Project Overview

What is this?

This is a fandub of The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel by Falcom. This fandub will involve the story scenes, but not as much of the side quests and optional content. This will include the main dialogue and lines said during battle. This will be a long-term project, so please keep that in mind when getting your auditions together. 

For new people to the Trails series, Trails of Cold Steel follows Rean Schwarzer as he enrolls in Thors Military Academy, an academy made to educate and prepare the youth for combat, and to overall improve on themselves. Most people who go there don't tend to go to the military after graduation, but they come out of it with a newfound confidence. Rean is brought into a new class created for Thors, where the nobles and commoners will be intermixed and sent on field studies to help the populace for an unknown reason, although it is clear that there is a more pure reason behind it. They get caught up in a terrorist plot eventually, and have to work together to stop them and save the Erebonian Empire from a major threat that can shake the foundations of the Empire.

Requirements

While this is a non-paid project, I still would appreciate it if you bring your A-game with this. Please make sure your background noise, reverb, and peaking is minimal. In addition, a lot of these characters will have more exaggerated emotions brought out. This is a JRPG, and so the characters in canon have more exaggerated and "out there" emotions in terms of delivery. I do not expect everyone to have the same degree of emotion and delivery as the voice actors for the canon, but even so, I expect at least some degree of care into your audition. 

About the Cast

The characters in this game can have moments where they can be very indecent with their wording, and mocking of others, as you might see with a group of middle/high schoolers. The males can be a bit out there when it comes to attractive women as young boys can be, some way more than others, and some less than others. There will be some language in this, though not from many of the characters.

Final notes and words of advice

1. You may be wondering where Rean Schwarzer is on this casting call. He is not on here because well, I'm going to be voicing him! This is due to his sheer level of lines, and the fact that many of his lines can feel uncomfortable to many when delivering them. I am confident in my impression of him, and I am perfectly fine with the lines he delivers, so I decided it would be best if I voiced him. I hope this does not deter anyone or make you feel any less of this project.

2. Don't feel nervous! I know how nervous this might make you feel if you may be voicing for so many lines as a character, but that's natural! Any time I see a role that has a lot of lines in the end with them, I have an instinct to clam up about it, we're only human after all! If it's truly nerve-wrecking for you, you can audition for the extras roles! There are some that have a decent amount of lines, and some that don't. For the latter cases, you may get a couple extra roles! You'll get your chance some way or another!

3. Please do not slate your auditions. This is a practice that I do not personally like on CCC. If you do, I'm not going to throw a fit, but I prefer to listen to the audition itself than hear extra dialogue that hinders my ability to see the quality of the audition, even if for a few seconds. In addition, if you submit in a wav file, it'd be good to try to have as much time for the audition as possible, as the size of the file increases at a higher rate than a lot of other audio file formats! 

4. I will need a couple transcribers to translate the text from the game to a document (most likely Google Docs). If you are interested, please message me on this. 

5. If you have any questions regarding the cast, and the level of indecent comments they can say, feel free to message me! I'll make sure to respond within the day.

  • First Casting Deadline

    Thank you everyone for auditioning for this fandub! There was a lot of auditions to look over, and they were all fantastic! I have casted everyone besides Claire Rieveldt, Towa Herrschel, Sharon Kreuger, Angelica Rogner, and Olivert Reise Arnor, to which the roles as well as the extras role will be brought onto a new Casting Call. Elliot Craig is a member of Class VII, and a major character in the Cold Steel arc. He always had appreciation for the fine arts, and was not a fighter in the slightest. However, his father wanted his son to be like him, a member of the military, so any further pursuit of musical education was halted and instead brought to Thors Military Academy. Elliot is a kind soul, one who strives for peace above all else. He tends to avoid confrontation or try to get people to stop arguing, and is known for his openness, as well as his courage during tough situations. 

Elliot has a higher pitch voice, and has a more normal tone to him. Most of his non-battle lines will involve emotions of surprise, anxiousness, happiness, and seriousness.

Gaius Worzel is a member of Class VII, and a major character in the Cold Steel arc. Gaius grew up in the Nord Highlands, an open field with nomadic ways of living. His people are known for the divine worship of the winds, which guide them towards the right path. He managed to go to Thors Military Academy thanks to a recommendation letter from the general at the nearby fort, Zechs Vander. He chose to go there because of the way the world is changing. His people don't know that much about how the society of Erebonia functions, and so he chose to go there so he could learn about it, and come back not just with the knowledge to protect his people, but to have newfound combat strengths. Gaius is an upstanding person with honor and dignity. He is kind to those he meets, and even those who anger him don't make him as angry as other people would. 

Gaius has a lower pitch voice, with a bit of gruff to it, though not a whole lot. He has a more gentle tone to him, even when angered. His non-battle quotes mostly consist of emotions involving confidence, surprise, and content.

  • I don't believe I've introduced myself yet. My name is Gaius Worzel. I just arrived in the empire, so any help you can offer would be much appreciated. (Introducing, confidence, understanding)

Machias Regnitz is a member of Class VII, and a major character in the Cold Steel arc. Machias is the son of Carl Regnitz, the governor of Heimdallr. He grew up with his family and sister, until a fateful day that scarred Machias, and left him with a deep hatred for the nobility. He chose to go to Thors Military Academy, being placed into Class VII, a place that will have both commoners and nobles in the class, much to his surprise. Machias is a hard worker and a prodigy student, holding himself to strict standards, as he is an overachiever. He is brash towards others, especially when they poke fun at him. Easily angered, he can start verbal confrontations with others, especially when it comes to political and social issues. 

Machias has a medium-low voice, and can change emotions rather quickly. He has a more reserved/defensive tone, and most of his non-battle lines consist of emotions involving anger, surprise, egotism, and shock. *Note: If you voice crack during parts where you hit high points of your pacing, it is in character for him, just don't voice crack every other high point, this is just so that you aren't worried if you have that one voice crack at a high point*

Jusis Albarea is a member of Class VII, and a major character in the Cold Steel Arc. Jusis is the bastard son of a noble in the Four Great Houses, Duke Albarea. He had a suffocating family life, although he got along well with his brother, Rufus. He enrolled in Thors Military Academy to escape the suffocating life he had. Jusis comes off as an arrogant noble, to which some commoners genuinely believe that he thinks he's above everyone else as the son of Duke Albarea. However, he is honorable, and believes in the true sense of nobility, instead of the stereotypical noble that believes he is above everyone else. 

Jusis has a medium pitch, displaying a normal, though almost as if he's bored tone. He doesn't raise his voice much, and his non-battle lines mostly involve emotions of brashness, discontent, and shock, and can sometimes be egging somebody on in his lines.

Alisa Reinford is a a member of Class VII and a major character in the Cold Steel arc. Cheerful, but snappy, Alisa is the daughter of the CEO of the Reinford group, a large organization that specializes in orbal technology and the development of it. She chose to join Thors Military Academy to find out what she wants to do with her life, even if she is worried for her mother, as she is an extreme case of a workaholic. She can get surprised or flustered easily, and as a result tends to respond to it with snarky remarks or snappish insults. She is brash and impulsive, yet cares deeply for her classmates.

Alisa has a higher pitch voice, and tends to be on the defensive side in a lot of her lines in terms of tone. Her non-battle lines consist mostly of emotions with anger, disgust, discontent, happiness, reminiscence, and surprise.

Laura is a member of Class VII, and a major character in the Cold Steel arc. Laura is the daughter of Viscount Victor Arseid, a master swordsman, and strives to be as strong as him. She enrolled at Thors Military Academy to improve her swordsmanship. Laura is a headstrong girl with her swordsmanship at the heart of what she does each day. She is an honorable girl who has lived a more normal life than most. However, she does not let that stop her from learning more about others, and is open towards viewpoints that challenges the simple views she grew up with. 

Laura has a deeper voice that exudes authority and confidence. She should feel like someone who could easily be a leader towards others, and most of her non-battle lines involve emotions with surprise, content, and seriousness.

Fie Claussell

Fie Claussell is a member of Class VII, and a major character in the Cold Steel arc. Fie Claussell grew up not knowing her parents, and ended up wandering by herself, usually battlefields. She was picked up by a Jaeger group, and grew up there with the Jaeger King, the leader of the Jaeger group, and the other members. One day, the Jaeger King died in a battle against the leader of a rival Jaeger group, and the group disbanded. Fie wandered by herself for a while, not knowing what to do, when Instructor Sara found her and took her in, giving her the chance to be at Thors Military Academy. Fie starts out as a very reserved girl, not saying more than what needs to be said. However, over the course of the game, she opens up more, having a more playful sense, and it usually ends up as her poking fun at the others, and says too much information at times, possibly knowing full well the effect it could have.

Fie has a higher pitched voice, having a bored tone with her voice in most cases, and a more condenscending/mocking tone the rest of the time. She isn't a very loud character, and her non-battle lines consist of emotions involving content, surprise, and natural.

Emma Millstein is a member of Class VII, and a major character in the Cold Steel arc. Emma lives in a place far away from Thors Military Academy, and other than that her past is a mystery. She takes care of a cat which she named Celine, and has knowledge of the supernatural through a heightened sixth sense. Emma is a normal girl who, like Machias, is a prodigy student. She was the highest scorer on the entrance exam, and also tutors Fie with schoolwork. She is understanding and kind to all.

Sara Valestein is the instructor for Class VII, and is a major character in the Cold Steel arc. Sara's past is a mystery, though one thing is for certain, she is very carefree today. She became an A-rank bracer before becoming an instructor at Thors Military Academy, known as the Purple Lightning. She eventually came to be an instructor, and has an interesting way to instruct the students. She is very lax when it comes to deadlines, and tends to go out on the town to get drunk...a lot. She makes quips a lot on the fact that she's single, and can be slightly seductive at times with her lines.

Sara has a medium-low voice, and mature at that. Her tone is a carefree one, at times having some serious moments. Her non-battle quotes involve emotions with happiness, persuading, and seriousness.

Millium Orion is a member of Class VII in the later chapters, and is a major character in the Cold Steel arc. Millium is a member of the Imperial Army's intelligence division, which eventually sent her to Thors Military Academy. She has a companion named Airgetlam (Aihr-ah-geht-luhm) which assists her in battle. Millium is childlike, having the excitement and energy of a grade schooler. She is very energetic in every case, whether its for excitement or when she's scared. She can make remarks about the body shapes of females, so please keep that in mind. She also has practically no sense of personal space, and ends up frightening the male students a lot.

Millium has a childlike voice, and tends to be louder with her volume. She has a more melancholic yet energetic tone, and her non-battle quotes involve emotions with excitedness, nervousness, and sadness.

  • I'm Millium, Millium Orion! And this is Airgetlam, but we'll just call him Lammy for short. Ready? Let's get started~! (Introducing, excited, ready for battle)

Crow Armbrust is a member of Class VII in the later chapters, and is a major character in the Cold Steel games. Crow grew up in Jurai, and lived a more normalized life. He enrolled at Thors Military Academy, becoming a trial user of the new ARCUS units that Class VII uses in combat. Through this, he meets George, Angelica, and Towa, and makes good friends with them. Crow is always in a playful mood, always trying to liven up the party. However, he is a pervert to say the very least, usually enticing people into doing indecent things/activities. He's a gambler through and through, and usually doesn't have much Mira on him. 

Crow has a medium pitch, with a bit of assertion in his tone. He likes to joke around a lot, and shows it off a lot in his lines. Most of his non-battle lines involve emotions and feelings of cockiness, egotism, and a sense of defeat.

Towa Herrschel

Towa is the Student Council President of Thors Military Academy, and is a major character in the Cold Steel arc. Her parents having died due to an aircraft accident, she was raised by her grandfather and aunt. She enrolled in Thors Military Academy and became a trial user of the new ARCUS units that Class VII uses throughout the course of the game. Towa, while not having any battle quotes, has a lot of screen time in Trails of Cold Steel. She is a very kind and understanding girl, although can work herself to the bone very often. She takes her role as student council president very seriously, which often leads to too much work on her. She is liked by all at Thors, and she cares deeply for all her friends. 

Towa has a high pitch, child-like voice, and has a cheerful, yet authoritative tone to her. Her emotions will usually consist of joy, embarrassment, and seriousness.

  • There's no junior or senior in my book! The name's Towa Herrschel. I'm the student council president. (Introducing, joyful)

  • Sure they asked me to go, but at the end of the day I'm just a student. What can someone like me do at a major international conference like this? (Slightly Disappointed, saddened)

Angelica Rogner is a second year at Thors, and is a supporting character in the Cold Steel arc. Angelica is the daughter of a noble in the Four Great Houses, Marquis Rogner. She dresses in a more androgynous way, much to the disappointment of her father. Before enrolling at Thors Military Academy, Angelica disguised herself as a man and worked at an Iron Mine nearby, and was said to have worked harder than everyone else. She became a trial user for the new ARCUS units Class VII use throughout the course of the game. Angelica is a flirtatious character, though only with the female cast. She never misses a chance to compliment an attractive woman, often surprising them with her straightforwardness. 

Angelica has a medium, more mature sounding voice. Her tone has a slight hint of seductiveness. Her non-battle quotes involve emotions with flirtatious, calmness, and seriousness. 

  • I'm Angelica. Angelica Rogner. Glad I could finally meet your acquaintance. (Introducing, friendly)

Elise Schwarzer is the sister of Rean, and is a supporting character in the Cold Steel arc. The daughter of Baron Schwarzer, she was an only child until her parents adopted Rean into the family. She grew up with a fondness for him, which only grew more and more with each passing year. She enrolled at a girl's academy in Heimdallr, whereas her brother enrolled at Thors. However, they do send letters between each other on a routine. Elise is a softspoken, yet kind person, with a deep care for Rean and his wellbeing. She is assertive when he isn't taking care of himself or when he is acting rash, but doesn't take it well when he talks back. 

Elise has a higher, softspoken voice. She should sound more gentle, as she is not a very loud individual. Her emotions usually will have her being upset, flustered, reminiscent, and formal.

Claire Rieveldt is the captain of the Railway Military Police, and a supporting character in the Cold Steel arc. She is an ironblood, a group that is loyal to the Iron Blood Chancellor, Gilliath Osborne. Claire is a very formal person, though can act casual when the situation calls for it, even talking to a couple of the members of Class VII in casual attire. She is assertive, and gets straight to the point when necessary. 

Claire has a medium, mature sounding voice. She has a formal tone, though with a slight hint of energy, albeit not much. Her emotions will typically consist of surprise, being formal, and assertive.

Sharon Kreuger is a maid serving the Reinford family, and is a supporting character in the Cold Steel arc. Sharon has a love for the Reinford family, and will do anything to protect them from harm. She handles many different tasks, such as cleaning, making food, and taking care of the Reinford family and their companions. She is very formal, and keeps an air of confidence and professionalism at all times. She can be slightly mischievous at times, as shown when she exaggerates the reason why Rean leaves to meet someone else for a debriefing.

Sharon has a medium, mature sounding voice. She should sound confident and sure of her wording in her lines. Most of her lines have emotions of joy and a sense of formality.

Patrick Hyarms is a first year in Class 1, and is a supporting character in the Cold Steel arc. Patrick is the son of a noble in the Four Great Houses. However, he tends to avoid Jusis, and if it's not possible, does his best to avoid conflict. He has a big mouth, which usually is not well backed up by his actions. 

Patrick has a medium-low voice, and has a brash and belittling tone. He is one that does not take well to others giving him advice, and has emotions typically with anger, disappointment, cockiness, and nervousness.

Olivert Arnor is the prince of Erebonia, the next in line to be the emperor, and is a supporting character in the Cold Steel arc. He grew up with his siblings, Alfin and Cedric, with fondness for the both of them. Olivert is a mischievous individual, often having indecent thoughts in his mind, along with flirting with women, which this behavior has earned him the title by some as the Debaucherous Prince. However, he is a smart person, having many different plans and executing them near perfectly when it fits his goals. 

Olivert has a medium-low voice, and should sound joyed in most situations, to which the others are where he sounds defeated in a sense. His emotions will typically consist of joy, sad, and seriousness.

This role is a catch-all category for other characters that do not have as much screen time or lines as the others, but are still important! These characters could be students of Thors Military Academy, antagonists, and residents of the cities or villages that Class VII visit during their field studies. You can go wild with what you want to put here, though a good range of pitches, tones, and emotions would be nice! If you have a demo reel feel free to put it in here, and if you want to add more to it, you can feel free to do more with it! Some of these characters have battle quotes, so please keep that in mind. If you know the series and/or have a specific character in mind, you can put an impression for them in here too! As there are a lot of extras here, a lot of people who do not get a more major role may get cast as one. In addition, depending on the chapter, some people who are one of the more major characters (such as Millium or Olivert), may get one, if they do not have many lines that chapter.
