice cracks would probably suit him!

Voice concept:  Since we know nothing about Rei aside from his gender, any voice would be acceptable. The only time his voice will be necessary is when reading the diary he kept, and so a calm reading of the lines would be ideal.

Character description: Rio Ranger is a doll created with primarily negative traits. He feels bitterness and inferiority towards humans, to the point that he relishes in their suffering. He appears in "Your Time to Shine" as a radio announcer, making him a very small role. 

Voice concept:  Ranger has the appearance of a teenage boy, and thus his voice would most likely be that of a young man. His sadistic and condescending characteristics (as well as swearing) need to be incorporated.

[You can add as much swearing as you like to your audition, for example swapping "stuff" with "shit", adding "bastards" to any of his lines, etc.]


  • Hey, bastards! It's the Rio Ranger Station, bringing you some hot survival tips!

  • You ever see wood on the ground around the base? Pick that stuff up!

  • Foraging has the highest odds of injury! 'Course, if you just coop up indoors, you'll die.
