Luz is kind-hearted, outgoing, eccentric, geeky girl. She is eager to find her place in the world and be accepted for who she feels she truly is. She is seen as an outcast on Earth due to making herself seem strange and difficult to engage with by her peers, school staff and her own mother, leading to her having no friends besides imaginary ones or reptilians.

Gus Gus is a young and precocious witch. He is known for being very enthusiastic and excitable; when Luz gives him his nickname, he flips out in sheer joy. Due to being an illusionist, he tends to have a dramatic flair when making statements and presenting things.
The thing is, you're sitting in my personal chit-chat zone, which means you gotta talk.

Willow is described as a bubbly and friendly witch. At first, she was shown to be shy with Amity, as she calls her "Half-a-Witch Willow", and often made fun of Willow's poor capability of creating and manipulating abominations. Despite being childhood friends with Amity, Willow grew to resent her due to her selfishness and cruelty towards her, seemingly after gaining her magical powers before Willow. To get her anger out, Willow uses plants that grow huge and grabs any physical object in her way. If she does harm somebody, she is fast to apologize to them.
She likes tending to plants and gets frustrated if she gets bad grades and when other students used to make fun of her, calling her "Half-A-Witch Willow".

Confident and sassy, Eda is best described as rebellious, with Luz calling her "surprisingly foxy for her age". Her vast skills and aptitude in witchcraft give her a brash streak, as she proudly declares her power and is openly defiant of authorities, going as far as knocking a guard unconscious and flying off to avoid getting caught.

Edalyn isn't the only Clawthorne with a talent for potions. Ooh. I bet she would love a peek inside the castle.
Amity is described as bright and competitive. She attends magic school along with Willow, Gus, and (later) Luz, and is a part of the Abomination track. As the "Top Student" at Hexside, Amity is proud of her status as the best student in the entire school and goes as far as to use it as a bragging right. She looks down on other students who are not as successful as she is and teases them, as expressed greatly in her treatment of Willow in "I Was a Teenage Abomination". She does not take kindly to those who steal her spotlight and is somewhat the teacher's pet, seeing as how Principal Bump regards highly of her.
