Vessels [CAST CALL]

Vessels [CAST CALL]

Project Overview

Heya! If you're new and you haven't heard of Vessels, or heard the premise of it. Here is a recap!:

"VESSELS Is a concept of how one person can be the chosen few, the ones to be the great hope for their own sake (willing or unwilling). The main character of the story: Kiran, is born with the cure of an unknown plague that spreads across Fall City. Where, she is the only few that are immune to this. Meanwhile, everyone else, either took shelter or left the city entirely. Or, became hosts/husks of their former selves. She was already the odd one out of the group, and made herself completely void and deserted from her mind, reminding herself that she was born to be an outcast. Yet, a lucky one at best. Vessels was written as an analogy of anxiety and dark thoughts. Although, the light still shows its cracks."

Korbin (The Guide / Crow)

Role: A guide for Kiran, Korbin serves as her mentor, companion, and protector throughout her journey to face Lorne. Korbin isn’t just any crow; he has a deep connection to the spiritual world, possibly an ancient entity trapped in a crow’s form.

Backstory:

  • Origin: Korbin wasn’t always a crow. Once, he was a scholar and priest who worked for a powerful faction that sought to control the ancient gods. During an ill-fated ritual, Korbin attempted to harness the power of Lorne to save his people from a different plague. The ritual backfired, trapping his soul in the body of a crow, with only fragments of his former self remaining.
  • Connection to Lorne: Korbin believes Lorne’s curse upon Kiran is a result of a broken pact between the god and his former order. Korbin’s role is to guide Kiran in breaking the cycle and defeating Lorne, but his own knowledge is imperfect. He seeks redemption for his failure and is haunted by the knowledge that his actions helped bring about the plague.
  •  Personality: Korbin is wise, but also cynical. He has seen the destructive nature of power and the consequences of meddling with gods. He holds a deep respect for Kiran and is very protective of her, though he sometimes hides his concern behind sarcastic remarks or cryptic advice. While he’s a guide, Korbin struggles with his own demons, occasionally revealing hints of guilt or regret over his past actions.
  • Abilities: As a crow, Korbin can travel between the realms of the living and the dead, offering Kiran glimpses into the spiritual world. He can communicate telepathically, and his crow form is highly agile and capable of scouting. In his human form (if he chooses to appear), Korbin is a formidable strategist and a minor practitioner of magic. He can manipulate illusions or foresight, helping Kiran in ways that aren’t always clear at first.

Visual Design:

  • Appearance: In his crow form, he’s sleek and black with ominous eyes that seem to glow faintly in the dark. His human form (which may only appear at certain times) is lean and aged, with a long coat that gives him an air of mystery. His eyes are sharp, and his movements are often described as being eerily precise, almost like a predator.
  • Symbolism: Crows represent death and guidance, and Korbin’s wings could symbolize his connection to the spiritual world. A unique feather or charm, possibly tied to the ritual that cursed him, is often seen hanging around his neck.

Terra – The Guardian of the Lost

Role: Once a fierce protector of Fall City, Terra now roams the desolate outskirts as a vigilante, looking for ways to save the remnants of her home. Terra’s personal vendetta against Lorne leads her to team up with Kiran, even as her anger initially clouds her judgment.

Backstory:

  • Origin: Terra hails from a warrior line dedicated to defending Fall City from external threats. When Lorne’s plague descended, she fought bravely at the city's gates but eventually lost her family to the demonic transformation. Left alone and grieving, she became hardened and embittered, choosing to live a life in the wastelands, hunting the infected to reclaim what remains of her hometown.
  • Connection to Kiran: Initially viewing Kiran as a symbol of what she’s lost, Terra struggles to accept the girl as a beacon of hope. She’s torn between her desire to protect Kiran for the city’s future and her overwhelming rage against all that Lorne has done. As they journey together, Terra learns to balance her fury with the need to foster hope, finding a renewed purpose alongside Kiran.

Personality:

  • Terra is fierce, passionate, and headstrong, often acting impulsively based on her emotions. She embodies a warrior's spirit, quick to defend those she cares about, but struggles with trust due to past betrayals. Her anger fuels her motivation, but it also clouds her judgment, leading to friction with more cautious allies like Uri. Beneath her tough exterior is a vulnerable soul longing for solace in a world ravaged by chaos.

Abilities:

  • A formidable fighter, Terra is skilled in hand-to-hand combat and adept with a spear, a weapon of her ancestors. Her combat skills are complemented by her keen survival instincts, allowing her to track and ambush infected and other threats. Additionally, her deep connection to the land grants her unique insight into its hidden paths and secrets.

Visual Design:

  • Terra’s appearance reflects her warrior heritage, featuring battle-worn armor that blends practicality with a hint of elegance. Her hair, often tied back in a braid, frames a face marked with determination and sorrow. Scars and tattoos tell stories of her battles, and her piercing gaze holds a fierce intensity. Terra’s presence is both commanding and inspiring, embodying the struggle of a guardian fighting not only for survival but for the soul of Fall City itself.

  • What if I fail Kiran? What if I can’t protect her from the darkness? These fears... they claw at me every single day.

  • I am Terra, the Guardian of the Lost. I may have faltered, but I will never let this city die while I still breathe!

  • Sometimes, when the sun sets over the wasteland, I close my eyes and pretend it's Fall City once more—alive, vibrant... whole. But I can’t just sit and wish; I have to fight for it.

Lucas - The Historian
Role: Lucas is an enigmatic scholar and keeper of ancient knowledge, navigating the remnants of Fall City’s past while seeking hidden truths that may help Kiran in her quest. His deep understanding of history and mythology makes him a crucial ally, albeit one shrouded in mystery and personal motives.

Backstory:

  • Origin: Lucas grew up in Fall City, where he devoted his life to the study of ancient texts and the history of the land. As a child, he was captivated by tales of gods and their conflicts with mortals, but the onset of the Daimonikós Plague shattered his idyllic view of the world. He lost family and friends to the affliction, deepening his resolve to understand its origins.

  • Connection to Kiran: Lucas believes that Kiran holds the key to understanding the true nature of Lorne’s vengeance and the origins of the plague. Intrigued by her immunity, he teams up with Kiran, hoping that her journey will uncover long-buried secrets. However, his thirst for knowledge is often driven by an obsession that can cloud his judgment.

Personality:

  • Lucas is intelligent, contemplative, and somewhat aloof. His knowledge often leads him to see the world through a tactical lens, analyzing situations rather than feeling their emotional weight. While he possesses a kind spirit and hopes for redemption, his obsession with the past can make him neglect connections with those around him—particularly Kiran, whom he treats as a subject of his studies rather than a friend.

Abilities:

  • Lucas is a remarkable scholar, possessing skills in ancient languages, ceremonial lore, and mythic history. He also has a knack for deciphering riddles and traps, making him a useful companion in navigating the ruins of Fall City. When the situation demands it, he wields a staff, infused with symbols of protection, but he is not as combat-ready as others, preferring diplomacy and cunning.

Visual Design:

  • Lucas is of average height, with an unkempt appearance that reflects his obsession with books and scrolls rather than personal grooming. His hair is tousled, streaked with gray, and he often wears layers of robes adorned with cryptic symbols, a testament to his scholarly pursuits. His eyes are a striking shade of green, filled with a mix of wisdom and deep sorrow. He carries a weathered satchel filled with scrolls, texts, and a few of his most treasured ancient artifacts, each with their own story.

  • Your immunity is not a mere fluke, Kiran. It is an echo from the past, a whisper of fate. If we decipher its meaning, we may hold the key to understanding the plague—and Lorne’s wrath.

  • I often forget... that even scholars must connect, must feel. You remind me of the warmth that knowledge can obscure.

  • I may not wield a sword, but every word I speak is a blade, every scroll a shield. Let us navigate these ruins with cunning, not brute force.
