To be a Father - A Critical Role Audio Scene

Project Overview

"To be a Father” is a short, audial scene depicting one of the most incredibly heartfelt moments brought to life by the brilliant cast of Critical Role in season 2. It encapsulates a rather emotional interaction between the plucky young tiefling Jester Lavorre, and her recently identified father and genasi mob boss, The Gentleman. Throughout their late-night conversation, we learn secrets of The Gentleman's past and exactly what it takes to be a father.

This little project will be showcased on my own, personal YouTube channel (Callie Wills) and set to premiere sometime within the upcoming month. It also serves as a fantastic portfolio piece or demo reel material. Short, sweet, and emotionally rich!

Babenon Dosal - or as he is more often called - The Gentleman, is a renowned underground crime lord currently operating out of the imperial city of Zadash on the continent of Wildmount. He practically oozes confidence, and despite the rather unsavoury business he engages in, comes off as quite cheerful and approachable to most. In this specific context, he is forced to face the unexpected reveal of a hitherto unknown daughter come to confront him about a past that has thus far proven long-lost.

  • (Suave and charismatic)

"Welcome back to the Evening Nip! Come, sit, have a drink. I trust you bring good news?"

  • (Hesitant, trying to lighten the mood)

"For whatever it counts... I see a lot of her in you. Maybe it's the horns."

  • (Somber and matter-of-fact)

"Jester, I'm not your father. Any man can have a child, only someone who's around to raise them well can call themselves a father."
