Thomas (28) is a recruit for the UNSC army that enjoys moa hunting and camping out in the forest. After many years of living in Visegrad on the planet Reach, he has taken the initiative to join the Marines and has shown great tactical skills during basic training. He spends his time playing cards in the barracks with his friend Noah and fellow recruits. Thomas tries to be a good son for his mother named Angela, despite upsetting his father named Frank. The Human-Covenant War has caused a great deal of suffering to Thomas and his family, but he is determined to fight for something that matters. After taking a trip home to visit his father, Thomas will suddenly get a chance to put his training to the test as the treacherous events of the story unfold.

He spends his time maintaining his land, cooking hearty meals and taking peaceful outdoor walks. Behind these simple pleasures, he is a father that cares for his family (maybe more than he lets on). He has a wife named Angela and a son named Thomas. The Human-Covenant War has taken a toll on Frank and he refuses to watch or listen to anything going on about the war with the Covenant. He has tried his best to both support and protect his loved ones, however his struggles as a father will be pushed to their limits as the perilous events of the story unfold.

The Human-Covenant War has escalated immensely, forcing Angela to leave her family to go fight under the command of Captain Fields. Noah is a recruit for the UNSC army stationed on the perimeter of the HB-18 military base. In basic training he crushed his fellow recruits by completing drills first and winning card games. Noah often pokes fun and keeps an eye on his friend, Thomas Anderson. Increased Covenant activity has forced the UNSC to thrust recruits like Noah into an early state of combat readiness. Noah is under the command of Sergeant Reynolds and is eager to defend his home planet of Reach. Basic training has made Noah an exceptional recruit and the Human-Covenant War will force him to showcase his abilities on the front lines.

Reynolds is dedicated to scouting the perimeter of the HB-18 military base for any Covenant activity. Reynolds will only abandon his post when ordered to by his commanding officer, Lieutenant Jacobs. The Covenant's invasion of Reach will require him to be at his best if he is to succeed.

Captain Fields is an unyielding captain to a company of marines on the planet Harvest. His ability to give and receive orders has made him a well respected Captain. Fields is able to adjust his strategies and make tough compromises when serving under his commanding officer, Colonel Watts. During the Covenant's unrelenting invasion of Harvest, Fields turns to Angela Anderson and her squad of ODSTs to recon the Covenant's activity in the city. Evacuating civilians and encroaching Covenant wraiths will test his rigidness, as he is not willing to break under the immense pressure.
