~ (HEEEEEY THERE, SOOOO. Um. It's me, Emmyvoice. And I have a perfect explanation for the different account/username on here. To put it simply, I lost access and completely forgot how to log in to the previous one. Which is completely on me, heheheheh... ๐
*ahem!* Now with that out of the way, let's talk about the project) ~
You're probably familiar with the opening cutscene of Sonic Unleashed. Chances are, you know it. Chances are, people are still talking about that scene 14 years later. For all I've seen and remember, you guys probably adore how it's well animated and crafted for 2008 CGI and still do to this day. Which, yeah, I totally get it, it's very peak and top tier animation.
We may have seen our share of watching YouTube videos with a few cutscenes from the game dubbed over it, whether it be Ryan Drummond or Roger Craig Smith. But it's mostly done through AI TTS programs or voice clips thrown in there. But frankly, I wanna change that redubbing concept. Using the 100%, natural, human-like voice acting capabilities of, well... voice actors! Yes, that's where you guys come in. What this is in a nutshellโ is me searching for the greatest of Ryan Drummond and Roger Craig Smith impressionists. Emulating their performance, tone, vocal inflection, and range of emotions is a BIG MUST.
There's even more once you go over the rules/requirements, such as:
- You need a good, great or at least decent microphone. (Recording on a decent sounding cell phone/smartphone mic is optional as well, not all static-y and kinda muffled please.) Little to no unnecessary background noise or static.
- You must be able to record your voice with the proper tone, emotion, tempo and inflection for the character (and by tempo, I mean like following what Sonic says and noises he makes in the video displaying the cutscene here, matching the best of the original. In sync. That is key.)
- When recording for your Sonic, your performance has to be believable and authentic. Acting prowess is a HUGE MUST. I have to hear if both Sonic interpretations are confident and cocky, surprised and panicked, in absolute pain/agony and anger... you get the gist.
- The voice should be relatively close/same charisma/tone to the listed Sonics as possible. ๐
- Once you send in the audition, comment me your means of social media for communication, be it Twitter, YouTube, Tumblr or Discord (I'd strongly recommend Discord, but even if you don't have one, I suppose Twitter would suffice. That way we can discuss the project and do a bit of voice direction/send in MP3s/WAVs)
- Preferably, I'd definitely need y'all to record each line with three takes.
- As for the Werehog form's voice concerning the Ryan and Roger versions, feel free to experiment with what might fit the bill. If you really want to, you may look upon stuff for further research, shows, movies, audio projects or whatever you prefer.
- There is no need to digitally altering your voice or layering some effects/filters on your audition. Because I'll take care of that department. That, and you should be able to have the capacity to naturally deepen your voice, in Werehog-y fashion.
What else ummm okay....
No I think that's about it! Now show me what you blue blurs can do!!
