Umineko - Full Cast Audio Dramatization
Project Overview
What's the plan?
Umineko was originally divided into eight individual Episodes. This project will begin by adapting the first Episode, Legend of the Golden Witch. If Legend is successful, we will continue to adapt the other Episodes as well. Legend of the Golden Witch will be divided into five chapters, ranging from 45-60 minutes per chapter. Each chapter will be uploaded to YouTube, and the completed audio drama will be available to download. The goal is to, hopefully, have Legend completed by mid August.
A very rough demo can be found here. Please note that the final product will be far more polished.
- -You don't need to be familiar with Umineko to audition!
- -Umineko has a seriously massive cast of characters- Even if you do not get the role you wanted, you'll have plenty of other opportunities for this project. Currently, we are only casting characters for Episode 1- And there are 8 episodes in total! Don't feel down if you aren't cast in the first episode, there's a lot more roles on the way!
- -Accents of any kind are accepted. The characters are Japanese, speaking Japanese, living in Japan- I'm sure the audience can suspend their disbelief for an English Language audio drama.
- -This is only casting for the first Episode, and thus, only characters from the first Episode will be open for auditions.
- -Having difficulty pronouncing names? Check out this pronunciation guide.
- -Have fun!
A WORD OF WARNING: Some of the audition lines and character descriptions may contain some spoilers for Umineko.

Battler Ushiromiya, is at the center of the story and spends his time trying to unravel the mystery of the murders, both within the real world and within the Metaworld created by Beatrice. His tenacity and fiery determination make him a perfect opponent for Beatrice.
No good. No damn good.
A-and if I can’t, that automatically means it was a witch!? Are you saying every unsolved murder in the world was committed by a witch?
I’ll explain it all! I’ll do whatever it takes to deny you!! However impossible it looks, I’ll explain it all through human means!
The purported Golden Witch, and source of all the family’s wealth. She apparently gave Kinzo the gold he needed to rebuild his family fortune, and has now returned to claim it all. Whether she really is a witch, or perhaps Kinzo’s former lover, or his illegitimate child, or something else entirely, one thing we know for certain his that she is at the very heart of this entire mystery.
You don’t even know the host of the tea party to which you’ve been invited? (HAUGHTILY)
Love is lust, measured only by the hours your bed spends quaking and throbbing in the night. Men are maggots and flies, drawn at the base by the putrid scent you waft about your hips! And you still don’t understand, even at your age? (ENRAGED)
You are the only survivor. You are all that's left. And of course, I am not you. Yet I am here, and I will kill you. Who... Am I?
The Witch of Miracles. After having traveled through time, Bernkastel appears in Beatrice’s Metaworld with a desire to become a spectator in her game.
...Beatrice, there is no need to bare such hostility towards me. (DRYLY)
I am the cruelest witch in the world. No matter who the opponent is, I can bring them to their knees. ...even if it is the Endless Witch Beatrice. (CONFIDENTLY)
Beatrice once said that sharing tea with witches was her greatest pleasure... How quaint. I prefer the company of monsters. (SNICKERING MENACINGLY)
Eva and Hideyoshi's son. George is a kind, intelligent young man. His parents have high expectations of success for him, but all he cares about is being with his one true love. Regardless, as the oldest cousin, he lets his issues take a back seat to supporting and helping his younger cousins.
I don’t care if you’re the one who murdered Shannon or not... But if you truly exist as a witch... I’ll offer my life right here and now, so please, bring Shannon back! (DESPERATE)
Don’t worry, Battler, it won’t shake too much. (TEASING)
I know it’s hard to watch, but there’s nothing we can do. Let’s go back to the guest-house. (DEJECTEDLY)
Krauss and Natsuhi's daughter. Being forced to live on the island Rokkenjima, she harbors some resentment toward her family and their traditions. She's learned to cope, though, and comes to care deeply for those around her- Particularly Kanon, the newly hired servant boy.
I’m the head of the Ushiromiya family, Jessica Ushiromiya! I’m not a coward, and I won’t let you take my family away from me! (WITH CONVICTION)
Don’t get the wrong idea, Battler. Kanon’s kind of the silent type. He’s not really big on small talk, but he’s really nice at heart! (BASHFULLY)
Maybe it’s because of that typhoon headed our way... It’s supposed to start raining later this evening. (WORRIED)
Rosa's daughter. She's strangely educated on the topic of the Golden Witch Beatrice and the occult in general. She doesn't seem to understand the events taking place around her, and often goes off on wild-eyed rants about the twilights, the Golden Land, and other related topics. She's got a verbal tic, written as "Uuu."
Uuu~ Beatrice gave it to me! She told me to read it to everyone after we were all done eating. I’m the witch’s me-? Mes..? Messenger! (GLEEFUL, INNOCENT)
“If you can uncover the hiding place of my gold, I shall return everything. Now then, please enjoy this battle of wits against Master Kinzo to the fullest. From the bottom of my heart, I sincerely pray that this evening proves both elegant and intellectually refined. Signed, The Golden Witch, Beatrice.” (ARTICULATE, MENACING)
Who picked Maria’s rose?! Uuu, uuu!!! Give it back!! Give Maria back her rose!!! Uuu, uuu, uuu! Uuu! (WHINING)
A female servant working for the Ushiromiya family. She's very upbeat and optimistic, and despite her role as a servant she enjoys a casual, friendly relationship with the Ushiromiya cousins. In particular, she and George are enjoying a blossoming romance- although George’s mother doesn’t approve. She buys heavily into the story of the Witch, Beatrice.
That’s right. Master commissioned an artist to paint this portrait of Madame Beatrice, the Witch of Rokkenjima. (PROUDLY)
It’s alright. I can handle it... And knowing that you’re on my side makes my heart rest easier. (SUBMISSIVELY)
I will not be quiet. I am not furniture. ...I finally understand what you are. You live off of bullying, teasing, and intimidating others. And I finally realized that this is the only way to fight back against you. (CONFRONTATIONAL)
A male servant working for the Ushiromiya family. Unlike Shannon, he's very distant and reluctant to open up to people. He sees the servants as less than human—mere "furniture" there to serve their masters.
...your singing... ...was very good. (BASHFUL)
I’ve forgotten it. My real name isn’t important anymore. No matter what my real name was, my reality here as Kanon is all that matters. My past means nothing. (BLUNTLY)
This wound? Oh, it's nothing, it's nothing. Look, look, see? It's really not very deep at all. (DELIRIOUSLY)
Wealthy patriarch of the Ushiromiya family. They say he made a deal with the Golden Witch Beatrice to build his fortune, and later became obsessed with wanting to see her one more time. He seems to despise his family, and may well have created the riddle of the epitaph to force them all to fight over the family fortune.
...Nanjo. Be honest with me. How much time do I have left? (WISTFULLY)
Ahh, Beatrice! Why do you continue to refuse me!? The time has come for me to return all that you have given me. I’ll give up everything! So, please..! All I ask is to gaze upon your smiling face one last time! Beatrice! (WITH MANIC DESPERATION)
Krauss's wife. She's deeply committed to maintaining the pride and honor of the Ushiromiya name, to the point that Kinzo would seem to prefer her over Krauss as the leader of the family. Her devotion also, however, causes strife with the other family members.
You really have grown up quite a lot, Battler... (FONDLY)
This is Rokkenjima! The mansion of the Ushiromiya family! As Natsuhi Ushiromiya, head of the household, I hereby declare: There is no witch here! I do not accept Beatrice! I will not allow anyone to lay a finger on my daughter, or my family! (FIERCELY)
...oh my god. Why? Why didn’t you ever tell me any of this? Am I really so unworthy of your trust? (HURT)
Kinzo's eldest daughter. She's always had the desire to take control of the family, and this has caused years of conflict between her, Kinzo, and Krauss. She sees the epitaph as her chance to claim what is rightfully hers, and seems intent on seeing it through to the end.
Don’t you see? I have the most to gain from these murders. Of Kinzo’s four children, I’m the only one still drawing breath. So, now, all of the Ushiromiya family’s wealth belongs to me. But, you do realize, Battler... If I were the killer, why would I commit a murder that would immediately make me a suspect? No, I would have been more clever about it. (CALM, COOL)
Watch your mouth, you backwater country whore! You want to order around Eva Ushiromiya, second in line to the family fortune? Where on your clothes might I find the One-Winged Eagle? Know your place, you glorified maidservant! (FURIOUS)
Monster! You’re so blinded by money you’d kill a little girl? (MORTIFIED)
Rudolf's wife. Rudolf was originally married to another woman—Asumu, Battler's mother. Kyrie spent years tormented by jealousy, but after Asumu's death, Kyrie finally gained the object of her affection.
It's easy, so long as you look at it from the right angle. It's like playing chess- In your head, you have to flip over the chessboard, and try to see what your opponent sees. (CALM AND COOL)
A child is a bond, is what I’m saying. A chain that connects you to your husband. A bond to make Rudolf acknowledge me, so that I could take him back from that hussy. (MONSTROUSLY CALM)
Kinzo's youngest child. With no hope of ever taking charge of the Ushiromiya family, her main concern is gaining access to her inheritance to resolve her own financial troubles. She's a single mother who spends a lot of time away from home, which has had a lasting effect on her daughter.
I’ll go tell the captain to slow down a bit- I’m sure he wouldn’t mind. (GENTLE)
If you want to find it, find it yourself! Mama can’t be bothered right now. (ANGRILY, SNAPPISH)
Mama will help you find it later... We’ll just forget about it today... Okay? I’m sorry... I’m sorry for being such a bad Mama... (BROKENHEARTED)
Kinzo's eldest son. He's technically first in line to inherit control of the family fortune, but his siblings have consistently questioned his authority and ability. Krauss refuses to acknowledge the legitimacy of Beatrice's claim, but seems powerless to stop events from unfolding.
Wouldn’t it be grand if we could find Father’s hidden gold right now? Ah, that’s right! Why don’t we, as loving siblings, try figuring out Beatrice’s epitaph together? (HAUGHTILY)
...your headaches must be terrible tonight. (TENDERLY)
Eva's husband. Their relationship is one of genuine respect—he's tender toward her when she's feeling insecure or vulnerable, but he's also willing to call her out when he thinks she's wrong or out of hand.
Whaddya say, Eva! I just had a great idea! Let’s go to Paris! Around the new year! Just the two of us! Our second honeymoon!
Kinzo's third child. He has little interest in family leadership, but he's eager to get his share of the family wealth in order to pay off the substantial court settlement from a case he recently lost. He exudes confidence, a trait which has clearly been passed down to his son, Battler. Hopefully Battler didn't inherit his womanizing demeanor, though...
The only thing that makes a dessert even better is when it’s served to you by a beautiful girl. (FLIRTATIOUSLY)
...didn't you realize? People can kill for money. (SOMBERLY)
Head Servant to the Ushiromiya family. In addition to his general duties managing the island residence, he also acts as Kinzo’s personal servant and trusted confidant. He seems unfazed by the murders, but whether that’s due to his involvement or simply his iron will remains to be seen.
...Shannon, Kumasawa, what are you doing out here? Return to the kitchen, immediately. (STERNLY)
The family’s top female servant. She’s served the Ushiromiyas nearly as long as Genji, and she knows nearly as much as he does about them. She seems to believe utterly in the existence of the witch Beatrice, and talks at length about her and the other “evil spirits” on the island.
The sour sauce is made from vinegared Mackerel, and the tea is boiled with Mackerel broth! (CHEERFULLY)
The family’s personal chef. He left a lucrative job at a five-star resort to serve the Ushiromiya family, and he seems to be caught utterly unprepared for what happens on Rokkenjima.
No, no. You don’t understand. You’ll be the one making the mansion rounds. I’ll be the one waiting in the servants’ room. (NASTILY)
Thank you very much, sir. We’ll bring out the dessert now. I think you’ll all be very pleased with it. (PROUDLY)
Personal doctor for the Ushiromiya family. Due to Kinzo’s long-term illness, he and Dr. Nanjo have spent a lot of time together and grown quite close. But despite the doctor’s genial demeanor, one has to wonder just how much he knows that he might not be telling the others...
Your body only appears to be well thanks to the effects of the medicine. However, if you continue to drink such strong spirits, my treatment will become meaningless. ...Please, trust my judgement. Refrain from drinking.
