What is Reality - A Little About Everyting
Project Overview
This is a project I have been thinking about making for a long time. The script is almost done and I am looking for people to help me make it a reality. I try to make my content educational but using stories from real life or ones I have created. This project will delve into the implications of philosophical skepticism and virtual reality coupled with future technologies.
The project starts with a young couple who live 50 years from now. One of the many storms that now riddle the California coastline causes a nuclear meltdown at the nearby plant. The young couple is seemingly unaffected by the meltdown so they move and try to start a family. When their daughter, Ruth, is born she is completely paralyzed. She has perfectly fine cognitive capabilities, but her body does not respond to her commands. Her father creates a device that allows her to live within her own mind away from the horrors of the real world. This project will explore what Ruth's life would be like and how "real" her experiences are.
The beginning will consist of narration describing the events as they unfold but will transition to more educational information using the thought experiment as a basis for explaining concepts and exploring interesting implications.
I definitely need a narrator for this project who can deliver a similar vibe to LEMMiNO or Disrupt on YouTube. I would also love to get an artist/animator who can help create still shots for the storytelling portions of the video.

Casting Done!
I want to thank all of you for your fantastic auditions! This process was a lot of fun and I am looking forward to seeing what all of you do in the future. I want to congratulate the three people cast in their roles. You all made my decision super difficult but I felt these three fit this project the best. I will post the final product as an update here once it is finished, but for now, I will be signing off. Thank you again! -
Composers!
I was really not expecting any composers to audition for this project but we have had a few submit their work! I am really hyped about their work and you guys should check them out because they all make great music. They all make great music and my decision for who gets the role is gonna be really difficult. -
Removed Financial Backing
I unfortunately no longer can support funding the artist role so I have updated the role accordingly. Luckily there haven't been any auditions yet anyway so no harm no foul. In other news, we have had a bunch of auditions for the narrator and some of them have really excited me! You guys are making my choice difficult which is the best kind of problem to have! -
Added Funding for Artist
Hey guys! I added some monetary incentive for the artist role because I really feel like it will help the project if I get an artist. I can make it work without, but it would really suck to not get an artist for this. I am also considering offering payment for the narrator role but I'm not sure it's really in my budget as this is just a passion project.

A storm brews off the coast of California. A young couple is evacuating their new home in the recently built suburb of San Onofre. A Category 7 hurricane has arrived and brought with it a massive storm surge. Climate Change has brought so many hurricanes that we stopped naming them. This behemoth is simply named CA81. The 81st storm this year.
News hits the country that the newly refurbished San Onofre Reactors have melted down, releasing massive amounts of radiation in the surrounding areas. Our young couple never showed any signs of radiation poisoning, so they move on from the unlucky turn of events and found a home elsewhere.
One of the oldest stories comes from Master Zhuang(zwaang) in his book Zhuangzi (zwaangzuh). The Butterfly Dream tells the story of a man who finds himself dreaming about being a butterfly. He has no recollection of being a man, but he awakes to find himself a man once more. He begins to worry as he cannot distinguish if he is a man who dreams of being a butterfly or a butterfly who dreams of being a man.

I am looking for someone who can create still shots for the storytelling sections of this video. They can be either CGI or hand-drawn, 3D or 2D. Style is something I am willing to discuss changing, but in a perfect world, I would want something similar to LEMMiNO or Nexpo. Please submit any work you think is relevant or you want to show. If you want to make something new I would suggest making an image of a silhouetted couple fleeing in a hurricane. A mysterious blue glow emanates from behind a mountain in the background.
I am expecting there to be about 3-5 illustrations total for the video. All images will be full scenes with silhouettes of characters and I will pay $5 per image.

I'm not really expecting anyone to apply for this but if you want to compose some music for this video then I would love to have you! The vibe/tone of this video is dark and eerie. I would say it is most similar to LEMMiNO or Disrupt on YouTube.
