Project Overview

"The Stars They Speak" is a 3D animated short film about a girl who can speak to the stars, and discovers a world unknown. Think of Beauty and the Beast meets Sci-Fi. I aim for the animation to be around 7-10 minutes. I should be completely finished with production in around a year or so, but it WILL be a finished project. I'm an animation student, so it's also for my final demo reel. The animation will be uploaded to youtube.

The story tends to shift slightly during production, so some lines might need to be redone a few times, or new ones would be added.

Eliana is the lead character of the animated short. She's very reclusive and has a calming voice, similar to Jennifer Lawrence.

She's been trapped in her satellite pod for two years, lost in deepspace with no communication or connection with earth. She spoke to the stars to ease the solitude.

    lost. I don’t know how much time has passed, but nobody will find me. I haven’t
    spoken to another soul, so I spoke to the stars. Thing is, I didn’t expect one of them to
    speak back to me.

  • I count my numbered days by the stars. Into my eyes melt the celestial light. I long for company besides these million suns. But the silence is all I have in my satellite

Orion is the only other major character in the animated film. He is an actual *star* (Humans can only see their "human" form in the afterlife, which is why they look like lights in the sky to us right now.) He's very curious about Eliana's world and wants to protect her, although he holds a dark secret. Think of Beauty and the Beast, but it's sci-fi and the beast is a star.
