Project Overview

The Divination Files is a fictional story told through podcast, featuring four coworkers working at a fortune-telling shop as they try to investigate the mystery of their recently deceased friend. This project is loosely based on The Magnus Archives by Rusty Quill.

The roles are mentioned in the project, I have four already cast but there's always some new stuff there so keep checking in!!

This is an unpaid project, and most roles have already been cast. This was made for fun and only fun, I'm not really expecting this to go far.

All images of the characters featured next to their roles are made in Picrew, I do not claim them as my own.

    Hello all!

    I am so sorry for the unplanned hiatus: I had some personal stuff going on + I was busy with school + work aswell. However! I have not forgotten about this project and these are my requests:
    1. everyone who's auditioned for Eva, can you DM me or leave a message here if you're still interested? I know it's been a while, so some may have lost interest. Please let me know and the Eva casing will be out shortly.
    2. the roles will be updated as needed, I realized I don't actually need some until season 2 which is so far in the future I don't want to think about it XD. Those will be taken down but might be re-posted as needed.
    3. If you haven't auditioned for Eva/you auditioned for Margaret but didn't get it, but you're still interested in helping with production/editing, please let me know! I need help haha.

  • New Roles Out!!

    Hey all!! First of all thank you so much for the Margaret auditions, pls keep them coming!! I may also extend the deadline if I feel the need.

    Second, there are some new roles out!! go check them out! I'd love it if people auditioned for Eva -- she's a very important character and I'd like to have her cast soon. In particular, I'm asking these people to audition for Eva (I think they're better suited for her but that doesn't mean they won't be Margaret)

  • Quick Update!

    Hey everyone!! Thank you so much for the submissions, I'm actually gobsmacked there's this many this early on. I will be keeping a careful watch on the auditions so by all means, audition!! I love listening to them.

    On another note, I've posted the other roles! They are pre-cast but I thought I'd include them so everyone can get a better idea of the project and how the characters interact with each other.

    I'm also looking for a theme song writer, so if you're a musician or you know one, you know where to send them. Thanks.

Margaret Hale is an upbeat, caring person. She  loves her friends and enjoys lightly teasing them, but she sometimes doesn’t tell them everything they should know. At this point in the story, she is in a half-dead state in a odd place that she refers to as the In-Between. When saying these lines below, she’s scared and confused but trying to be coherent. No special equipment or previous experience is required for this role. You could probably just record it on any device as long as it’s coherent. It doesn’t have to be high quality audio. This is a lead role, requiring a fair bit of commitment, but you can do this from home. It is unpaid as I am a student, but I’m still hoping to get people to audition (pls audition it doesn’t need to be good). If you get this role I will probably contact you over Discord or email. This is not a acting role, it's me hoping someone will compose a theme song for my project The Divination Files. 

Vaguely witchy/spooky vibe, about 15-30 seconds long, no lyrics, any instrument/software is perfectly fine, if you're able to submit them through Casting Call please do, but if you can't my discord is pluto_wayward and you can put it there. You'll recieve full credit for composing the theme song so please dont plagarize that is not cool.

If interested please have a look at the project description so you can get a better idea of what to use, but other than that I got nothing (I don't know much about music).

Lister Pacse is the detective of the Divination Collective. They are short-tempered, often a bit mean and are annoyed with Arthur’s tape recorders. Lister is known to be very nosy and often looks around where they are not welcome.

Arthur Hilt is the archivist/recorder at the Divination Collective. He is fond of tape recorders and keeps an extensive collection of them, as well as hiding them in nearly every room of the Collective. Arthur is very cheerful and upbeat, and jokes whenever he gets the chance.

The Seer, affectionately nicknamed “Moth” by Harriett, is the founder and main fortune-teller of the Divination Collective. He is typically mildly annoyed, apathetic, and sarcastic, however they quickly become provoked by tape recorders, much to the dismay of Arthur. The Seer contains much knowledge, but they aren’t too willing to share it unless people ask in the exact right way. He is described as “not fully human” and occasionally annoyed with their “mortal form”.

Eva Hale is the mother of Margaret. She has supernatural powers and because of this, considers herself to be superior to humans. Eva speaks in a posh, dignified manner, similar to the Queen of Hearts from Alice in Wonderland.

 
(Side note: I recommend you listen to some of the Queen of Hearts’ scenes from Alice in Wonderland so you can see what I’m looking for)

Henry Hale is the uncle of Margaret and the brother of Eva. He’s a down-to-earth, calm sort of man. Henry is about 30 years of age but this role can be performed by any age category. When saying these lines below, he is encouraging Eva (his sister) to rethink her plan to murder her own daughter.
