SYNOPSIS:
Everyone has a shadow. These strange creatures carry the unspoken thoughts and darkest secrets of the mind, yet they are invisible to the naked eye. The story focuses on Daphnis, a Filipino college dropout who can see and hear such shadows. Prideful of his ability, Daphnis becomes an unlicensed private investigator, despite strong objections from his childhood friend and now roommate, Tom. Daphnis offers his services for a cheap price within Quesino City, a bustling Philippine metropolis. One day, a high-profile case drags the two down a rabbit hole never meant to be fallen into. What was seemingly an isolated murder case ends up unveiling long-buried secrets about the duo’s intertwined past, the powers that control their city, and what shadows truly are.

UNREHEARSED
Daphnis Manalasta is the main character in "The Interpretations of Shadows". New clients often underestimate Daphnis due to his height, poorly edited license, and confusing fashion sense. However, this self-proclaimed private investigator (P.I.) has a trick up his sleeve: the ability to see and hear shadows, discerning the truth from lies.
His shadow hands (nicknamed: Hans) emerged out of nowhere during college. It took months of getting used to the odd visions, to the point that Daphnis dropped out. But now, shadow-sensing is his sole source of pride; his crutch as a private investigator.
Daphnis vows to find out more about these shadows, as he theorizes that the truth might provide an answer to his fragmented past, and especially the death of one of his childhood friends.

(Alarmed) "...Who did it? WHO KILLED HER!?"
Thomas is the secondary main character in "The Interpretation of Shadows".
He's a burnt-out overachiever trying to relight his flame, Tom spends most of his time writing his undergraduate thesis. He’s one of Daph’s childhood friends, and now his roommate. As kids, the two found their friend’s body lifeless on the beach. The two were separated from each other after that incident and only reunited in college.
Tom rarely opens up about himself and his insecurities. Those brief moments of emotion are only ever seen by his roommate Daphnis. Still, for some odd reason, Daph's shadow-sensing powers do not work on Tom. Both are unsure why this limitation exists, but they consider it an unwitting advantage to their relationship (after all, some things are better left unsaid).(Somewhat annoyed) "No wonder you asked for film equipment, you're still doing this P.I. thing."
(Lecturing, irritated) "BUT do I see or hear them? No. Nobody does. So when you need hard evidence, what do you show? It will just be your word against theirs."
(Non-chalant) "Do you still use it on the job? Your... What do you call it again?"
Emilia Celones is a supporting character in "The Interpretations of Shadows". She's an actress whose career has passed its prime, now doing whatever it takes to get back into the spotlight– even if it means taking risks. One of Daphnis’ clients. It is connected to the murder of her niece, Denise Celones.
