Thirteen: A Fallout Podcast

Thirteen: A Fallout Podcast

Project Overview

Introduction

Thirteen: A Fallout Podcast is a fan-made podcast drama, telling the story of the original Vault Dweller from Fallout 1. The original Fallout game was a turn-based pseudo-isometric CRPG (computer roleplaying game) released in 1997. Very different from the Fallout games today's audience is more accustomed to (Fallout 3, 4, 76), many fans have not experienced the adventure that started it all. Thirteen's mission is to turn that story into a format digestible for all.

This first audition is for the role of our Narrator, who is an older and wiser Vault Dweller, retired from his adventuring and telling his story to the children of his village. Auditions for the rest of our cast of characters will come at a later date. Casting the Narrator first is important, as we will be later looking to find a younger/young adult Vault Dweller voice that sounds similar to the elder's, as they are the same character in different stages of life.

If you are interested in other roles besides the Narrator, please watch for my later auditions!

Requirements/What To Expect

  • As Narrator, you will have the most lines in the story. Please be prepared for this workload if you are cast in the role!

  • Please ensure that your microphone is capable of recording your performance without picking up overwhelming background noises or excessive peaking/clipping. (ie: ACs, fans, etc)

  • We may occasionally ask for a line-redo. Please don't take offense! We will try to instruct you if there is a certain way we would like a line reflected ahead of time, but there may be a time or two where we will ask for a second take.

  • Please submit your auditions as MP3. For final takes for the production itself, we ask for WAVs. Please name your files for the production "Episode # - CHARACTER NAME". We are not picky about the method of submitting: you may email to us (we will provide an email address after casting), send a Dropbox link, however is easiest for you!

  • This is an UNPAID role.

  • You will receive verbal credit at the end of each episode for your work.

  • You are welcome to audition for more than one character!

Closing

The deadline for submissions is OCTOBER 12th, 2022. At that time, we will make our decision and contact our choice for the role. Again, please keep an eye out for the next set of auditions, which will include the remainder of the main cast, and ensemble roles for Vault 13, Shady Sands, Junktown, The Hub, and Necropolis. A third later audition will include the roles for Lost Hills, LA Boneyard, the Cathedral, and Mariposa. If you have any questions, you may contact me via Twitter at @FOThirteen, or send me an email at FOThirteen (at) gmail.com

Good luck, and have fun! :)

Thank you for auditioning for Thirteen! I very much enjoyed all of the auditions sent in, but the role could only go to one person. To those who were not cast: I hope you come back to audition for other roles in the next casting call, found in the link below! Thank you again for being interested in the project! https://www.castingcall.club/projects/thirteen-a-fallout-podcast-2-ce7f5f08-4a40-4e01-a3a2-30bbf1ecb884

Role assigned to: Dr Mark Hauswirth

The narrator of Thirteen. Elder Albert is the famous Vault Dweller, now retired from adventuring and living out his remaining days in Arroyo, telling stories to the village children. As narrator, this character has the most lines in the story, so please be aware of this ahead of time! Looking for a mature, older/elderly voice that is clear and easy to understand.

  • No one moved as the words settled over them, echoing through their heads. Someone was to leave the vault. Nobody left the vault! It had been drilled in their heads since birth that the world outside was desolate, violent, and unsurvivable. Certainly there were those who were curious, who fancied the idea of seeing the world beyond the safety of their walls, but to actually go? It was unheard of.

  • War. War never changes. The Romans waged war to gather slaves and wealth. Spain built an empire from its lust for gold and territory. Hitler shaped a battered Germany into an economic superpower.

    But war never changes.

  • Albert considered this, giving a sigh. He was probably right; the rats might return for them if they were prone, and taking turns standing guard and sleeping would mean double the time wasted when they could be traveling in the cover of darkness. If they wanted to sleep, they would have to do so in the morning.
