Auditions are Over!
Thank you so much to everyone who auditioned! The cast list has been posted, and I'm very excited to get working on this project. :)
Hello! Welcome to the audition page for my Tripping Over You Fandub project! :)
Tripping Over You (TOY) is an LGBTQ+ webcomic following the story of Liam Schwartz and Milo Dunstan as they begin and develop their relationship. You can read the comic here.
I do have a few rules for you to consider before you audition:
1. This is going to be a pretty long term project, so please only audition if you'll be able to stick with it. The comic is still currently ongoing, so if the dub ever ends up catching up, there will be a wait. Since Milo and Liam are the two main characters, this especially applies to the VAs for them.
2. Some characters are more frequent than others. Some have only appeared early on and some are just making their first appearances so far.
3. Skype will be the main way of communicating. I'll send scripts via email, but Skype is quicker if I need a response.
4. Mic quality is important. I will not consider you for a role if your audio quality isn't good. Please also use noise removal and make sure there is no loud background noise.
5. While I'm not going to force you to read the comic beforehand, I do reccomend it as it would be beneficial to know more about the character you're trying to voice.
Please let me know if you want feedback. I will only give if you ask for it. Additionally, feel free to audition for multiple characters and re-audition if you so choose.
All character descriptions and photos are from the comic's cast page. All audition lines are lines taken from the comic.
I'm not the artist or author of TOY, all credit goes to Owen and Suzana. [x]

*** Update (4/10): I've extended the deadline to May 22nd for two main reasons. One, I realized I'm probably not going to want to get this project started until after my spring semester ends, so I may as well leave auditions open. Two, I'm a little afraid of not getting any auditions for some characters, so I figure the extra month won't hurt (as there are a few characters who haven't received any auditioned on either site). The second reason is much more minor than the first. Thanks to everyone who's auditioned so far and I look forward to getting this project started!

Liam's older cousin, and the black sheep of the family. Alfons ran away at 18 to pursue a career in doing absolutely nothing. His talent for music pays his way in life while he depends on the hospitality of whoever he can sucker into sheltering him.
Voice Description:
Medium. Should have a heavier German accent than Eli.
(excited) "Ah! Liam! Little Liam! Look at you!"
"I made good choice to come visit Onkel Eli. I already feel at home!"
"Can you keep a secret, Leechen? I think maybe I'll run away and join the circus."
Liam's father. Strict and conservative, he's thoroughly disapproving of the choices his son's made in life. Liam spends a great deal of energy trying to do the impossible and please him, but usually comes away disappointed himself.
Voice Description:
Low. Stern, but also sad. Slight German accent.
"What trouble can a cat be for a few hours?"
"You should be more punctual, Liam. You are too old for this."
(distressed) "This boy, Riva... I do not know what to do with him..."
Milo is bubbly and talkative, which is unfortunate considering the fact he infrequently thinks before he speaks. He enjoys getting a rise out of certain people - and is also the type to snicker endlessly over puns like that. He is currently in university studying theatre and dance, but also works part time in his father's restaurant as well as his mother's dance studio.
Voice Description:
Medium-low to medium. Energetic, playful, and flamboyant.
"You don't seem the type to like being around lots of people. And I wouldn't have expected your dad to let you, the way you tell it."
"That's a cute dress. And for such brisk weather! You're brave."
"Even still - I'm really glad you came after all. I missed you."
Archie is Liam's best friend and former college roommate. He's more observant than given credit for - and also a great deal more understanding.
Voice Description:
Medium to high.
"How will we have a conversation!? I mean... What do girls even talk about?"
"We don't have much in common because I don't feel like I do much outside study."
"He didn't come back to our dorm last night. Is he sick?"
An aspiring professional dancer. Seems to make up her own rules as she goes. Assigned to be Milo's partner by their professor, making their professional relationship a little awkward as they try to become accustomed to each other. It helps that they're vaguely familiar with each other from previous dance classes.
Voice Description:
Medium-lowto medium high.
"God, you are so tense."
"Shush, shush, shush, next stretch!"
Chloe is just too nice. She's one of those girls you'd love to provoke to see if she has human emotions other than "bubbly" and "shy". She has a tendency to be self-absorbed.
Voice Description:
Medium-high to high.
"It's nice to meet you too. Thanks for the- what is this?"
"Oh! A Space in my Hope Chest! Right! So as I was saying."
Ally was a friend of Milo's in college. She's friendly and talkative, but with a temper a mile wide if she feels she or a friend is insulted. As an amateur actress, she made up the third leg of the Nerd Herd.
Voice Description:
Medium-high.
"Ugh, are they still going on about that?"
"Sports are great exercise! Practices alone are great for that!"
Liam is an anxious person. He doesn't sleep much, is often hot-tempered, is a champion for personal space, and has blood that's more caffeine than plasma. Maybe he'd relax a little if his father would tone down the high expectations. He currently lives at home while studying law in university.
Voice Description:
Medium-high. Kind of a nasally voice.
"You're a pretty popular guy, you know?"
"Archie... I don't think anyone likes bees. Wait. Why bees?"
(teasing) "A vulgar plant... obsessed with food and rear ends. Did they, ah, typecast for that role, or..."
Milo's younger thirteen-year-old twin sisters. They live with their mother, and now that Milo has moved out of his father's house they see their older brother less than they'd like. Coinciding visits are spent latching on to him and forcing him to cook for them. Molly is the curly-haired and more upbeat of the pair; Mina has entered her angsty-teenager phase early. (They wouldn't be especially pleased to share a cast page slot, but here we are.)
Voice Description:
Mediumto medium high. Upbeat and energetic. Should sound very similar to Mina.
**I'll probably look to cast Molly and Mina to the same VA.
"Milo! When did you get here!"
"Bye Milo's boyfriend!"

Voice Description:
Mediumto medium high. Should sound very similar to Mina, but much less energetic.

"Hi Milo's boyfriend."
"You weren't supposed to know that!"
Milo's mother. While Nora aspired to be an actress and a dancer once upon a time, her career was cut short by Milo's arrival on the scene. She traded university for a job and started her family at 18 years old - until the divorce 11 years later. She's remarried and expecting another child, but she can't help being a little bitter; her continued inability to get along with Dylan doesn't help the rift she's building between her children.
Voice Description:
Medium-low to medium.
"Goodness, I'm tired. You'd think I'd be used to this after three babies."
"Think of your future! Your career!"
In first year of law and shares a number of classes with Liam. Seems to be doing a great deal better than he is, however.
Voice Description:
Medium-low to medium. Should sound fairly androgynous.
"There's a phone near the front if you need to make a call."
"Hm? Oh, sure. No problem."
Penny is a manipulator. While she doesn't care for being social, she'll take advantage of a situation that can be turned in her favour - though it's not always clear what her intentions are. Kat seems to be the only person she cares for.
Voice Description:
Medium-low to medium.
"Maybe you could pull him aside when puppetmaster isn't looking."
"Yep! I think I read that in a fortune cookie once."
Noel doesn't know what it means to not get her way. Her family is very wealthy and of influential social standing. Liam may be a little enamoured of her, though probably not for the right reasons.
Voice Description:
Medium-low to medium.
"Don't even start with that with me. Juvenile humor doesn't work on me."
"Please. You think you're stressed?"
Dick is a man's man. He's got your back in any situation. Unfortunately, his idea of "having your back" is usually to be loud and overbearing, which is a lot more like pounding you in the back with a sledgehammer than having it.
Voice Description:
Low to medium-low.
"There's sexy maids, sexy Frankenstein... Sexy firemen... women... sexy fireladies."
"Heh. Alright, alright- we'll make a quick detour. I have an idea."
Vi is one of Milo's best friends. She's independent and self confident with a healthy dose of sass. Mechanically oriented, she mans the stage technician spot in the school's theatre club - landing her square in the Nerd Herd.
Voice Description:
Medium.
"There you two are! What's got Ally in a tizzy?"
"Do you ever get the feeling Lilam is always mad about something?" (Lee-lam. Spelt wrong on purpose)
Will probably cast a few, but I'm not sure how many will be needed.
Please do a few takes in different voices. (vary in age, pitch, and inflection).
"I don't have time for this."
"No cellphones in the archives, please."
"What, you planning on joining theater next?"
Liam's therapist and an old family friend of the Schwartz's. He's known Liam since Liam was a baby - and spared no details of his therapy sessions from Liam's father, Eli. As a result, Liam isn't terribly fond of the good doctor.
Voice Description:
Low.
"I received a note from your school. Your headmaster mentions you were in a fight recently."
"And your friend Milo was involved?"
Kat's been around the block a few times - which makes her excellent at giving advice. If only she took it herself she might be less jaded. Infrequently seen without her best friend, Penny.
Voice Description:
Medium to medium-high.
"Boys. So dense. Just go talk to him."
"I figured a sudden interest in taking 'hi-res shots of the moon' was a little cheesy for you."
An aspiring professional actor. There's an ocean and five hours newly placed between himself and his sorely missed friends and family, which may or may not encourage him to be slightly too desperate for human interaction - which some people find somewhat off-putting. (Which Milo finds somewhat off-putting.)
Voice Description:
Medium to high.
"I don't think I introduced myself before your pretend meltdown."
"Not gonna lie, I kinda miss home. It's pretty lonely."
"Okay! I'm choosing to read your sarcasm literally."
Milo's father, though Dylan and Milo frequently act more like brothers than father and son. Dylan is laid back and cares deeply for his children, though he can be sarcastic and bitter - especially when it comes to his ex-wife. With a tendency to instigate, Dylan is one who is likely to crack a rude joke - which for some people can often make a bad situation worse. He owns a restaurant and employs Milo part-time.
Voice Description:
Medium-low to medium. Sarcastic and dry.
"If you have time to talk on the phone you have time to clean toilets!"
"No, you don't have to apologize to me. Besides, he's been in a surprisingly better mood ever since."
