Project Overview

This is an animation of the Warriors Redux fanwork, derived from Erin Hunter's Warrior Cats. Currently I am planning to do at least through the first arc of the Redux, which would run about twelve episodes of 10-15 minutes each, from Rusty joining ThunderClan to Brokenstar's defeat.

This casting call includes all of ThunderClan, which covers episodes 1 and 2. Another call for important and background roles outside of ThunderClan will probably go up sometime after episode 1 is finished. I am willing to cast one person for multiple minor roles.

I am not that picky about your microphone. A good mic is a big plus, but if you can get a consistent, clear sound with minimal background noise, I am not particularly concerned with how you do it.

If you are interested in helping with background art, animation, sound mixing, etc. in the future, you are welcome to let me know! I want to do a pretty large portion of the work for the first episode but after that I am completely open to having some help in any of these areas.

If you get cast for Firepaw, Smudge, Bluestar, Spottedleaf, or Redtail I will send you the first episode script right away, so please be ready for that!

Hi, I'm Sparrow! I'm very new to voice acting and looking to get into it a little more! I'm also working on animating things of my own, which is why I'm here in the first place. Hit me up if you need anyone for original projects!

I'm genderfluid and have a naturally androgynous voice, I'm a little more comfortable pitching it up but I can also pitch it down a bit. I also sing, range high tenor up through very high soprano.

I've pushed back the deadline a week and then some, since a few people have contacted me about not being able to record until then, and I don't want anyone feeling rushed! I hope to see plenty more auditions during this time. Also, if you would like tips or feedback, I'm happy to speak briefly with you once before you submit (or resubmit) your final audition - just message me! I know a lot of people auditioning are pretty new to voice acting, so I think a small one-time feedback for everyone is a fair way to make sure everyone knows what they're doing and is showing off their voice well!

Our main character, the tiny sassy boy. Need someone who will be able to transition from a young/adolescent voice to an adult one. I don’t have any particular specifications for what he sounds like. Please read the last line in his adult voice.

strange to split up land like this. Wouldn’t we benefit from just being one big
group working together? [pause] I’m just asking why. It makes sense, doesn’t
it?
Well- I don’t… Can’t we at
least think about this? She’s not a danger to anyone. Shouldn’t we make sure we
hear from all sides before killing anybody?
Loyalty is
what matters, and that exists now, not in the past. Loyalty has to be proved
every day, in every piece of fresh-kill brought back for the clan, every claw
mark on our enemies, every patrol, every training session.

Smudge is a chubby little house cat who loves to sit around and talk. He is in the first episode, but after that only reappears once. I don't have any particular ideas for his voice, though it is described as being a bit nasally.

You’ve asked, I’ve asked for you, and it’s always the same
answer. If they’re all just making it up, how come no one ever comes back from
there? How come there’s always fur scattered in the grass?
Yes, a cute
blue collar with a bell certainly says “vicious warrior material”. Wonder if
you’re gonna get a weird name like them, too.
And they
told you it’s dangerous to live in the forest! You said it yourself! You just
told me what they said!

Bluestar is ThunderClan's leader. She's serious, a bit cold, and is quite often frustrated or angry with Firepaw, so you must be able to portray these well. I imagine her as having a deeper voice, but this is not a requirement.

(frustrated) You don’t have
time to learn all of this slowly. Even our kits are faster to answer than you,
and they’ve never stepped out of camp. The sooner you understand and recognize
everything, the sooner you’ll be accepted by your Clanmates.
Hm. [pause] It’s been discussed before, but
never implemented. The Clans are too different from each other to make uniting
an easy transition, not to mention that most of their individuals don’t like
each other in the first place. This land is large and varied enough that cats
would eventually split up again to specialize in something, anyway.
(angrily) You.
What makes you think you can
order my warriors to bring you here?

Redtail, unlike in canon, sticks around for a while in Redux so we can get to know him. He's very warm, but still carries a professional air. He supports Firepaw from early on, even when Bluestar is furious at him. I don't have any specifications on the voice, whatever you think fits is fine.

If you had
to pick one, this would be the best choice. Only mark on him is his collar.
We can, and do. But you can still get sick. The humans take care of you
if you get ill, we know that. But there are no humans here to protect you or
feed you. You can starve, or freeze, or be torn apart by dogs or foxes, or be
killed in battle.
For the record, I trust your
instincts, but we have to enforce the rules. You can eat at sunhigh, if you’re
awake by then.

Spottedleaf is the perpetually cheerful and friendly seer of ThunderClan. Being a seer, she has an air of mystery about her, and can be a little vague from time to time. She definitely should have a higher voice, either very peppy or Luna Lovegood-esque.

The Clans down here are
that of the living. Above
us is StarClan. The memories of our passed loved ones and ancestors rest in the
sky under the protection of the Three - you’ve surely heard about them by now.
But he was afraid. And that makes me afraid,
too… StarClan sent me no sign that he was lying. If you’re unsure, perhaps you
should take up council—
(dismissive)
StarClan is for warriors and
seers, Firepaw. I’m sure their spirits go where they must after they die, but they
have no reason to join StarClan.

Greypaw is Firepaw's best friend and main source of comic relief. He's just a chubby goofball kid, really, so the voice acting is really crucial to make him funny and likeable. No specifications otherwise.

dunno that I’d say it like that, but yeah, we’re way too different. I can’t
imagine living with the fish-eaters, or hunting in the swamp.

only way I’m getting any mice is by finding the stupid ones and then sitting on
them until they surrender. Hey, Ravenpaw, come here! You have to show me how
you stalk so well.

area, back when it was just mulch and ash, and laid down at the edge of it.
And… she was very wise, and she knew that some of the monsters had gotten away
from her, and she had a plan. And preparing for this, she gave birth to three
children.
I’m not sure. Something about
paths and stars? He was kind of hard to follow. I didn’t even get a chance to
say anything before he sat down beside me and started talking.

Tigerclaw is actually a very minor character in the first Redux arc, and is mostly a bit stern and standoffish. However, he is set to be the villain for the second arc, so you can show that off with the last line. I'm definitely thinking a nice deep voice for him.

Formerly Longtail. Not only is he a jerk, he is a talkative jerk. He's got quite the speech in episode 2 and is a pretty frequent recurring character from then on. A higher pitched voice for him would be preferable.

ridiculous! Why are we even discussing this? Right off the hock of winter and
you want to bring in a kittypet? He’s
going to leave as soon as it gets cold again! Until then, he’ll scare off what
little prey we have and probably bring his human out here tramping after him.
(with
contempt) It’d take you until you’re a warrior
to learn what you need to just to catch your own food. We’d have to waste
several seasons just making sure you don’t die from a cold or eat something
poisonous.

StarClan. Does he even know what a mouse is?

having the deputy’s favor rubs them the wrong way.
