Far to the northern sea there was an island of ice with a thin stretch of land that allowed living in the otherwise harsh environment. On that land was Issoq, a humble small village of fishermen and farmers that had lived in relative peace and harmony. One day however all of the village’s musk ox whose milk and meat were important for Issoq’s wealth had disappeared. The village shaman Orpa claimed it to be the work of a malevolent spirit. Only someone with courageous heart could hope to vanquish the spirit so the task of confronting Anaana fell on Orpa’s daughter, Usinna…
Usinna's Adventure is an upcoming short 2D platfromer made as part of Luotsaamo 2.0 team's - a Finnish project aiming to advance youth's employment possibilities - video game making course and being the ambitious person I am I wanted to enhance this little game with voice acting. The full game will be published for free on itch.io and a shorter version of it will be presented on June 6 at a public event in Jyväskylä, Finland. More information on Luotsaamo 2.0 can be found here (the page is in Finnish) where you can also find the games made by the previous courses just to give you an understanding on the game's scope.
If you are cast you are expected to deliver your lines by May 15 and you shall receive payment via PayPal after sending them all. While the game will be freely available and I'm not a rich person I still wanted to give at least something for an actor's work.
General recording rules apply; clean sound with none to minimal background noise and all that stuff. Be aware that the design of the characters may change during the development process. This casting call is also featured on Voice Acting Club.

As the daughter of the village shaman Usinna knows the meaning of responsibility and for a 12 year old she's surprisingly well versed. While her courage sometimes comes out as bluntness and tends to be serious she can crack a smile when needed and cares for her family who she's willing to protect at any cost. The role has around 540 words.
(She's talking to her little brother who is worried about her safety.)
"Can I tell you a secret? I’m little nervous about this too."
(She's talking to her mother who is regretful about certain actions and thinks she doesn't deserve her children's love.)
"Don’t be silly, mom, of course you do! You are kind and take care of us. What more could I ask for?"
(Her response to a malevolent spirit who explained its motivations.)
"That’s it? You’re doing this because you think humanity sucks?"
Village shaman is a respected profession yet Orpa has always felt there's more to this world than the ice-barren island. She tries to be a good mother to her two children and hates herself for all the terrible acts she's forced to commit in order to protect them. The role has around 300 words.
(She's sending her daughter on a dangerous journey.)
"Well… you have to grow up sooner than I expected but that’s life sometimes I guess."
(She sends her daughter on a dangerous journey but at the end says something uncharacteristically creepy. This is a hint that she's slowly being affected by a malevolent force.)
"Now make haste, Usinna. Give no mercy."
(She talks to her daughter who just saved her from a terrible fate.)
"I’m sorry I dragged you into this. I’m not fit to be a responsible leader or mother. I don’t deserve your love…"
Also known as The Beast of Thousand Screams this malevolent spirit feeds on human greed. It personifies this as well with its endless graving for more subjects to become part of its collective mind. In case you want to add effects to your audition you can do so but in that case I'd also like to hear the raw version as well. The role has around 190 words.
(It explains its motivations to attack Usinna's home island.)
"We are formed from the screams of thousands. Ancient creatures. We feel humans. Wrath. Greed. Desires. We scream. Humans consume all. Their greed feed us. We consume them. All creatures with them."
(It admits Usinna is a credit to her species.)
"We admit. You have courage. You can tell the difference. Between a friend and a foe. We feel warmth in you. Child. However. You are merely an exception of your species. It is a pity."
(It decides its ready to battle.)
"Enough talk. Child. We shall consume. More."
Usinna's little brother is more introvert than his at times brash sister and tends to avoid conflict. Despite this Kunuk has friendly rivalries with Usinna from time to time and overall is a polite kid who can be friends with practically anyone. While the character is male I'm also accepting auditions from females who can pull a believable voice for a ten-year old boy. The role has around 120 words.
(His response to his sister who jokingly says she's going to kick his butt if he tells anyone she's a tad worried about her quest.)
"Pft. I’ll kick your butt first."
(His sister asks him if he has noticed anything odd about their mother recently.)
"Like how she suddenly says scary stuff and pretends it was nothing? Just yesterday. Do you think she’s sick?"
(Kunuk speaks to his sister who is about to go to face a bigger danger than they expected.)
"Please come back."
Anaana is the guardian spirit of Usinna's home island. Kind, caring and emphatic who trusts in humanity's potential for good. In case you want to add effects to your audition you can do so but in that case I'd also like to hear the raw version as well. The role has around 120 words.
(She has repelled a hex from Usinna who allowed her to do this despite little trust.)
"I have repelled the hex that prevented you from seeing the truth, child. Thank you for putting your trust in me."
(She speaks to Usinna who realizes to have accidentally done something terrible.)
"I know. Do not fear. Your heart is still pure."
(Says this to herself after Usinna does something brash).
"What a fearless, crazy child."
