Escape - Minecraft Crime Series [CLOSED]

Project Overview




ESCAPE

Be sure to check in for new roles and re-audition with different voices if you can, it's always being edited for new characters and we need all the extras we can get!

Synopsis:
3 teenagers who are best of friends, Joel, Aleisha, and George get trapped in New Block City and have to escape from "The Force", who they caught committing a large-scale crime. After an incident by Silicon Park where they get a glimpse of the perpetrator and are warned by a dirty cop to stay out of their business, everything goes down. Since they have incriminating info on the incident, henchmen are being sent by The Man to scour the city for them. Later on, they get info from a trusted source about a minor deal going on, and they make it their mission to record and "safely" take down the syndicate. However, they don't know what they're in for and get into a lot of trouble (which I won't reveal). Nowhere is safe. They have to... Escape.


My Plans:
I want to bring in a total of 15-25 minor characters and 4-5 main characters for a 12 episode season. The episodes will be 10 minutes long and each main character will likely require 2-3.5 minutes of speaking time as their character. Side characters are between 5 seconds and 1 1/2 minutes. The time of trailer release is Christmas and the first episode airs January 1 on my YouTube channel. I've left certain characters up to the imagination when it comes to voice, and I want you to be able to show your best side in voice acting when you audition. I am being serious about this series, this is not just a small project of mine.


My Expectations:

1. You MUST have a decent microphone*! I will PM you the Discord link when you're accepted and I expect .mp3 or .wav files.
3. DO NOT SPOIL! I want our cast to be the utmost secretive about our process.
4. Please be 13+.
5. YOU DO NOT REQUIRE MINECRAFT.
6. You have to be committed. Sick days are one in a million, and you will be fired if you have multiple 'issues' or 'mistakes' that you can't control for some reason.
7. I expect you to be active on Discord. You must be able to reply to pings and provide lines on time.

  • Escape Show is Over... Starting a Show

    Thank you all for being so awesome and dedicated to this show, but I need to take it a different route due to my initial method of running into this experience like a chicken with my head cut off. My plan is to make a separate casting call for a movie which will be longer, longer to make, higher quality and more in tune with people's expectations. I will need new, more professional voice actors for different characters and I will cast way more people and need way more writers.   • EPISODE 1 FINISHED PRODUCTION

    There was incredible response to this casting call, INCREDIBLE. I'm so glad to say that Episode 1 is as good as done. We plan on putting Episode 2 in production immediately and adding characters as needed.

  • Deadline was pushed ahead a few days

    Just letting all prospective voice actors and followers know that I have officially pushed the deadline back to allow room for new auditions for side roles and to allow me to continue writing the script for the next couple episodes.

Who is he?
Jim is a man past his prime who used to live a life of bad decisions. Now, he seeks to help others do what's right and take down crime once and for all in the city. He uses his connection to the community to give information on what's new and what rumors he heard about what was going to go down. A family friend of Aleisha's, Jim is helpful to the teens in figuring out how to take down "The Force" once and for all.


What does he sound like?
Middle aged, deep voice with a southern accent, hint of deep emotion and caring. Take your own spin on him, but you have to sound the part. 40-50 year old sounding voice actors wanted.

What does he look like?
See picture. Bald, goatee, blue jacket and white undershirt. His gruff appearance, however, is overshadowed by a caring personality and a sincere need to do what's right.

Narrator - Joel's Inner Voice

The Narrator
The Narrator sometimes appears as Joel's inner monologue. The Narrator first appears in episode 3 during a particularly stressful moment. I need his voice to be deep, thoughtful and reminiscent of the guy from the Ford commercials. Obviously he sounds nothing like Joel.

  • Close your eyes. Look around you. You can feel everything.

  • Cars move freely down the street, people go blissfully to their jobs unaware of any wrongdoings going on in the world.

  • Here you are, running to an unknown danger… Nobody cares.

Who is he?
Joel is a local parkourist and casual gamer who likes to meet up with his friends to explore the abandoned parts of New Block City. He's outgoing, cocky, and keen to jump into problems before thinking. He's the protagonist of the series.

What does he sound like?
Honestly, he was cast so fast that I didn't have the time to figure out what he should sound like. Listen to the accepted audition and you'll get an idea.

What does he look like?

  • (Joel almost falls off a ledge after being shoved by one of his friends) Aleisha, would you stop clowning around? You could have killed me!

  • (He witnesses a crime being committed) Guys, look! He's taking it all. I should go in and stop them! (Joel gets warned by another character) No, I won't get shot, I'm too careful for that!

  • (Joel is in an argument with someone else) Look, I know you care about me, but stop getting into my business! You only want me to be safe, but the best way to do that is to get out of my way!

Who is she?
Aleisha is a black-haired girl from the suburbs of New Block City who lives with her parents in a nice home off behind the Austin Tower. Her friends are Joel and George, and she likes to go out on adventures through the city with them. She always nags Joel when he does something dangerous because she secretly cares about him and doesn't want him to die. Her tagging along with the two boys gets them out of trouble in several scenarios and plays a huge role in solving the true identity of The Man and saving New Block City from the clutches of the evil criminal syndicate 


What does she sound like?
I have no specific wants for her voice, but I'd like for it to be very clear and confident, as that's where I want to go with her character. To be honest, just do your most genuine, authentic voice for her. She must sound around the age of 17-18 however, and I want her to be emotional and likeable.

What does she look like?
See picture. Black hair, 4 pixel eyes + lashes, red/pink hoodie.

Who is he?
George is a redheaded 14 year old from Britain who always tags along with Joel. He's loyal yet slightly cautious around his older friends, and despises the name his parents gave him, as "it's too bland". His adventurousness tendencies and dry humor are what are appealing to the other members of the team. The others do get fed up with him sometimes as he tries to take the easy way out in a stressful situation. He thinks outside of the box when he wants to, however, and gets good grades in school.

What does he sound like?
His voice is a slight English accent. His voice is deep enough that he doesn't seem 14, but some of his mannerisms show otherwise. Like the way NB4 does his voice (cast as George) I kind of wanted straight-faced humor and a tinge of sarcasm from him.

What does he look like?
See picture. George looks like a red-headed Minecraft character, with hoodie and 4 pixel eyes.

  • I wish I had a cooler name, like Brad, or Gerald. (Joel and Aleisha look at him strangely) I don't know, it was just a thought.

Who is he?
Scared Man's in the first scene as a minor one-time character. He talks to the Masked Man (cast to offsite actor previously) as he botched up a heist.

What does he sound like?
His voice is slightly quavery with fear, and he has certainty that he is going to die. I'm looking for teens or people below 25 to voice him, so he sounds like a man in his early 20s.

What does he look like?
See picture. Generally looks like a normal Minecraft player, a male with blue hoodie and 2x2 pixel eyes. Has one appearance.

  • You paid me to steal from that bank, and that’s what I did! The cops came so I cheesed it before I could get everything!

  • Either way I was screwed, man! Let me be. My sister and my parents need me to pay the bills. We’re gonna be evicted, dude! Just let me go and I won’t say a word!

The Man

Who is he?
The Man is the antagonist of the series. His demeanor is deep, calculated and precise, but he has an Achilles heel that he doesn't want to have found out.  Even though his identity is unknown, he is hailed as the most wanted man in NB City. His annoyance with the three teenagers grows exponentially every episode, with more and more of his attention being drawn to their exploits and attempts to destroy his business in strategically planned crimes.

What does he sound like?
He's very sure of himself, very sinister and talks with a smooth tone. He has a deep, cold voice. I want him to sound like a full-grown adult.

What does he look like?
A man with a business suit... he guarantees that you won't know what his face looks like till your last breath.

  • Are you wondering why you're here? Well, you saw something you shouldn't have and now you have to pay the price.

  • Who sent you? You seem innocent enough, but I believe there is more at play with you three. And if I don't find it now, I'll find it in the time that you're sitting here.

  • Again, child, you're destroying any expectations that I had for you to let it be. Now you are my number one priority... and nobody wants to be that, do they?

Who is he?
The Evil character is a voice that I'm looking to write in but don't have a defined character for yet in the script.


What does he sound like?
Sound sinister, deep, and put your own flair on the voice. If you like D&D alignment charts, he's some amalgamation of lawful and chaotic evil. For this character, I'm specifically looking for good mics, like the AT2020, Snowball, or Yeti.

What does he look like?

  • [Interrogating] Listen. I'll tell you a secret. My boss is... paranoid. He says some stupid crap like "making sure the kids are safe", "no casualties that didn't have to happen," "they're just doing their job," like that ya know? See, I don't follow that philosophy. I intend to kill you.

  • [act as if you are over the phone with someone] Yessir. Yes, I am keeping everyone alive. Uh huh. Goodbye.
    See, that's how you lie. You kids are terrible at it. Now where are you hiding what we're looking for?

  • [Talking to a crowd of corrupt businessmen] Ladies and gentlemen, your businesses are held up on the backs of men that cannot be trusted. Here, you are all accepted. We can protect you from the authorities, and we can protect you... from teenagers. [pause and pretend people are laughing] Trust me, these little buggers can be hard to keep at bay. These three are perfect examples of your greatest threat.

Who is he?
The Dirty Cop is a police officer that tries to make the three teenagers forget what happened at the bank near Silicon Park. Later in the episode, he has a brief conversation with The Man.
 
What does he sound like?
A normal middle-aged man. Feel free to show your true colors with this one and stick to your natural tone. He's been on the force for years, doesn't give a crap about anything and just wants to get his work over and done with. He's supposed to be 28-35 years old.

What does he look like?
See picture. Skin might change before final shoot. The skin looks like a genderless police officer, but I'm looking for a middle-aged beat cop voice for him nonetheless.

  • I don’t trust that tone.

Who is she?
Ashley Smith is the local news anchor for New Block City. She will appear multiple times throughout the course of the season, and documents important events like the robbing of the bank from the first episode.

What does she sound like?
I want her to sound very professional and natural. Think your local news station. Between 23-30 is what I'm aiming for.

What does she look like?
See picture. Light brown hair, blue eyes, red jacket. Adult female.

  • Breaking news in New Block City last night, as a bank was robbed by a pair of men. Their identities are unknown, but a set of footprints by the scene has been confirmed to be a pair of size 13 boots.

  • Police has requested that if you see any suspicious activity, you are advised to call 911 immediately.

  • Up next, baby ocelot with two heads has been found abandoned in a local dumpster... I’m Ashley Smith, with channel 23 news.
