How to Audition

Record all lines in order, one take each.

At the start of the recording, please include your name and a brief 10-15 second blurb about why you are interested in these projects and what you can uniquely bring to the character. We will not cast according to upvotes nor your ability to imitate another voice actor. You are welcome to make your audition private, this won't count against you at all.

You will need to have the following: PayPal, Discord, Google Email. The performers we choose will join Team Diamond, which includes our Discord Server and the usage of Google Drive for sharing project files.

Before anyone asks, Vergil is not available. Both mainline and Nephilim Vergil have already been cast. This is also the case for Killer-Red and Harley Quinn.

Note: The second story is a little bit darker, even down to the art style. Nephilim Dante is often referred to as "Reboot Dante.” You’ll very quickly find, when researching these parts, that the Devil May Cry fanbase has a bit of a vendetta for this version of Dante. I want to hear auditions that examine him for his emotions and convictions, not auditions that exhibit any sort of fandom-rooted destain over his character not meeting an individual's preferential gaming expectations.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your voice with us! We are super pumped about these characters.

Dante, the Legendary Devil Hunter, has found himself in the Devil Hunting business again, only this time, in a brand new city. Jump City. Here, vigilantes are the norm and villains are more dangerous than they seem. A bit blasé, Dante sees no major issue with his new place in the world and is soon engulfed in a gig involving protecting another half demon from her nightmares. His clients, the Titans, become the catalyst to him meeting Raven. This strange girl seems to need him in ways that go beyond this whole thing being, just another gig.

Dante is benevolent and kind, but also self-deprecating. He fails to question how or why he and Vergil have been separated and butts heads with the Titans when it comes to dealing with Deathstroke. At the same time, he is willing to play by their rules if it’s what’s best for Raven, whom he quickly begins to see as his own.

Familiarity with the story is pivotal for you to understand Dante contextually. We are working with a post Devil May Cry 5 Dante, in his 40’s, so the best canonical reference for him is Devil May Cry 5, though the 2007 anime does also offer some useful character insight.

  • (Treasure Chest - Inner Monologue) A fight in a tunnel? Arg, not ideal. Looks like this jerk’s armor is top notch. It’s hard to do damage. My most effective moves require more space. And with an unstable ceiling of earth above, it’d be too risky to do something explosive. Everything could come crashing down, on top of both me, and the Titans. Not to mention the portal I’ve gotta avoid. Ah hell, this is a trap, isn’t it. Ah shit, if I Sin Devil Trigger with a downward blast, there’s still a chance the good guys could pay for it. And there’s not enough room! I’m gonna have to boomerang my sword. It might still screw them up but hopefully not as bad. Yeah, that’s what I’m gonna do. My best move will definitely destroy Slade, plus make me invincible enough to handle a cave-in.

  • (The Sanctuary - To Raven) I’m actually really impressed with what you’ve done. You healed me much faster than I would have by myself, and here in my own, personal vacation-paradise. That’s a miracle. Thank you for doing that. I remember the last time I felt like this, I was in my mother’s arms. Heh, just a kid. It’s not right for me to be here. I don’t like that you had to save me, it only shows that I fucked up saving you.

  • (You’re back! - To Starfire and Beast Boy) You know how it goes. Property gets destroyed, brokers want their cut, uninvited help screws you over. Ya snooze on the couch in your office until you get a gig that pays the rent and that’s that. Hell, in my hometown, when I made it through a gig without clients telling me to fuck off, that was a win. Scraping by under the radar is kind of all I know.

Nephilim Dante

Paid: Hourly 50 USD
Role assigned to: Cursed with Glorious Purpose

Dante, the Nephilim, is in survival mode after Limbo City has been completely swallowed by the Underworld.

Dejected and left behind, he’s been doing his best to protect the new humans being trafficked into this miserable place in Hell. His brother, Vergil, has opened a rift to Arkham Asylum and has stolen the worst of the worst for his regime. One of the humans he’s taken, a discarded “robin,” Vergil decides, is utterly useless. When he tosses him to the dogs, Dante rescues him and becomes his protector. Hell then transforms this lost soul into Killer-Red: A lethal fusion of Robin, Red X, Red Hood, and a hint of angelic power from his new Nephilim friend. (I've included three Jason Todd references so you can get a feel for why he appeals to Nephilim Dante.)

Dante is sensuous and violent, but also self-sacrificing. He’s been pushed to the edge of the city, near the Wood of Suicides and hides out in an abandoned cathedral. Having latched onto his angel-half, his powers have become more ethereal and he ends up befriending both Jason Todd and Harleen Quinzell. He relates closely to them, especially Jason, whom he treats like a beloved little brother.

This part is meaty and you’ll need to have a strong understanding of who Dante is in the context of DmC: Devil May Cry. We recommend this video as a means for connecting to Ninja Theory's artistic intent behind this character.

I do not have corresponding chapters to share with these lines because the text for Killer-Red is still being finalized. For this reason, I am going to provide some brief context and a little bit of direction.

1 This moment takes place after a frisky night with Harley Quinn. Dante is walking home at about 5am, in Limbo City. Despite the dystopian state of his surroundings, he's still in the afterglow with a clear mind.

2 This is short but important. Dante wants it established, as early as possible, that he is there to protect Jason, not harm him as his brother would. Dante and Jason are on foot in the city in search of food.

3 Dante’s relationship with the Legendary Devil Hunter has a past rooted in a childhood memory, one that left the Nephilim idealizing a potential father figure. The two share a brain and have found one another again, after the Nephilim has entered Purgatory. This is an excerpt from the conversation they have. The other Dante is quite heartbroken over what’s happened to his angelic counterpart, but that’s not fully apparent to the Nephilim. The fallen Dante is under the assumption that the surviving Dante forgot about him.

  • (Inner Monologue) So she killed the Joker. Before Raptor News took over on every channel, when I was a kid at Saint Lamia’s, I remember Gotham City being a really big deal on T.V. for a while. I used to watch news stories about Batman and Robin taking on the Joker. I always thought Robin would be the coolest guy to be friends with. Then Hell started to take over and slowly it cut Limbo City off from the rest of the world, with Bob Barbas and his one-sided news about everybody being a terrorist. That sucked but it also sucks that Vergil’s trafficking people from Gotham City to live here. I mean, unless he accidentally kidnaps Batman and Robin. Those two would clean this place up, I bet. It would be so funny to see Robin kick him in the face. I thought I saw Robin once in a rift, now that I think about it.

  • (To Jason) There used to be a lot of humans. Most of them died when the Demon World revealed itself. Something you need to know, my friend, is that the demons follow Vergil as their king. He is no king. He’s Nephilim like me. My evil twin. I’m trying to protect you from him. You need to know that, okay?

  • (To Legendary Dante, after entering Purgatory) For a few years, after you showed up in Limbo City, I wished for you to show up again. For a while, whenever demons would surround me, there was always a moment where I would anticipate you coming and taking me away to Fortuna. Even now, I still imagine it's a heavenly place. But it got too painful, the disappointment, so I made myself give up on you. I couldn’t keep hoping for something that was never gonna happen again. I remember where I was when I let you go. It was after a fight with four demons in a gutter. I was sixteen. Took a blow to the head. Dunno if you can feel it right now. Those demons thought they’d killed me, left me lying in some muck under a bridge after they cracked my skull. I still have the scar on my face, on my cheek and my brow. Never bled so much in my life. It was everywhere, but nobody saw. I could see people walking by, on the bridge, but I was in Limbo, so they couldn’t see me. Even when they looked down, they kept walking, like I wasn’t even there. I started wishing for you to lift me out of that nasty-ass water. I listened for your gunshots, for your footsteps, for your voice. Then it hit me… and I started to cry… because I realized… that you were never coming back for me.
