Marathon (Animation)
Project Overview
How often do you feel like your thoughts aren’t your own?
‘What About Bob?’ is a short film based on ‘Marathon.’
This film aims to capture the themes from the original, and respectfully expand on them with new characters and scenarios. Focusing on misguided beings who are not what they seem, and superintelligent AI whose goals are larger than life.
SUMMARY:
After having strange dreams, you awaken to find your ship invaded by aliens, the AI has gone crazy, and everyone is being massacred. After narrowly surviving, the insane AI wants only you to find someone that’s important to it.
LENGTH
The film is expected to be around 4-7 minutes long, the script is 10 pages long.
CODE OF CONDUCT:
Please be kind to the people you’re working with, and feel free to let me know if anything comes up. It’s important that we communicate, and stay on the same level. As a nonprofit job, I want you to know your time is always appreciated.
REQUIREMENTS:
-Quality Microphone : Understands what a quality audio setup is (no cell phone mics, no background noise)
-Discord : helps set up VA chats easily.
GOALS:
It’s our goal to make an engaging short film that anyone can enjoy, and be proud to have on their resume. There are ideas in the works to turn this into a web series, but we’ll see how this short turns out first.
PROGRESS:
As of releasing this callout, the project is halfway finished. We’re aiming to have this done by the end of the month. The video above is our test footage, it is subject to change, but it shows off the visual style we’re aiming for.

Olivia is the headfast character, she's the most disciplined, but at the same time... the most stubborn. She drops the pretention of flattery, and insists on honesty. She's trusting in every sense of the word, just don't jab at her pride.

Athir would be such a sweetheart, if his instinct to kill didn't overstep any of his psychological functions. A devout Christian who treats everybody with respect, and leaves too little to himself. He unintentionally oversteps social boundaries, and socially gets pushed to the side.

A super intelligent diva, an AI undergoing a mentally unstable transition. He is probably the smartest being in existence, and he wants you to know it. Viewing his immortality as a gift, and anything with flesh and bone as beneath him. His first rule of order is becoming god, which is spoken in the same vain as getting the groceries.
Probably the character with the most stark contrast of emotions, and motivations. Whose performance constantly dashes between subtle and manically theatric.

Leela is the Lawful good of this world, and unlike Durandal; is quietly the most intelligent being in existence. Who operates on self-lessness, and lowering the loss of life. Calculating, but most intelligent to empathetically converse with regular people.

At a certain point, I once nearly fell into the eternal darkness. The cosmic voice that speaks within our dreams, that twists our fiction into nightmares, and our nightmares into reality.

Behold! Cryptic old woman! who says menacing things off screen, and will be related to the plot.
I say old, but I'm estimating the voice to be around the age of 60. Not that old.
Its a voice that reassures you, but in an out-of-context way that completely unnerves you. Like you feel bad for her, but there's some form of dread behind the delivery. Something very cerebral and instinctively threatening.

You were always so forgetful, I miss the places where we used to be.

This is Extra, this is a reoccurring voice for extras. If there is someone speaking with no central name, it's them.
Their voice carries a warm feeling of familiarity, and naivety that charms in its normalcy.
