Transformers (IDW) - Audio Drama Adaptation

Project Overview

Hello everyone!

I am holding auditions for more characters in the Transformers audio
drama from StarForce Media. These include roles that need to be recast
as well as several new characters in the series. For those of you who
don't know, this is an audio dub of the Transformers
comic books from IDW Publishing, complete with SFX and music in order to
create a cinematic experience. A total of five episodes have already
been released on the channel and many more are already in production.

The stories that will be covered include the long-running series More
Than Meets The Eye and Robots in Disguise as well as various miniseries and
spotlights such as Last Stand of the Wreckers, the Autocracy trilogy,
Megatron Origin, and more.

This is a long-running project so do keep that in mind if you are cast. Should a problem arise, please let me know ASAP. You must stay in
contact with me in some way, shape, or form, whether that's through email, Skype, or Discord. I need to hear from you in
some form of communication and I'd rather not have you disappearing off
the face of the Earth. If you cannot commit to a project of this length,
then please don't audition. Nothing personal, but there have been many delays involving cast members dropping out without a word and it's imperative that the team and I keep production ahead.

Project Requirements:

-Have a good, quality microphone and recording space.

-Must be comfortable with mild swearing. There isn't an excessive amount, nor is it strong, but it's something to point out.

-Ability to meet deadlines. You will be given between 2-4 weeks to
complete lines and will be given either one script per episode or
multiple scripts. If you have scheduling conflicts, please contact me
about it.

-Do NOT submit recordings with robotic effects. Any and all effects will be handled post-editing.

-Must be willing to scream if a scene calls for it.
-Must be willing to commit to a long-term project.

The project will be posted on the StarForce Media channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgZUFZiZAi7LIOAEg_rg7RA/

Side note: The explainer video is the first episode in the series.

One final note: Have fun! If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.

Born as Orion Pax, he started off as a police officer with a strong sense of justice. Willing to uphold the law, yet stay true to his ideals, even going so far as to stand up to the corrupt Senate. Eventually, he was known as Optimus Prime after obtaining the Matrix of Leadership and became a great and powerful military leader who led his fellow Autobots into war against Megatron and his army of Decepticons. He is revered by many and reviled by some, but always carries a strong presence with him no matter where he is. When Optimus was Orion, he was still a bit green, reckless, and short tempered, letting his emotions get the better of him. More inexperienced, before gaining wisdom through the Matrix.

If you are cast, you will have a LOT of recording to do, so keep that in mind before trying out. While I don’t expect a full-on imitation, I would like something similar to our previous Optimus, given that he’s already made his debut in the series. For reference, please listen to the Death of Optimus Prime one shot here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wfVW_A9-TwE&t=314s

When he’s still Orion Pax before the war breaks out, he should sound slightly different in comparison. A bit younger than he is when he’s Optimus. Perhaps similar to Gary Chalk’s portrayal, though that’s open to interpretation.

  • (Optimus) Yes…No. I don’t know how I feel about you. Hate is too simple a
word. Too… easy. It might sustain you, Megatron. But it diminishes me. I
    am lessened by it.

  • (Orion Pax) Oh, I gathered intel, all right. I saw for myself what you’re planning,
Zeta. And it’s madness! Our war is against the Decepticons, not our own
    citizens!

  • (Optimus) I am Prime now. Optimus Prime. I’ve been given a second chance
to set things right. To fight for a better world. I ask you now… will
    you stand with me?

A Dinobot who’s mostly lived up to the team’s bad reputation. He can be bad-tempered, nasty, and extremely violent, making many wonder why he isn’t a Decepticon. He’ll fight anyone who gets on his bad side, but as much as he isn’t fond of the Autobots, he hates Decepticons even more. Later on in the series, due to Grimlock’s imprisonment in Garrus-9, he stepped up as the leader of the team. Outside of having a drink with his comrades, he loves nothing more than reducing his enemies to a crisp with his flaming breath and sword. It doesn’t matter how dirty the job is, he’ll gladly lead his fellow Dinobots to finish any mission.

Voice Type: Medium-low, low, rough

  • What does it matter if we get busted, Swoop? Prison ain’t so bad. It’s not like this is livin’.

  • (Angry) You got us into this damn mess in the first place, but you lord
over us like you’re above it all. You pipe the fuel… I’m out.

  • (Helping up a Cybertronian) They’re outcasts. We’re all outcasts. You like drinkin’ energon?

He runs a tight ship and is straight to the point, certainly not afraid of telling his colleagues what he thinks about them. He’ll take on any job for payment whether that includes hunting down deserted Decepticons or catching Titans with his crew.

Voice Type: Medium-low, low, rough

  • You know something, Barrage? You only ever bring me good news. That’s what I like best about you.

  • We really must sit down sometime so I can explain why we all hate you. We’ll start with your personality and go from there.

  • These are my men. And in a moment, because they’ve been very well-behaved, I’m going to let them kill you.

One of the new recruits to the Wreckers, a special task force usually assigned to the more dangerous and deadly missions the Autobots can’t handle. Inspired by Optimus Prime, he strives to emulate his hero in any way he can. Taking Prime’s ideals and methods to heart, he went so far as to alter his physical appearance to resemble that of Optimus. His greatest wish is to die gloiously in battle as Prime watches him in action. While being a bit obsessed with his hero, he still strives to do good. Doing his part to fight in battles and save lives before being recruited on a suicide mission to Garrus 9. However, he does tend to get a bit embarrassed from time to time. While his heart is in the right place, he tends to get caught up in his self-obsession and can be a bit arrogant as a result.

Voice Type: Low, deep

  • (In awe) By the sacred spires! A human! Optimus Prime’s data was right! They’re so delicate and in need of our protection…

  • Look, little miss liability, if it weren’t for me, you’d be a smear on Overlord’s boot!

  • It’s just… when Prime risks his life it’s to close a space-time rift, or
to prevent the Black Epoch, or to keep the Dead Universe at bay. But
me… I’m supposed to die by switching on a computer? I’m supposed to give
up my spark for that? No way. Sorry, Ironfist, but I won’t do it.

A member of the Wreckers and Twin Twist’s brother. Skilled, fearless, and is willing to do whatever it takes to see a job through. However, that doesn’t mean he’s willing to go in guns blazing, unlike his brother. In fact, he’d prefer pitting himself against nature and being a cartographer. But due to him and his brother sharing a branched spark, they can both feel pain when one of them gets injured. So, he keeps an eye on him to keep them both alive.

This role needs to be recast for Last Stand of the Wreckers issue 4 and potential future issues later on. While I don’t expect a full-on imitation of our previous Topspin, I would like something similar. For a reference, you can check out a sample of the voice here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iWar9_vJ2AM

  • Wish we could give you a scoop, “Fisitron,” but the only thing that sets
us apart from the rest is a knack for saving each other’s skin. Yeah,
and as of last count, I’m ahead by six saves.

  • (Frustrated) Well, unless it contains a fully sequenced cyber-genome, or
the uncensored version of the Autobot code, or—let’s think the
unthinkable—a roadmap to peace… I’d respectfully suggest that High
Command have sent us on a fool’s errand!

  • (Angry) This isn’t role-play. People die in stupid, pointless ways. Deal with it.

An Autobot who has accomplished many feats than one can imagine and one of the most well-known and respected ‘bots around. His positive attitude and good-natured personality does not waver and thus has earned him somewhat of a reputation for being the perfect ‘bot. Everyone seems to adore him or at the very least respect him. Everyone, that is, except for Rodimus, who becomes incredibly irritated easily in his presence. It doesn’t make things better that Thunderclash is on the same quest as he is, to find the Knights of Cybertron. He searches for them along with his crew on his ship, the Vis Vitalis.

Voice Type: Low, deep, heroic

  • Not at all. It’s my crew—they’re the brave ones, choosing to travel with
me. All those fights, explosions, and chases. It’s non-stop.

  • No, no, I was being sincere. I’m smiling because we’re on our own quest. We’re looking for the Knights of Cybertron.

Eventually the Decepticons strayed too far from their goals that he couldn’t tolerate their actions any longer, thus deciding to spend the rest of his days on Earth, growing fond of humanity and their ability to change. • You insatiable fools hunted this world to the point of extinction and
ruined any chance we had of finding a transport! It should be my fangs
    at your throat!

  • I told you when we left Cybertron that we had no interest in serving
Scorponok or his vision of a savage new Cybertron. While I admit, I do
hold with many of his more… predatory values… I swore my oath to
    Megatron.

  • Sorry, Bee. Looks like we struck out. Again.
