"THE INTERROGATION: A SLENDER MAN STORY" [ Short Film / Horror / Machinima ]
Project Overview
● INTRODUCTION
Hello there! I've been a content creator on YouTube since 2007 and have been working on machinimas for about eight years now. I studied cinema back in college and have amounted a fair share of projects over the years. This isn't the first time I'm using this website, and I actually managed to finish a full-length machinima named Five Nights at Freddy's: The Fan Film back in 2016.
● WHO IS THE SLENDER MAN?
The Slender Man is a supernatural creature with nebulously defined characteristics and abilities. Slender Man was first discussed in an online forum known as “Something Awful” in 2009 and has been commonly depicted as a tall humanoid being in a black suit, with a red tie and a white shirt. His face is totally white, completely devoid of any facial features.
Slender Man blew up in popularity in the early-2010s, mostly due to web-series and video-games. Stories of the Slender Man commonly feature him stalking, abducting or traumatizing people, particularly children.
Even though the Slender Man is considered a modern urban legend forged in internet culture, there are countless traditional stories, folklore and legends throughout the world that portray a similar character; namely in its attributes and frightening appearance.
● WHAT IS A MACHINIMA?
Machinima takes its name from the combination of the words machine and cinema. These kinds of films use virtual environments and actors to tell stories. Machinima can be as simple as an in-game recorded video of a player racing through a level or as complex as a feature film with plot twists and extensive character development.
These players leave nearly all of the most difficult parts of computer animation to game developers and work in virtual worlds that artists and programmers have designed and created. Most machinima rely exclusively on the respective video game's library of animations. Some machinima artists will tweak existing animations or even create new ones using separate software.
● THE PROJECT
The Interrogation: A Slender Man Story is a short-film set in Tennessee, where a man known as Thomas Nealy finds himself being interrogated by the police officer Easton Knight due to his daughter's mysterious disappearance. The events of this project are inspired by a disturbing interview that was featured on NBC and BBC’s RADIO 4 back in 2009-2010.
The work is purely fictional, and will be made through the use of a Life Simulator video-game known as The Sims 2. Thanks to a heavily modified version of the game, I possess the tools and means to tell this story. As a matter of fact, this is my second attempt at this project. This previous attempt was made back in 2013 and has almost 14,000 views. I'm confident enough that I will be able to improve on the original idea much more.
With this proposition, I am hoping to find users who are willing to volunteer and participate in this idea. The voice actors will be given the script to study and then deliver their results through an internet-based computer file transfer service (such as sendspace.com, wetransfer.com, dropbox.com, gofile.io and so on).
● CHARACTERS & VOICE ACTING
The project will feature four characters (2 protagonists, 1 secondary character and 1 antagonist). Only three will be given dialogue. The characters are kept one-dimensional with what they’re given, but their reactions to the events taking place are rather essential to tell a story.
The characters in question are:
- Thomas Nealy, a 37-year-old widower who hit rock-bottom after his daughter mysteriously disappeared. He is a frantic and grieving father who only wants to find his little girl.
- Easton Knight, a disgruntled 39-year-old police officer who finds himself being dragged to an unwanted situation on his day off.
- Mackenzie Goodman, a 26-year-old police officer with a laid-back attitude who doesn’t care all that much about her job.
People interested in lending their voices to these characters must meet certain requirements in order to be accepted. Such requirements are:
- must be from an English-speaking country or possess the correct dialect to pass as such;
- must be willing to respect the source material and attempt to match the characters’ disposition;
- must be willing to re-participate in the project due to the possibility of reshoots;
- must deliver their lines on time, or provide a reason for a delay;
- must be able to record their lines without too much interference (such as background noise and/or others);
- must be willing to provide several takes of the same dialogue (2 to 4 takes per line);
- must be willing to send their files in a familiar coding format for digital audio (mp3, wav, wma, flac);
- must be willing to use the file-transfer websites previously mentioned and have means of contact outside of castingcall.club;
● FINAL DETAILS
Any support to the project is most welcome. It is, by any means, a non-profitable piece of work. If anyone would like to lend their voices, provide feedback or even offer themselves to proofread or brainstorm... I'd be more than happy to let them hop onboard! Anyone can also download the project's dossier by using the following link.

Latest Updates
-
Hey everyone. This is just to update you that casting has been officially closed. I was able to find one major voice for each character and its backups, with a third option as a precaution. I'll be sending everyone their dossiers and scripts this week so they can have a better look at what the project is about and work on their lines. Thanks you guys for being interested!

LAST "LOOKING FOR" UPDATE!
This will be the last update that I'll make where I'll mention that I am still looking. I'm hoping to have this finished before June, but I'll keep my fingers crossed! I would still like to have more auditions for EASTON KNIGHT! -
STILL LOOKING...
As the title says, I'm still looking for people... -
Still looking!
For some reason, the project has failed to meet any expectations when it comes to finding suitable voice actors. There are two characters left who are in dire need of their voice! I'll keep the project running as long as I can! -
FIXED A FEW THINGS
I've taken the liberty to fix a few things. The audition are still open, so feel free to submit your own entries or get in touch with me if you happen to have any questions!
DETAILS:
- This is the first protagonist of the project and is inspired by the character of the same name well-established in the documentary.
- The lines that are supposed to be recorded should match the tone and thematics behind the original voice-over. However, some liberties can be taken and are more than welcome.
- Thomas Nealy is a 37-year-old widower who hit rock-bottom after his daughter mysteriously disappeared.
- He is a frantic and grieving father who only wants to find his little girl.
- He feels threatened by the entity he saw in the woods, and believes it will follow him.
- His mind is in a poor state, which is why he winds up snapping at officer Easton.
- Most of his dialogue should reek of desperation, unease and fear.
REFERENCE:
The original lines and therefore the source of inspiration behind these characters can be heard in the following link: https://youtu.be/ysgQ9spsphk?t=210
Sample 1: "Okay, umm.. we live in a wooded area, and I knew she liked playing there with friends, but, going alone didn’t make sense."
Sample 2: "I was calling Jessica’s name, and it had really getting dark out now. I was walking through the woods, looking and listening to anything. She had to be there somewhere."Sample 3: "I remember suddenly feeling sick. Like, nauseous in the stomach, like I wanted to throw up. And I started getting ringing in my ears. Then I… saw something."
Sample 4: "It was that thing! That... that nightmare!"Sample 5: "The… the arms are almost to the ground, I… I’ve… err… I’ve never seen anything like it."
Sample 6: "Its... face. No, there was no face! There were no eyes! WHAT DID I SEE?!"
DETAILS:
- This is the second protagonist of the project and is inspired by the police officer well-established in the documentary.
- The lines that are supposed to be recorded should match the tone and thematics behind the original voice-over. However, some liberties can be taken and are more than welcome; especially since there have been new lines added to the character outside of its initial scope.
- Easton Knight is a disgruntled 39-year-old police officer who finds himself being dragged to an unwanted situation on his day off.
- He is somewhat annoyed, seeing that he had been working late for the past few weeks. This was his only proper night off and he happened to be called right in.
- He feels like the suspect is nothing but a waste of time, seeing his current mental state. However, he still follows protocols and attempts to be polite.
- He does want to know more about the events that resulted in the child's disappearance.
