YAKANA - Thesis Film
Project Overview
YAKANA is an upcoming LCAD thesis film made by Nick Haymond.
Taking place in 1800s rural Korea, a young fox’s life changes when her mother gets hunted down. After following the hunter who took her mom, she enacts revenge.
YAKANA is expected to be completed and submitted to festivals by May 2026. I am looking for a few roles to work with from October-March.
WHAT ARE THE ROLES?
I am currently looking for:
BG ARTISTS (PRIORITY) who love to draw natural looking backgrounds and buildings in a painterly style.
HUNTER SFX VOICE ACTOR - The mean hunter needs a burly voice as he’s fending off Yakana!
CLEAN-UP ANIMATORS who are willing to translate the rough animation to look consistent and great!
WHAT IS IN IT FOR ME?
This is an UNPAID/volunteer role since this is a student made film. All roles will be properly credited and involved in the film making process. A discord server will be created to keep things organized and to properly communicate with the team.
QUALIFICATIONS
Professional Experience is NOT required! I am going based on talent. If your work looks good and you’re capable of meeting the file qualifications, then you are eligible into working for Yakana.
Film/Team experience is preferred, if you have references and previous projects you’ve worked on, PLEASE provide them! I’d love to see and get a good idea of how you are.
Artists who love drawing animals and nature is a big plus!

Screams, Grunts, etc.
Looking for someone who can do buildings and interiors in a digital watercolor style.
Preferably done in Photoshop or Procreate. Must export to .pdf and .png.
Can work in 3840x2160 in 300dpi.
Up to 1-2 backgrounds per artist. Shot references will be provided, although they are very simple!

**ROLE WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE UNTIL DECEMBER**
Needing someone capable of clean-up for rough animation scenes. You will be provided brushes and guidelines for what‘s expected.
Please provide any links or experience in clean-up from other projects or personal ones. I’m looking for an experienced clean-up animator who has a good grasp on emulating different styles.
The clean-up animation is planned to be on MOHO or ToonSquid, Although it will be decided in December.
CLEAN UP MUST BE DONE ON A 3840x2160 canvas file at 30fps.

Looking for an illustrator to create mini-illustrations for the short credits! Looking for a simple, cutesy style that‘s similar to the final look of the film. Bonus points if you work with textured brushes (watercolor, gouache, etc.)
Any drawing program software experience is welcome, as long as you are able to export your images as a .pdf .
MUST be able to work on a 3840x2160 canvas at 300dpi or higher.
