We are casting for our main characters and love interests for our new game THE PRINCE IS A 10, BUT… currently in production for the Winter 2025 VN Game Jam! 💖
A dark fantasy comedy survival VN Set in a classic Fairytale Winter! Play as a stoic Princess, trapped in a tower guarded by a monster.
Multiple Princes show up to rescue you – except there’s just one problem: every Prince has a major character flaw, hindering your chance at making it out of the tower alive.
Choose from 5 Princes, try to escape the tower, and survive: with or without him! 💖
*Please note that these are not the final sprites for the game and just sketches for reference, the designs will likely remain similar yet may be be subject to change in the final game! The sprite closest to the final appearance in the game is the princess!
Audition Guidelines:
1. The game will be fully voiced - recording will start immediately after you are cast and end around December 19th, 2025.
2. The game will not contain any NSFW content but will have some mature themes and romance routes.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out and ask us for any clarifications you may need before proceeding with your audition, we want to make sure every actor has a comfortable and safe experience!

Though there are basic guides and directions provided on certain lines, if you want to take creative liberties with your audition that’s totally okay, feel free to get creative!
6. Please keep in mind that this is an unpaid volunteer role as this game is being made for the Winter VN Game Jam, we will not be selling the game, and are just making it for the fun of making a game!

A stoic sarcastic Princess who’s quite done with life – locked up in a tower guarded by a monster, she has been hustling to send out rescue signals for years now from her tower. She is tired and a bit sleep deprived, but resourceful. The Princess doesn’t really believe a Prince is necessary for her to escape the tower, however she figures her odds are better at leaving this place alive, if she does not face the monster alone.

“I’m sorry… What? You want the monster to do WHAT to you? And— Why are you so surprised by my reaction? Of course, this is a lot to take in! And… a little disgusting, quite frankly.” (Shocked/stunned/mildly disgusted upon hearing a revelation)
“You didn’t think I was a nice little Princess, did you? That I’d simply just sit here waiting for you to rescue me, without a plan in mind? Or are you just that dense, fool?” (Serious and ruthless, as if she is betraying someone in cold blood)
“"No... No, wait! I didn't mean to—no—you were supposed to live! I'll take it back, so please. Don't go..." (Horrified at something terrible that she has accidentally done.) Add SFX: Horrified gasp / Laugh / Evil laugh
An ancient voice who narrates our protagonist’s adventures – sometimes, the characters may break the fourth wall and answer back to him.

“There once was a beautiful Princess trapped inside the tallest tower of the land, tucked away deeply amid a dangerous forest. Every morning, she awoke with a dire need for coffee and a willing sacrifice—er, I mean, a handsome Prince. Yes! That’s what she wants!” (Narrating, but slightly awkward at the end.)
“Heed this warning, Princess! At this rate, you'll invite upon yourself what we in the business call a ‘bad end’—are you truly willing to turn this Prince away? ...Well, if you insist. Your choices are your own, at the end of the day.” (Trying to convince the protagonist against causing a game over.)
“Princess, do you not think it is nearly time you change your destiny? For the good of yourself and the people around you. Do you not tire of this place? Of being here? Of repeating this cycle, over, and over again?” (Serious, slightly hopeful.)
A surfer and gamer who would spend his days rapping on sunny beaches catching the biggest waves he could find, until one of those waves almost drowned him, washing him up on shore where he unfortunately lost his life to a white truck that lost control on the beach.The Reincarnated Prince is confused about his whereabouts, thinking himself to be in a dream at first, until he realizes…this is his life now, and he’s apparently meant to rescue a Princess.
Appears to be a regular Prince at first. He uses a lot of slang, talks like a regular guy, and for all intents and purposes, is just a regular guy.

“Whoa, Princess, bro—I don’t think I can slay a monster! I’m just a regular guy. Up until yesterday, I was just riding the waves! Besides…back in my world, I couldn’t even look a bug in the eye, it was always my sister who killed spiders for me. A giant lizard’s way above my paygrade!” (Cowardly and scared but trying not to show it, as he tries to make excuses for why he won’t even try to save the Princess from the monster.)
“Princess, dude… D’you think, maybe, there’s a chance between you and me? I know I’m not really a Prince, a-and I’m actually kind of useless haha but like…don’t you think we share something special? We’ve been through so much together in the past twenty-five minutes, it’s like destiny bought us together, man. I mean, I haven’t seen anything as beautiful as you, since that giant wave that almost killed me.” (Monologuing and trying to be romantic because he’s starting to crush on the Princess.)
“Brah! What the hell! This is worse than the truck— (screaming, while getting eaten by the monster) SFX: Gasp / Laugh / Surprised Yelp / Hum
A beautiful, fabulous Prince – so fabulous, in fact, that he shines wherever he goes! It is impossible to be discreet around this Prince, any hopes for sneaking around or stealth are lost when teaming up with him, but he is able to ward off the darkness and sometimes, that is good enough.
He isn’t sure why he is so beautiful, he was just born this way, baby.
Eccentric and posh, though not to the point of it being offputting. He is not a mal-intentioned Prince, however things may get…complicated if he is forced to engage in activities that threaten his beauty: the mud is his mortal enemy. Literally. He will perish if it touches him!
*Ideally has a French accent, but open to other accents.

“Don’t you see it, Princess? I’ve been blessed with a beauty so grand it warps the world around me! I know, I know, I can be A LOT to take in, but don’t worry! I’m a gentleman! I’ll forever hold your hand and guide you whenever you get blinded by my good looks!” (Full of himself and haughty, speaking as if it is fact.)
“Absolutely NOT, Princess! Anything but that! The mud is a threat to my beauty, and a threat to my beauty is a threat to my life!!! You must understand, it isn’t easy, being beautiful like myself comes with great perils! Please… go on without me, I don’t think I’ll make it, if we take this route. (Overdramatic, but also, he is serious about this.)
“Oh, dear, but I’m so young! Too gorgeous! And no one’s even painted me yet! I will be a treasure lost to history now! TRAGEDY!!! (Screaming, while being fed to the monster.) MY BEAUTY!!! MY LIGHT AND MY GLORY!!!!” SFX: Gasp / Laugh / Surprised Yelp / Hum
The Freaky Prince is a man of fantasy and ambition. An accomplished magical scholar. His favorite past time is collecting spicy books and art related to his hobby, but they have not influenced his tastes, he’s simply been fascinated by monsters ever since he learned of their existence.
He has thought of this day for years, and he is absolutely smitten like a maiden in love by the idea of being in the tower, and of the monster guarding the Princess that could potentially devour him.However, being a route in which the Princess cannot feed this Prince to the monster, The Freaky Prince is doomed to never realize his ambitions. Still, he will try his best to make his dreams come true during his escape with the Princess: if he trips and claims he ‘Cannot get up! Go on without me, Princess!’ don’t believe a word of his nonsense.

“Princess! How excited I am to be here — I’ve come to be devoured by the monster with you! …What do you mean, you don’t understand? Have you SEEN her? The way she moves her tail, and eats her prey—oh, my, Gods! I cannot help but be a loyal follower now.”
“Where did my interest start? Hm, I’m not quite sure, it’s been so many years I’ve lost count. What I can tell you, is that it happened when I stumbled across a magical scroll that was not quite a magical scroll than it was a forbidden history book documenting monsters lost to time – I’ve been fascinated ever since! Monsters are such wonderful creatures! And those teeth… I wonder, what it would feel like, truly... yes.”
4: “WHY won’t she eat me when she’ll happily devour anyone else?! What have I done to deserve this curse! Oh, how sad this day finds me, I will never live to forget this.” (The Prince finds out the monster doesn't want to eat him and is devastated.) SFX: Gasp / Laugh / Surprised Yelp / Hum
Goth and sad, and ever so lonely, the Vampire Prince is starving for a good meal. He approaches the Princess with the intention of devouring her after he’s rescued her, and does his best to mask this fact throughout his entire route.
During his route, the Princess should feel as though something is off about him, but the Vampire Prince is so incredibly charismatic compared to the other Princes and seems to be the best and most reliable choice even though he is technically the worst!!!
He’s a ten because he’s everything you could ever dream of, but he will eat you.

"I know what it's like, to be treated as a monster. You deserve so much better than that." "I'll admit I have a... bloodthirsty side. But who doesn't? I can see it in your eyes — you've got it, too."
"You're like the sun, Princess. And who wouldn't want a taste of sunshine after so long in the dark?" SFX: Gasp / Laugh / Surprised Yelp / Hum
Wholesome and kindhearted, The Timid Prince sincerely cares for the Princess, but has trouble expressing it due to his incredibly timid nature and social anxiety. Being unable to properly communicate his feelings often has him misunderstood, and it is also what led him to the Princess’s tower.
The Timid Prince did not want to slay the monster, but when he was volunteered for the job, he was unable to express his refusal as he could not deal with the confrontation this would have required.
At first, the Timid Prince was not initially aware that a Princess lived in the tower, and only knew about the Monster’s existence. However, now that he is here and has made the Princess’s acquaintance, he is determined to help her escape! The only issue is… he can barely look her in the eye, or say more than a single word at a time to her.

“No, I… I didn’t want to be here. Truth be told, Princess, I was simply unable to refuse. But I am glad I’ve come, in the end… if it means I get to save you. But…forgive me… I don’t think I have the courage yet…to look you in the eye…”
“Please, don’t get any closer… It’s not you, it’s me, Princess. Me and my terrible, terrible social anxiety.”
“Hello…? …Is anyone in there? (Sighs in relief as he enters a room he believes to be empty) Oh, thank the Gods, I didn’t think I could take running into another person— (Yelps in surprise) W-Who— Who is that! What are you! Are you, y-you? I mean, why are you— H-How are you— (stammers) How are you here?” SFX: Gasp / Laugh / Surprised Yelp / Hum
The monster that has been guarding The Princess and tower for years. No one is sure why, but she has taken a liking to this place.

“I question thy taste in men, Princess. But should the world endeth, I shall be there with thee.”
“For eons, I have roamed the lands in search of someone who felt like a home, and that home is now thee, Princess. For thou hast unburdened me of my hungers. Thou hast fed me the flesh of a Prince once sacred. Thou hast been a hospitable host, a kind Princess to a monster such as me, the prophecy spoke true. Prithee, how may I repay thee?”
“I shall destroy thee and make thee return to thy putrid earth! Thou deservervest not to walk on these sacred grounds with thy foul boots.” (Angry, raging) SFX: Gasp / Creepy Laugh /Evil Laugh / Monstrous Scream
