Warriors Redux: Audiobook

Warriors Redux: Audiobook

Project Overview

Warriors is a popular children's series beloved by its fans. However... It has lackluster writing, to say the least. The author of Warrior Redux's goal was to reimagine and rewrite the Warriors series in a more realistic, interesting manner. The original project can be found here: http://warriorsredux.tumblr.com/

(Bless the kind author for giving me permission to make this audio project.)

What I'll be looking for:

(If you don't meet these requirements, I'd reconsider auditioning, because you will not get cast.)

a.) People who'll be able to act and express emotion. Try to sound as believable as possible. Try NOT to over-dramatize things and try not to sound so unenthusiastic that you end up sounding like a tin man.

b.) Good quality, of course. Your mic doesn't have to be a real fancy studio quality one, but we want the audio to be easy on the ears, so only people with static-and-background-noise-free enough audio will be cast.

c.) Be available. This project won't be extremely fast paced, but try to be available when the project needs you to be. Don't audition if you suspect you won't be able to be at least semi-active.

d.) This should be a given, but you have to match your voice to the character. No adults with kiddy voices, and no children with grown adult voices.

More characters will be added at a later date.

That being said, this is mainly for fun! We want quality, but we also want everyone to have a good time! ^ u ^

Greypaw

Greypaw is sort of the 'best friend' character. He may also be a little bit dopey in some cases. Most likely to be the class clown, from my observations. Mid-low range for a child/adolescent.

  • (Winded) You didn’t…have to…kick me.

  • Kit-ty-pet. You live in those houses, right?

  • Sorry for biting your neck. (Pause) By the way, warriors don’t wear collars!

Rusty's fat neighbor. He'd probably steal your first edition Charizard Pokemon card while you weren't looking (He'd give it back later, though). Nasally voice. High-mid range for a child/adolescent.

  • There’s that face. You’ve got that ‘one-day-I’ll-go-in’ face again.

  • I can go visit the neighbors, you can go to the woods and get chased away. Or eaten. And then your bones get used to file the claws of forest cats forever and-

  • Neither have you, kit-face.

Warrior of Thunderclan (currently a queen). Mid range for an adult.

  • I’ll speak for him, too. I can see he’s got potential.

Lionpelt

Warrior of Thunderclan. Rather aloof. Low range for an adult.

(Previously Lionheart)

  • (Emphasis on might) He might have time.

  • You said that yesterday. If he’s trained, then he won’t be useless.

  • Might as well.

Warrior of Thunderclan. A bit polite. Mid-low range for an adult.

(Previously Whitestorm)

  • Sorry to keep you waiting. My name is Whitecloud, and this is Lionpelt.

  • Much better than I expected. He kept up well enough, despite his size. I think you’ve made a good choice with this one.

Apprentice of Thunderclan. Snarky. Mid range for a child/adolescent.

  • Oh, there he is. How do you like our territory, kittypet?

  • You know, what your humans do. Cut you up, take out your life-force. They make you stupid and lazy. Then you can’t have kittens, and you’re useless.

Voice Actor
Voice Actor
Redtail
open
Unpaid

Thunderclan's second-in-command. Although he is mainly calm, like Bluestar, Redtail also has a little bit more of a temper. A calm and commanding voice would suit him well. Mid range for an adult.

  • You and the fat one don’t make much of an effort to be quiet.

  • But you can still get sick. The humans take care of you if you get ill, we know that. But there are no humans here to protect you or feed you. You can starve, or freeze, or be torn apart by dogs or foxes, or be killed in battle.

  • You will have to work for the Clan. We expect all of our members to be loyal to the death, including you if you join us.

Warrior of Thunderclan. Confrontational. Mid range for a young adult.

(Previously Longtail)

  • Why are we discussing this? Right off the hock of winter and you want to bring in a (emphasis on kittypet) kittypet? He’s going to leave as soon as it gets cold again! Until then, he’ll scare off what little prey we have and probably bring his human out here tramping after him.

  • He’s got no reason to learn about us or our stories. Ask him right now if he knows about StarClan. Does he even know what a (emphasis on mouse) mouse is?

Warrior of Thunderclan. Mid range for an adult.

(Previously Runningwind)

  • If we were to wait until the prey started coming back, maybe, but the Clan’s overstuffed as it is, Bluestar.

  • I will speak for him.

Elder of Thunderclan. Mid range for an elder.

(Previously Smallear)

  • Doesn’t look the right age. Too tiny, and a kittypet on top of it. We don’t need an extra mouth in the Clan.

Bluestar

This molly is level headed and a bit motherly. All in all, a benevolent leader. Somewhat of a stern voice. Mid range for an adult.

  • Relax, little one. We aren’t here to hurt you.

  • The cats around here call you ‘Rusty’, don’t they? We’ve overheard some of your conversations with your neighbors.

  • I don’t make anything of it yet. I don’t know why he would say anything to us or what he’s so afraid of.

Spottedleaf

Spottedleaf is Thunderclan's attractive seer. Not only does she do cat voodoo, but she is kind and stands by what she believes. High-mid range for a young adult.

  • StarClan sent me no sign that he was lying. If you’re unsure, perhaps you should take up council-

  • They will argue. But StarClan is never wrong. I know it’s the right decision.

  • (Said to self, trying to reassure.) They’re never wrong.

Narrator

Mainly any voice is acceptable. We want the narrator's voice to be nice to listen to.

  • A pair of feet resting on the floor beside him jumped and shuffled with a sleepy gasp. The chair groaned and the top of a human head popped into view, peering at him upside down. It chortled and vanished while the feet crossed over each other.

  • It was an entirely different world here in the forest – waves of delicious, foreign smells rolled around him from all directions, each distinct enough that he could focus on one without losing the others.

  • The forest fell silent again. Rusty’s thoughts immediately engulfed him - a wild life away from humans. Catching food instead of eating whatever he was given. And fighting other animals, from what he inferred. It was risky, certainly, but at the same time he couldn’t help but be intrigued.

Rusty/Firepaw
open
Unpaid

Firepaw is as his name describes him - hotheaded. I'd picture him having a charming, yet arrogant kind of voice. Mid range for a child/adolescent.

  • Yeah, well.  Fiver should bring it up with me if it really bugs her. When did you talk to her, Smudge? I thought you hated going out of your garden.

  • You had me by the throat!

  • What makes living out here so hard? This is your land, isn’t it? Couldn’t you just chase anyone off if they caused problems?
