Captain: Late 50s male. Experienced operator, takes his rest period around half way through the video. Comes back into the cockpit to find the aircraft stalled and chaos ensuing. Struggles to understand what has happened.
First Officer 2: Mid 30s male. Quite experienced. Occupies the left seat when the failure occurs and tries to determine the cause. While also directing his colleague on how to recover.
Person 1: “Air France 447 position Intol, 0133, level 350. Salpu at 0148. Next is Oraro 0204. Request Selcal check.” (calm, professional tone)
Person 2: “We lost all control of the plane we don’t understand anything…we’ve tried everything.” (panicked tone)
First Officer 1: Early 30s male. Relatively inexperienced for long haul flying. Leans on the Captain and First Officer 2 for support. When the failure first occurs (*autopilot disconnect*) he becomes startled and pulls the nose up sharply.
Air Traffic Control: Mid 30s, copies information from the pilots at the start of the script as AF447 begins its crossing of the Atlantic.
Person 1: "Air France 447 maintain flight level three five zero."
Person 2: "Well that turbulence that you felt should continue, we’re in the cloud layer unfortunately. We can’t climb because the temperature is falling slower than forecast. So the Rec Max is a little too low to get to 37.”
Cabin Crew: Mid 30s female. Plays a supporting role with a few lines.
“Alright are we going to sit down?”
