Voicing Harmony Danganronpa VA/Editor Casting Call
Project Overview
Welcome to Voicing Harmony's newest casting call! Please read the FAQ below to get the full details of this project and answer any questions you may have. We thank you for your time and hope to hear/see your auditions soon!
FAQ
Q- Who are you guys?
A- We're a Youtube group of VA's, Artists, and Editors that create and/or dub comics. Our 68K+ Subscribers know us best for our Danganronpa, My Hero Academia, Your Turn To Die and other anime-esque comic dub work. We make no money off our work! We simply enjoy bringing content to life with our voices/art/editing skills!
Q- What exactly am I auditioning for VA wise?
A- Voice Actors will be auditioning for various Danganronpa character roles in order to be used for one-off videos much like the one above. The video above featured our cast of Danganronpa V3 VA's reading positive words of encouragement based off this Tumblr post. Based on the success of the video and numerous comments to do more, we will be voicing most, if not the entire version of the full Tumblr post.
Q- What exactly am I auditioning for Editor wise?
A- Video Editors will be auditioning for the chance to edit comic dubs for us. We're looking for editors who can use Sony Vegas, Adobe Premiere or other high-quality editing programs to help create comic dubs like the ones here!
Q- Do I need to know anything about the source material to audition?
A- It is not necessary, but it certainly does help. For the voice actors, we will be providing voice references, and links to the wiki entries of the characters below. As for Editors, they don't necessarily need to know of the series we dub, but they're more likely to enjoy themselves if they have interests in Danganronpa, My Hero Academia, Your Turn To Die, etc.
Q- Do I need to have a lot of experience or a good mic/editing software?
A- Well... That depends. While experience is very nice to have, it is not required. However, typically people with more experience are better and tend to be more reliable with delivering lines/creating comic dubs. Voice Actors will need to use USB/XLR mics. Phone/Headset mics will not be accepted for this project. We also ask that VA's only submit minimally edited audio. (I.E. volume adjusting = OK, filtering/pitching = NO)
Editors in particular will need to show off some of their previous work in their auditions! So the better the software and previous work, the more likely they'll get cast!
Q- Do I need a Discord?
A- Yes & No. While we typically would say that you do need Discord in our casting calls, this one is little different. Any Voice Actor/Actress who is cast for this project will be appearing as a guest VA and not formally join the group. They will be asked how they wanted to be credited and then can contact/work with us via Discord, Twitter, Gmail or Casting Call Club. Video Editors cast will join the group and will need to have Discord though.
Q- Why can't the newly cast VA's join the group?
A- We currently have a 30+ member team with many members who don't always get enough work. While we always need new Video Editors, it'd be unfair to add more VA's to the team and prevent them from getting more work.
Q- If I'm cast as a Video Editor, how active do I need to be?
A- While this isn't set in stone, we'd prefer if you can help us create a video a month and check Discord at least once a week. The more active you are, the better though!
Q- What games/anime/manga characters from Danganronpa are we dubbing specially?
A- For the case of the next few Dangan Positives videos, we will be using characters from Danganronpa Trigger Happy Havoc, Super Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair, Danganronpa 3: The Animation Future Arc, Danganronpa: Zero, Danganronpa: Kirigiri and Danganronpa: Killer Killer. Please note that some of the characters have already been picked out to be voiced by someone in our group or another trusted guest VA.
Q- I'm a mobile/IPhone editor. Can I still apply?
A- You can, but you're far less likely to be chosen. Although good editing applications for mobile devices exist, desktop Video Editors are known to be far more reliable and provide the greater precision needed for our videos.
Q- Why aren't these paid positions?
A- We don't run ads for our videos on YouTube because our work is often from artists outside the group and not every artist would be okay with us making money off their work. All people cast will be credited for their work on the channel though.
Q- If I can't be paid, what perks will I receive?
A- Voice Actors will be credited however they wish for the videos they're in and we may keep in touch with you as well for possible future videos. Editors will be able to formally join the team on our private Discord server where they can talk with our actors/crew individually, receive guidance and tips from our current editors, and can participate in server voice chats if they choose to do so!
Q- How old do I have to be to audition?
A- Fourteen (14) is the absolute youngest that you can be to audition. However, we prefer if you are at least fifteen (15). Danganronpa, which is a mature franchise, is the main focus of our videos and as such we need a certain level of maturity in our team members as well. Also, most of these characters are older teenagers/young adults, so a more mature voice will fit better.
Q- Should the voices emulate the English dub? The Japanese? Neither?
A- The answer to this question is really up to you! We don't really prefer one way or the other. If we were forced to give an answer, we would say that the English voice would be better, but a lot of our team members sound more like the English, some more like the Japanese, and some take elements from both. For each character, we will be telling you references to both whenever possible, but may only have the English reference in some cases. That doesn't necessarily mean that you should try to do their voice exactly though. Feel free to take liberties!
Q- Is there a chance for double casting?
A- Yes, actually! While it's not typically standard or professional, ever since we've started branching out into things other than Danganronpa V3, we've been casting the same person for multiple roles. Obviously, we'll try to avoid double casting, but if we feel a Voice Actor/Actress fits multiple characters with their auditions, we may cast them for multiple roles! So feel free to to audition for multiple roles!
Q- How many Video Editors are you accepting?
A- The more quality editors, the better!
Q- What if I can't meet the deadline?
A- We may possibly extend the deadline if need be, but don't count on it.
Q- Is the Q&A over? There's been so much to read!
A- We apologize for the mountain of text, but we want to try and be as transparent and detailed with the casting call as possible. Good news though? You've made it to end!
Remember, HAVE FUN! Have fun while auditioning, and have fun with us if you're cast. Thank you to everyone who auditions! And HUGE THANKS to those who read the entire Q&A above!!

We need Video Editors to help us create visual edits for comic dubs! If you can create videos like the ones we've done before, please feel free to apply! We highly recommend that Editors use Sony Vegas, Adobe Premiere, or a similar high quality program before they send in their work!
Say something you think would fit
Yasuhiro is one of the more cheery, laid-back students, though a bit odd as well. However, he is generally not well-liked and he himself has openly admitted he has no friends, is quite cowardly, lazy, slow-witted and has a habit to act selfishly. Notably, he is mentioned to be very clumsy with money and he has constant problems with massive debts.

"I'm Yasuhiro Hagakure—Hiro for short! Take it easy, yeah? I know I will!"
"He just acts like that to hide his own insecurities. That's what I like to think, anyway..."
"Oh, and don’t forget to pay me back when you’re rich! You’ll go far in life, I’ve already predicted it!"
As an idol, Sayaka is a cheerful, sweet and supporting girl. Sayaka develops a bond with Makoto Naegi, whom she considers her friend, assisting him on every occasion in Chapter 1 of Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc. However, she tends to hide her feelings when she is under great pressure by putting on her public persona. She also cares greatly for her band members, and would not hesitate to do something if anything were to happen to one of them, including things that could hurt others. Sayaka mentions that she often finds herself focused on a particular person, but pushes these thoughts out of her mind to commit herself further to her idol career. Sayaka has an amazing intuition, as she can easily tell what people are thinking. She often joked by telling people she was an esper, only to admit that she was kidding later. However if she being pushed to her limit, Sayaka will do anything even if it's risk.

"Trust in yourself that you will get through this ... because you will. I just know you will."
Being the Ultimate Soldier, Mukuro is ruthless and can kill and harm others with no remorse. She seems completely indifferent towards other people unless it's her sister Junko or her crush Makoto. Unlike her sister, she doesn't take any sadistic pleasure in hurting or killing people, but at the same time, she shows little concern for other people's suffering. Despite being an incredible soldier, Mukuro is very out-of-touch with her own emotions. She has a notable lack of social skills, acting emotionless and indifferent towards most people. She tends to have a cold, serious expression and a reserved personality

"Even if we have our doubts, I still want to believe. Let’s do this. Let’s give it our best shot."
Fitting his talent, Kiyotaka often takes up and views himself as a leader, as seen when he organizes the morning meeting for the other students. However, he often isn't taken very seriously—due to his extreme dedication to studying and proper conduct, he could not even hold a "normal" conversation with another person, which becomes clear very soon if someone spends free time with him. Furthermore, he is very expressive and intense in his manner of speech and is almost constantly shouting. Due to his lack of social skills, he often bursts out the first thing that comes to his mind and forces his values and beliefs on others, which he's aware of and feels guilty about.

As an experienced gambler, Celestia appears collected, cold, and cunning by nature. She possesses the ability to manipulate others to do her bidding and can lie with a straight face. She is also a very ambitious person, as she declared that she will do anything it takes to win, and is ready to go as far as murdering someone or manipulating others in cold blood.

Mahiru is an optimistic and sensible girl who is generally rather calm and unafraid to speak her mind. She initially comes off as confident but is later revealed to have self-esteem issues. She wants to help as many people as she can, but it'd be a mistake to call her a pushover. She doesn't hesitate to scold those who are rude to her and is also really good at taking care of people although never failing to complain about it.

Gundam has an eccentric and somewhat dark personality, his delusions of self-grandeur likely stemming from an inferiority complex and chuunibyou syndrome. He claims that he was gifted with evil powers of the underworld, the result of "an angel and a devil" joining together. Gundam refers to other people as "pathetic human beings" and states that even the gods fear his abilities. He often rambles about his status as "The Supreme Overlord of Ice" and his interest in the dark arts, alchemy, and astral levels. Preferring to be alone, he prioritizes himself and taking care of the Devas over connecting with his classmates.

"You may call me...Gundam Tanaka! Remember it well, for it is the name that will one day rule this world!"
"There are no second chances in life... We cannot return to what has already transpired... There is no other way than to move forward, like an arrow of light piercing through the darkness..."
"This battle is yours to win so you must go forward and earn your rightful victory!"
At first, Ibuki is a bit shocking in bold and unique personality and appearance. She is one of the most upbeat people out of her classmates. She is very energetic and loves to talk, though she almost always ends up going off on bizarre, unrelated tangents. She forgets things quite quickly, so she tries to write memos to help her remember.
Ibuki is very quirky as she loves to do all sort of bizarre things and she dislikes "dull" things, like reading and studying. She has a habit of breaking the fourth wall. When she gets upset, Ibuki seems to have a bit of a verbal tic: saying things twice. She also tends to scream or froth at the mouth when she panics. She seems to really enjoy panicking when there is no real danger, like when she's watching horror movies or going into the haunted house.

"Ibuki is shouting your awesomeness! YOU ARE SUPER DUPER STRONG! YOU’RE ROCKHARD HARDCORE!! YOU THE REAL MVP!!!"
Kyosuke is decisive, overly logical, and reserved. He tried to distance himself from emotional reasoning as much as possible, to keep his emotions from getting in the way of his decisions. Though, supposedly due to both his intelligence and paranoia, Kyosuke tends to think that there is always something more complex behind other people's actions, and thus had harder time realizing answers that are just simple or obvious. He was aware that he had to make the tough choices that few others are willing to make, and had resigned himself to the responsibility. Because of this, he seemed to view himself as very martyr-like, as he was willing to put himself into unfavorable opinions with others in order to get things done.

"There is no room for despair in the world that we’ll create. So overcome this despair and become hope instead!"
Chisa is a very friendly woman with a cheerful disposition. She is generally very lively and confident, always working hard with a smile on her face and facing new challenges with positive attitude. In general, she is a kind person who comforts those who need it and takes care of others. However, she is also rather quirky and a little odd, which is often pointed out by her students who find some of her behavior confusing.

According to Kyosuke, he used to be different in the past, as he used to work much more actively against despair.

Koichi is a relaxed, passive and whimsical man who chooses not to get involved in arguments. He's sometimes carefree to a fault; before the vents of the Tragedy, he was shown to be somewhat irresponsible and would rather get drunk than teach a class. Despite his attitude, he has been shown to be extremely loyal to the school's headmaster, Jin Kirigiri.
However, Kochi is also a reliable and quick-witted person with a sharp intuition, which allows him to assess people's talents, as well as their true character. He is also very observant and intelligent, although he does not usually show it.

Miaya is a mysterious character, all this is currently known is that she is extremely shy and thus doesn't speak verbally. According to Aoi Asahina, she speaks only through her computer via Usami.
Usami is gentle and kind-hearted, but is also very naive and not very smart. While she is strict about rules and other things, it's very easy to trick or persuade her. All she wants is to foster love, friendship and good manners, emphasized in her catchphrase "love, love!". Because of this, she can come across as overly sweet and annoying. She encourages everyone to live in peace and strength their bonds with each other. Despite his strong desire to please Kyosuke and help him with his plans, he has an unlucky tendency to screw up constantly. He is also described as incompetent at everything else but boxing, and sometimes even his boxing skills fail him. In the group of three friends, Juz considers himself a third wheel due to Chisa and Kyosuke having a closer relationship, As a result of this, Juzo suffers from a fear of abandonment and uselessness, which strives him to work even harder. his multiple insecurities could also explain some of his aggression, as he likely wishes to appear tough as possible to others. Juzo is rough and prine to violence when he loses his short temper . He has a harsh way of speaking and he is accustomed to bullign others to get his point across. He is rather serious, with many of his smiles being mocking rather than genuine.

"I will eliminate anyone who gets in Munakata's way. That was the vow I swore!"
"Then I'll protect you, the same as ever. You're our hope. As long as you survive, the Future Foundation can be rebuilt. And for that to happen, I'll get rid of anyone I suspect."
"So what if you messed up? You just have to own it. Trust me, you’re strong enough."
Yasuke is referred to as a "sharp-tongued brainiac" by Monokuma's memo in his profile and he's described as good-looking and intelligent. However, he is also notable sarcastic, witty and displays a perpetual, disgruntled apathy. Despite his young age, his is a very skilled neurologist and is regarded as an expert neurosurgeon and neuroscientist. He also has a short temper and when he loses it, he can be quick to resort to stinging and bitter demeanor. While being perfectly capable of being professionally-balanced and cordial, he is also capable of putting other people in their places if not downright scaring or intimidating them.
His attitude and general demeanor often causer him to butt heads with students and staff alike, but he's more prone to brushing off their complaints and arguments not too long after they start engaging in pointless lengthy disputes.
His quite mean and rude, carries a dry sense of humor and an unapproachable, hostile attitude. He is a aloof, enjoying spending time on his own and reading manga, He sees little to not point of respecting others without a good reason to do so and partially because of this, he is notoriously known for standing up and having a complete disregard or dislike of authority figures.
While this character was never formally voiced, we imagine his voice to be tired, but very cynical.
Vocal Range would most likely be medium to medium low.
Feel free to do your own interpretation though!
Notes: Please read each line 2-3 times with no slate. The third line is the most important though as it's part of the actual dialogue you'll be speaking if you're cast.
"People are sheep. They are drawn to a name, and the school took advantage of that to get more money."
“Who are you going to report me to? The National Japanese Ugly People Association? That kind of organization would be guilty of discrimination just by existing.”
"You’ll be fine so stop whining so much and start getting things done."
Ryoko is presented a girl with a neurological disorder which causes her to lose her short and long term memories. Because of this, she writes everything down in a notebook, the 'Ryoko Otonashi Memory Notebook', While she has loisther ability to form new memories, she still has her ability to remember and learn 'procedural memory' tasks such as writing and reading.
Ryoko is generally carefree, with a "natural cheerfulness". SHe has a rather eccentric way of thinking, which is not expressed to be related to her disorder. She is said to have a strange laugh. Because of her forgetfulness, she has trouble concentrating and may come across a bit dumb in to other people's eyes. She may often appear uninterested and may fail to respond to situations properly.
(Ree-oh-ko Oh-toe-na-shi)
While this character was never formally voiced *cough* *cough* we can assume her voice would be slightly ditzy, but also somewhat composed; not stupid but also sorta soft-sounding.
Vocal Range would probably be mid to mid high.
Feel free to do you own interpretation though!
Notes: Please read each line 2-3 times with no slate. The third line is the most important though as it's part of the actual dialogue you'll be speaking if you're cast.
“Um, it seems my name is Ryoko Otonashi… maybe?”
“D-Don’t lie! I’m not ugly! I’m cuter than most people in this world!”
"Always remember your loved ones! You can forget everything but never forget that you are loved."
Yui is a very normal high school girl, but she doesn't like to talk about her family. Her detective skills are average compared to Kyoko, though she is still very intelligent. She sees detectives as people who should fight for justice. She gives off the image of a reliable older sister.
Yui seems thoughtless sometimes for a detective, but those instances are rare and she's more often reasonable and analytical. Yui is very cautious every time she starts an investigation. As a detective, Yui is not as skilled as Kyoko but has solved a lot of cases on her own.
While this character was never formally voice we imagine she would be slightly more emotional than the average detective but still very composed in her voice and thoughts as well as uplifting like a positive older sister-figure.
Vocal Range would probably be Mid to Mid High.
Feel free to do you own interpretation though!
Notes: Please read each line 2-3 times with no slate. The third line is the most important though as it's part of the actual dialogue you'll be speaking if you're cast.
"To me, being a detective and being alive are the same thing."
"I always wanted to be an ally of justice. I always wanted to save those in need of help. That was why I started walking down the path of a detective."
"You deserve that fairness. So don’t you dare stop fighting for what you deserve. You deserve better!"
Takumi is sullen and eccentric. He enjoys hiding in dark and confined spaces, as he finds the atmosphere relaxing. In addition to his strangeness, he is also, outwardly, very lazy and frequently attempts to have Misaki (his investigation partner) do the work for the both of them. He's never ashamed of what he does and has no problem with telling people what he thinks about them. Despite this, he has strong deduction skills and is very observant.
While this character was never formally voiced we imagine he'd probably be clear sounding, but eerily still with his voice.
Vocal Range would probably be mid to mid low.
Feel free to do your own interpretation though!
Notes: Please read each line 2-3 times with no slate. The second & third line is the most important though as it's part of the actual dialogue you'll be speaking if you're cast.
Extra Notes: We are still currently trying our best to get permission to use fan-made Takumi sprites. As such, we can't confirm Takumi will be in a video at this time. We still ask that if you're interested in this role to try for it anyway.
"Things like murderers, these types of odd crimes... from the bottom of my heart, I love them more than anything."
"‘Murder makes a man’, or so it is said. Just remember what’s important: love for murder. If you take this to heart then I’m sure you’ll become a cool killer too."
"Relax and just breathe in space that you’re comfortable with. Find what fits for you. There’s lots of safe places out there if you look hard enough."
