The Interface Initiative
Project Overview
The Interface Initiative is an experimental ARG series with a focus on dialogue, minimalism and characters, alongside thrilling and tense games. Me and ThePortalNinja enjoy liminal spaces and Garry's Mod's aesthetic, so we decided to create an unique series with lots of improv!
The series begins with James O’Reilly and Avery Hasegawa streaming and showcasing some brand-new hardware that they're testing that lets you immerse yourself in Garry’s Mod even more by feeling damage and the weather in real life through electric impulses that are sent to the brain. The first demonstration stream goes well, other than a small issue that James promises to report to the lead developer before the second stream, but during the second stream, the mod malfunctions and James and Avery can’t remove the mod or their headsets.
Not only that, even though the mod is supposed to provide stimuli when you’re hurt, the pain that they’re feeling is completely real, meaning that someone or something removed the limiters in the software. The game locks them in a room where they know that they're being watched and with nothing to do, they begin to talk to each other and try to find a way out of the room and the game that they're trapped in, while playing dangerous games where they have to bet blood, organs and in some cases, their own lives in exchange for rewards.
Since all of the events in this series are live-streamed and we'll be using VR headsets, we need someone to help us stream the series in 1.5-2 hour streams, display pre-made visual effects and play some pre-made music, as well as someone to help us build the sets, place props and use commands when we can't.

Requirements:
-Must have a Discord Account (please include your name and ID with your audition)!
-Must be 13 years of age or older.
-Must have a decent mic or headset if you're applying to be a voice actor, so that your voice lines will be clear and audible.
-Must stay committed towards the project, since we'll be streaming weekly and we want to introduce recurring characters.
-Must be respectful of all people working on the project (directors, voice actors, etc.), regardless of their gender identity, disability, sexuality, race, etc.

We have a Prop Handler, but it would be nice to have a backup one in case our main Prop Handler is unavailable.
As the prop handler, you'll be in charge of placing, moving and removing props from the set during streams, as well as using ULX to move players around. Since most of these streams take place in just one building, you might not be needed for some of the stream, but there will be some streams where you'll be fairly active, such as during games or action-filled scenes. You won't be streaming anything, but please make sure that your PC is fairly modern, since our server will have 50-60 addons.
We'll rehearse a few scenes before the first stream, so you'll have lots of time to get used to being a part of The Interface Initiative.

Say something you think would fit
If you're interested in joining the series as someone else who's trapped in the game, one of the Hacker's lackeys or someone we have to fight in a game or a gamble, please feel free to apply as a voice actor! If you're signing up to be a major character, you'll need to be available for every stream and if you're a minor character, you'll need to be available for specific streams, especially if you're playing as a recurring character. Other than a few events, these streams are fully improvised, so all of the audition lines require improv.
Having a VR Headset isn't required to apply for this role, but it might restrict what roles you'll be picked for.

-You'll need to complete at least 2 of the 3 improv prompts in your audition in order to show us what kinds of characters you're good at playing.
-Please let us know if you want to play a major or a minor role in the series. If you sign up as a major character, you'll appear in every episode, as you'll most likely play as someone who's trapped in the room with us. If you sign up as a minor character, you'll appear in some of the episodes with varying roles, such as being one of the Hacker's lackeys, playing as someone else during a game, etc.

You just woke up alone in the bar of an empty nightclub in Garry's Mod after your VR headset was hijacked by someone and you can't remove your headset or quit the game.
You've just accepted to play a game that will test your accuracy, although you don't know the rules or what you'll have to do. Please improv a reward or what you'll lose if you fail this game while you're talking about why you accepted it.
You're an ex-criminal who has been taken into the Hacker's server as part of a game. You've been given a special chance from the Hacker to kill his captives as part of the game and you're talking to the Hacker about how thankful you are for this opportunity.
You can also improv something else for this prompt, but it has to make sense in the context of the series and if you need to give some context, please give it before you begin this prompt.
We have an OBS Streamer, but it would be nice to have a backup one in case our main OBS Streamer is unavailable.
Since we can't stream the series on our own computers, we need someone to stream the series through OBS and control the cameras. You won't need any directing experience for this role, but we need someone to move between several pre-made cameras by pressing some buttons and switching between James' point of view and the cameras.
Your Internet speed needs to be fast enough to stay on a Garry's Mod server, capture a 1080p stream and stream on Youtube at the same time. You'll also need a fairly modern PC, since we'll be running Garry's Mod with around 50 addons, so a good PC that was made in the past 5 years should be enough.
We'll rehearse a few scenes before the first stream, so you'll have lots of time to get used to being a part of The Interface Initiative.

The Hacker is a very important character who's responsible for trapping James and Avery in Garry's Mod after they found an exploit in their hardware's code, as well as making them play games where they could easily be scarred or killed since they have complete control over their lives. They're the main antagonist of the series and they eventually reveal themselves and begin interacting with James, Avery and the audience who's watching the streams, although they remain anonymous. The Hacker's personality is very open-ended, but please make sure that your character is someone who wouldn't have any qualms with toying with and killing James and Avery.
Having a VR Headset isn't required to apply for this role.

You're introducing yourself to James and Avery, who are your captives, for the first time and introducing yourself as the Hacker.
You're justifying or explaining why you're holding James and Avery captive, as well as what you plan on doing to them since you have complete control over them. You can also confirm with them that they're being watched by a live audience on Youtube.
You're congratulating one of your captives for clearing a game, although they're bleeding from several large cuts caused by some glass shards.
