V3 Aftermath Prologue Characters
Project Overview
V3 Aftermath is a near-canon sequel to Danganronpa V3, following the survivors as they battle external dangers and internal turmoil. It is an open-source Unity visual novel game featuring a dynamic investigation mechanic.
We are seeking voice actors for 6 characters that appear in the prologue, which we plan to record for in November and early December.
Content warnings for the prologue include violence, death, trauma, suicidal ideation, human experimentation, mild depiction of blood, and non-explicit description of gore. Additional content warnings for the rest of the project include, but are not limited to, derealization, abuse, stalking, doxxing, torture, and medical malpractice.

Deadline: October 24, 2025, 11:59 PM Pacific Daylight Time
Payment: This is an unpaid position.
Commitment: Be able to record a substantial amount during November and early December, and be in contact for additional recordings in the long term.
Age requirement: 16+
Microphone quality: Applicants with better mic quality will be strongly preferred.
Submission format: For each character you audition for, submit one file in a standard audio format. Order takes in AABBCC format.
Process: There will be no dismissals or feedback before the deadline, and callbacks, if we decide to do them, will occur after auditions close.

Character Description: Shuichi is 17 in V3 Aftermath. He has always been lightweight and rather timid, but will boldly advance in the face of danger when the situation calls for it. His newfound confidence, both as a detective and as a person, is still on shaky ground, and he tirelessly seeks answers that he thinks will solve the problems around him and absolve the guilt he feels.
Voice Description: Smooth, somewhat breathy, and soft masculine / androgynous voice. Eloquence and inner confidence shine subtly through soft spoken mannerisms. Delivery should be dynamic with clear emotions.
We wish to differ greatly from his canon voice. While there’s leeway for Himiko and Maki, imitations of Shuichi’s original English or Japanese voices will be dismissed.
Fourth line that CCC refuses to put in: “I'll... be fine... i-in a minute. I-I just... I need a break.” (panicking, downplaying overwhelming emotions)

“This fight isn't over. Whatever we thought we did by ending our game on our own terms, it isn't enough.” (emphasizing, talking to himself more than others)
“You're just going to walk away, quick and simple, like nothing happened?” (shocked, furious)
Character Description: Maki is 16 in V3 Aftermath. The memories of her teenage years were stolen and replaced by cruel assassin training. She is often at war between her cold, desensitized shell and her volatile, sentimental heart. Unable to understand her emotions, she shelves them for another time and focuses on protecting her friends.
Voice Description: Mid-high youthful female voice with a sweet tone, forced into a deadpan and unsympathetic cadence at the bottom of their pitch range. Usually calm and monotone with an unimpressed edge, but much more expressive when in high emotions.

“What else would you have me do? Try to disarm them non-lethally, tiptoe around it like a softie, wait for them to call for backup and tell the whole facility where we are?” (angry, agitated)
“I... I hate to say it, but he's right. We really need to go. I was wrong to assume that my talent could keep you safe.” (defeated, recovering from shock)
Character Description: Himiko’s appearance and behavior lag a couple years behind her true age of nearly 15 due to natural late development. She loves her induced magician talent, but finds that it pales in comparison to her peers’ talents. She struggles to catch up to her friends and be helpful to them, not knowing her own undiscovered potential.
Voice Description: Mid-high female range. A stilted, slow cadence with a slight slur in words, like an anti-social child struggling to put their thoughts in words. Youthful, but not too abrasive or grinding on the ears. Emotions are expressed clumsily and a bit off-center.
We are not looking for impressions of the original voice.

“Sh-Shuichi, I dunno what's going on, but... Y-You gotta live, no matter what, okay? We fought so hard to survive until now.” (desperate, worried)
“That's why we offered ourselves up to die back there, right? To make people stop watching, so that more killing games don't happen?” (confused, put off)
“Nyehh, this is the best cup of tap water I've had in my life. Can we get more?” (relieved, whimsical)
Character Description: This character adopts two distinct and different personas. The first is alien and disturbing with a wooden demeanor and an erratic tendency to veer between apparent sanity and apparent insanity. The second is authoritative, charismatic, and well-spoken, with a demeanor that seems to make even nonsensical ideas make perfect sense.
Voice Description: Both voices are in a low male range and should have a certain eloquence and charisma, but it should feel misplaced and odd in the first persona and be a natural feature of the second persona.
The first persona should speak in an erratic and creepy cadence, typically within a calm and cold range, but occasionally slightly more passionate.
The second persona should sound bassy, smooth, and well-spoken, like a trustworthy leader or teacher.

“And you would be correct. One cannot script a human being's actions at that level of specificity.” (first persona, affirmative)
“These three uninitiated have a purpose to serve in the wider world. You must not halt the trajectory of the greater will.” (second persona, persuasive)
Character Description: This assassin hides everything about their identity and seems only focused on whatever job they were ordered to complete. Their steady, frightening gaze pierces through everything.

“I do remember, but... there's no reason to remember. It won't help me now, not in this world.” (evasive, slightly regretful)
Character Description: This character is an AI assistant that always speaks in the same unfeeling, customer-service tone. It can use words to give the appearance of emotions, but it never voices them like a human would.
