Veilborne - An indie animated horror series
Project Overview
Welcome to the official casting call for Veilborne, an upcoming animated horror series blending weirdcore, dreamcore, and psychological horror.
Veilborne follows Artessa, a human girl who stumbles into the Veil — a fully realized, cohesive world ruled by the enigmatic Royal Family. While everything here seems perfectly normal to its inhabitants, Artessa is the anomaly. The world begins to change her, physically and psychologically, pulling her closer to becoming one of them. She must navigate grotesque-but-ordinary customs, eerie citizens, and the omnipresent Royal Family, all while trying to escape before she gets completely infected and the inevitable happens.
We’re looking for voice actors, artists, animators and collaborators who can bring surreal horror, subtle tension, and weirdcore style to life.

Allyon is a chaotic, unpredictable demon trapped in another body. He's playful, unhinged, and chaotic. Allyon’s voice shifts between manic energy, teasing humor, and a little bit of a menace. He's mischievous, clever, and not quite what he seems. He can be both charming and unsettling at the same time.
"Relax! If the Realm wanted you gone, you’d already be gone… see? You’re still here!”
“Rules are just suggestions if you smile while breaking them.”
Age/Appearance: Ageless, impossibly composed
Personality: Calm, intimidating, commanding; perfection that is terrifying to Artessa, but normal to citizens.
Tone/Voice: Low, serene, chillingly polite; should feel inhumanly perfect.
(Male or Female va)
(Addressing citizens) "The hum sustains us all. Remember your place. Remember the Veil’s order."
(To Artessa) "Ah… you feel the hum more strongly than the others. Fascinating. Do you wish to join, or will you resist?"
Personality: Ethereal, mysterious, unsettling; the source of the city’s “hum.”
Tone/Voice: Soft, melodic, hypnotic; voice should feel almost like it’s resonating internally with Artessa.

(Whispering, to Artessa) "The city remembers you… it likes you, in a way. It wants you to stay."
(Publicly, calm) "Every breath, every step, every thought… flows through the hum. We are all echoes, you see."
Ruin is laid-back, witty, and unbothered, he uses dry humor and sarcasm to deflect stress. He acts like nothing fazes him but it’s mostly an act. Underneath the charm he is anxious, hyper-aware, and afraid of things going wrong.

(Warning) "The longer you stay, the closer it pulls you. To them… or to the Veil itself. There’s no middle ground."
When new characters are introduced, should you decide to audition for this role, you will be considered for the part automatically.
Personality: Normal to them, grotesque to Artessa. Calm, routine, often mechanical or ritualistic.
Tone/Voice: Matter-of-fact, slightly monotone; can have odd cadence or subtle distortion to convey “alien normal.”

Responsible for character designs and posters etc...
2D digital with analog textures (VHS grain, subtle jitter, static overlays).
Muted color palettes(some pastels) with occasional harsh reds or alien tones.
Weirdcore-inspired designs: subtle distortions, alien geometry, grotesque-normal citizen behaviors.
