Atom's Ashes - A Fallout 4 mod

Atom's Ashes - A Fallout 4 mod

Project Overview

Atom's Ashes is an up and coming mod for fallout 4 which seeks to build upon and expand the RPG elements to bring the game more in-line with the faction tribal political drama found in New Vegas and Classic fallout. The mod seeks to implement features from previous titles, such as roleplaying perks and traits, and even add new ones such as NPC judging you based on your clothing at the time and a large focus on world reactivity. It also aims to build upon previous aspects of the lore and have the player experience the more nitty-gritty side of Fallout's universe - such as implementing 'Stealth boy sickness' mentioned in previous titles. The initial release will focus mostly around the Lexington area and the tribal politics found within, with future releases hopefully expanding across large portions of the map.

As of right now, this project focuses primarily of the North-Eastern part of the Commonwealth - Lexington and the surrounding area - and the story of 'Char's Own' a small territory primarily ran out of the old Corvega car factory. The faction is currently engaged in a civil war that will change the political map of the region forever.

The mod has

Plot synopsis;

In the first century of the Post-War period, The Corvega assembly plant was the largest, and most important trade hub in the Commonwealth. The tribe that inhabited the area soon built a tribal society in the North-West Commonwealth, complete with a dialect, religion and culture. They hate war, instead adopting a philosophy of learning from the Pre-war and rebuilding the world from the ashes.

Two hundred years later, however, the time of the Corvega’s monolithic power has passed… With more central locations, like Bunker Hill and Diamond city, stealing their trade power…

Jared, who was fed the stories of the old days, seeks to rebuild the Corvega into its former glory. He seeks to turn Lexington into the heart of an expansionist civilization, using ‘the sight’. Lonnie, however, refuses to follow her new leader – instead choosing to lock down the area, holding the ruined streets of the former city and trying her hardest to cut off the supplies from the Corvega until Jared surrenders…

In an attempt to follow the tenants of her tribe, one hating needless conflict and infighting, Lonnie finds herself committing travesties much more reprehensible than if she had simply shot Jared out right…

Due to the regional capital’s struggles, their government based on diplomacy and intimidation began to fall like a house of cards, leaving their territory in shatters…

Molly is the no nonsense owner of the Drumlin Flophouse - a roadside caravan post currently hosting raiders as its main clientele. She is a shrewd, morally flexable merchant who is always looking for ways to make extra money. As such, she is more than okay with allowing drugs to be sold and used in her building, provided those who use her services respect her house rules.

She is very overworked, having to essentially run the entire settlement on her own, due to family troubles. As such, she uses Jet as a crutch to help her complete her busy day. Her voice lines should reflect this near constant state of tireness and overwork.

Drumlin itself has been turned into a refugee camp and Molly's character arc will feature the non nonsense, shrewd merchant slowly open up to both the refugees and the player, becoming more caring and charitiable.

  • I'm Molly and this here's my flophouse. We got a few rules here, so listen up. First: you leave your grievances at the door. I don't want any fighting in here. Second: No cussing. It's just unnecessary. You follow those two rules and we'll get along famously. Get it?

  • The guys outside? Course I give a fuck about 'em - I ain't some monster... It's just it's kinda hard to find beds for 'em all. Those who wanna work get priority.

  • Look, I ain’t about to tell my life story to some Scav I just met. I got beer and jet. Anything else, you best look elsewhere...

Frankie is a member of the Vandals - a gang of travelling raiders that use the old highways to move up and down the East coast. He spends all of his time in the flophouse in Drumlin, getting high on the jet sold by Molly. He is originally a native of Philadelphia, however, he’s spent so much time travelling with the Vandals, he’s found himself in the ruins of Boston. He's also a gay man, so someone who's comfortable with portraying such a character is highly encouraged.

He's a reletively mellow man, Although - like the rest of his tribe - he has a strong sense of self, only doing things he 'wants' to do.

  • Just passing though? Heh. Yeah, I was passing through once. Then Molly got her hooks into me. Still, the Jet is easy to come by here so I can't complain too much.

  • Why am I in the bar? Cos I want to be. and besides, it's a hellova lot more easy to guard some random settlement than going out on raids.

  • *cough, cough, cough* Man, this Jet is some good shit.

Solomon is the face of the concord refugees and is the first NPC the player can interact with in Drumlin. He was the former pastor in concord and also the acting mayor. His son was taken by the Corvega and conscripted along with a large majority of Concord’s adult population. Only those who weren’t deemed ‘fighting fit’ were left and now function as refugees in Drumlin – due to their home being razed to the ground...

Now he spends his days looking after the refugees in Drumlin - what he believes to be the last of his people - and taking care of his mute adoptive daughter.

His role is to serve as exposition and give a name and face to the otherwise generic NPCs.

  • I was the town preacher for a time. Same as my old man and his old man. Was a good way of keeping people’s spirits up during the winter, when food was scarce. Now though, Doubt anything will help the folks out here now… Nothing short of a miracle, anyway.

  • Been quite a while since we've seen a new face coming in to Drumlin. If you're looking for Concord then I'm afraid to say you're too late.

  • Is the girl mine? No. To be frank, I didn't even know she existed till after the whole event. I ain't see her parents around or anything, so I'm just taking care of her for now. She's not said a single word since though... The only reason I know her name is cos she wrote it down on the road a little while back...

The leader of the Scavs of Scav Town, Ack-Ack runs an impromptu raider band consisting of scavengers and former Concord refugees. Under Ack-Ack's leadership, they tried to reestablish the ruins of Scav Town and restore it to its former trade post glory. However, due to lack of experience running a settlement and frequent raids from opossing groups in the area, the Scavs have been forced to hold up smaller, weaker settlements like Drumlin and Abernathy farm for food. She's also a lesbian, so someone who's comfortable with portraying such a character is highly encouraged.

The player will be able to;

  1.  wipe out the gang, ending their raids
  2. Teach them how to farm
  3. Help the settlement establish trade caravans between nearby settlements
  4. Or convince Ack-Ack to become a settler for player ran settlements

  • Well, judging by that outfit you're wearing, You're a Dweller who took a wrong turn. What? Your water chip back home malfunction or something?

  • I ain't a bad person... I just want you to know that.... All I wanted to do is provide for these people - my people - but when the crops ain't growing and there ain't any trade caravans north of the Hill, What was I supposed to do?

  • I can't just 'set up elsewhere'; I've got people here who need taking care off and the whole forest is a warzone right now... Besides, after all we've done, where would we even go?

A Vandal with an unknown past. He is oppotunistic and mostly self serving. Despite this, he is loyal and bias toward his tribe - opportating as a sort of wasteland Mafiosi. As such, his accent should be somewhat similar to characters like Tony Soprano or Colin Ferrel's Penguin.

He represents the darker aspect of the freewill focused Vandal mindset.

Bobbie is mostly disliked by his fellow tribe, outside of the small group opporating in Drumlin, due to his involvement in the slavery taking place in Nuka-World. As such, he's taken up residence in Drumlin. The player should feel like they're one disagreement away from getting beaten up and left for dead.

  • There a reason you're bothing me?

  • We know a few things alright. Like how their pockets are usually filled with good salvage. If you really care about it that much, I suggest you run round to see my guys. The refugees don't really like when we dispose of 'em in Drumlin. Fair enough, honestly. ...I wouldn't want my kid seeing that shit either.

  • Sorry to bother you, friend. I was just wondering if you could spare some caps? I'm trying to make my way to Bunker Hill.

  • Me? No, no. I'm a Concord boy, through and through. 'Used to trade a lot with Corvega though, so I've got a pretty good handle on 'em though.

  • a-are you sure? You really don't need to... I can't thank you enough, pal! Look me up next time you're near Bunker Hill, I promise I'll pay you back for this!

An older gentlemen, He's the leader of the settlement guards of Scav Town. He's a retired member of The Gunners and, as such, as decent knowlage on small unit tactics.

He's a grandfather-type, telling old stories to anyone who'll listen. Despite his knowlage, he is an old man now and isn't entirely fit for combat. However, he's smart enough to realise when to be passive or combative.

  • Making fun on the old man, huh? Well, fair enough. You don't see to many of us anymore. ...Let me as you this though; How many old men you seen in the Commonwealth? Maybe there's a reason I'm able to last so long in this shithole.

  • Come to hear an old man's stories? Well, from what I remember my pa telling me: Scav town as sorta always been here, he used to say.

  • Hey, you there! Stop! I don't know what you're looking to do in that walking tank of yours, stranger, but I'll kindly ask you move along. We ain't worth the trouble.
