The Course of Entropy
Project Overview
The Course of Entropy is a sci-fi/fantasy crime drama about an alien's constant struggle for freedom and a father's efforts to keep his family safe from the trail of destruction the alien leaves. This is a casting call for the pilot, "Escapee," which I plan to make into an animatic and post onto YouTube. I'm looking for a skilled artist to help me develop a comprehensive storyboard. Runtime: Approximately 60 minutes.
Who am I?
Hi! You can call me Oni, and I'm the writer and sole organizer behind this project. It has been a passion of mine for many years and I'm just now opening it up to the public. I am a college student working on getting my associates while I slowly build my creative career on the side.
My Discord handle is attached -- if you're interested in the project, please stop by and introduce yourself!
Cheers!

The script has been edited to include a few characters earlier on in the series. The roles for NIRMICIUS (M), HIGH ADVISOR LOCH (M), and HIGH ADVISOR NOKETH (F) have opened. Cheers!
Diopside is a shrewd, adaptable survivor. He speaks very plainly, calmly, and concisely. He is always to the point. Norms of etiquette and general social interaction are an alien concept to him, literally. He wastes no time with his communication.
Pitch Range: Mid-Deep
[Straining, struggling to breathe] "People came. Guns. Killed scientists. I left. Don't kill me. Just got free... don't kill me."
"I always expect resistance from someone. Or persecution."
"You're an idiot. They will kill you after their work is done. They don't want to rise above the game. They just want to win."
Vindica Altorian is a loving husband and a good father, willing to do anything to protect his family. He tackles problems analytically and is an emotionally open man, though he doesn't always know how to communicate it.
Pitch Range: Mid-Deep, Gravelly
[Panicked] "Fotia, step away from that thing right fucking now! Not telling you again!"
[Calm, comforting] "Look... I know this situation is rough. It’ll take some getting used to, but listen: Everything’s okay. We’re gonna figure things out just like we always have."
[Stifling anger] "Didn’t expect to hear my voice, huh? Lemme guess. Plan was to get Diopside from me, tell the cops I went to Tumultua, and leave my body out in the cold void? Son of a bitch. You’re gonna get what’s coming to you."
Sera is a supportive, loving wife and an intelligent mother. Her closest relationship is with her daughter, who she'd do anything for. She's confident, but oftentimes absorbed in thought and introspection. She may sometimes come across as depressed, when in reality she's calculating and rationalizing.
"Well, if there’s anything you’re good at, it’s hunting. Apparently not the greatest salesman."
"I think it’s already too late for that. She’s not dumb. She knows I at least knew about it, and don’t think I can live with myself if we don’t tell her the full truth."
[Distraught, fearful] "Jesus fuck, Vindica, what just happened?"
Fotia is a strong-minded young woman with a clear ethical code and a compassion for others, no matter who they are or what they look like. She has a strong desire to make her own decisions and is beginning to understand life from a nuanced perspective, even if it means she has to grow up faster than everyone else her age.
[Frustrated] "Then make me understand. Don't just tell me that I don't, and then never fucking explain anything to me. I can't place trust in people who keep secrets."
[Tearing up] "So this is it? We’re just gonna run for the rest of our lives? Because you couldn’t find a better way to survive than to place us in danger?"
"He's scared! He says you healed him, you saved him!"
Nirmicius is the cold king of the Vermillion Legion, an interstellar empire. He is a calculating, emotionless machine designed to serve as the ideal leader. He has fierce expectations for his subordinates, but is a relatively compassionate figure. He is not brutal by nature, but can be by necessity.
He speaks in a tone and fashion similar to this voice reference.

"Noketh. I’d like to congratulate you on your success with Oberlu. I understand this was a personal project for you and I trusted you with a substantial leap.
You are welcome. Be advised: you may be considered for more intense expansion projects. I would recommend hiring a decent sum of subordinates. Your workload may about to increase tenfold."
"I do not believe you are taking this investigation as seriously as it needs to be taken. The containment of this subject is tantamount to understanding the clandestine operations within our subsidiary."
"You neglected to file a report. I need to be up to date on every development in this investigation. Every lead, every dead end, every tail. All of it."
Loch is a hardy, authoritative figure. He's the top organizer of all Legion federal police activity, so you could imagine him almost as the kind of cop that takes their job just a little too seriously.
Pitch/Inflection Preference: Rough, gravely, low-pitched. Military-type.
"Look, you're an economist, not a federal investigator. I don't need you meddling around in my affairs to impress Nirmicius."
"Means I didn’t delegate the resources I needed to delegate, and now I’m correcting that mistake. Never thought a bunch of eggheads could keep this kind of secret."
"I think you’re trying to take over one of my operations so you can prove your worth, because you’re a shark and you want a bigger piece of the pie. All businesspeople are."
Noketh is a businesswoman, through and through -- and a relatively energetic and ambitious one. She wants to get ahead of the game in any way she can, even if at times she has to compromise her professionalism. Though she's worked for the Legion as High Advisors for the past five years -- which is something to be extremely proud of on its own -- she looks for any opportunity to further expand her influence and experience. She's a shark, always looking for a bigger bite.
Preferences: Mid-pitch, energetic, almost playful when she has the upper hand.
"Sounds like your division could use some help. We both work under the same roof. Our work has overlapped several times."
"Never seen that before. I wonder what prompted this mishandling?"
"Is that insecurity I hear?"
Armidd Vane is the conniving right-hand man to Taring Kaggomorium, a tyrannical, dictatorial megacorporation leader. Armidd is uncaring of those he associates with and plays on their vulnerabilities to gain leverage over them. The only thing he puts above his loyalty to the business is his own survival.
A good reference for this voice would be Breaking Bad's Mike Ehrmantraut.

"Normally, I wouldn’t be interested in this kind of thing, but today, a chief of local police on Thylum contacted me about it. Seems the thing might’ve known this planet had practically no radio-frequency satellite use except for their government, which even that is remarkably small for a global nation."
"If Kagg finds out exactly why the Legion cut their ties with Vindica, we're both in hot fucking water. If you go after that girl, you and I are dead."
"Wow. This is really cozy. Y’know, I’d kill to have a weekend at a place like this. I take it you’re the old-fashioned type?"
Taring Kaggomorium, or simply Kagg, is a wicked, self-centered, corporate nightmare. He's J.D. Rockefeller with a meaner temperament and and a vicious series of underlings to do his dirty work. He cuts corners, he drags his subordinates through the mud, and he has no friends. He is an all-around asshole.
[Reading a file] "Ah... Telekinesis? How is that even possible? Where did you get this information?"
[Impatient] "You're transporting him and the creature in the same vehicle? A vehicle full of armed guards?"
[Stern] "I'm not stepping into Legion waters for some lab experiment."
Halin is an egghead, but a dangerously cunning one. He's a fearful man in light of the events of the first episode.
"Document 012-C covers all that in detail, but to sum it up, it seems to be able to learn to adapt to pretty much anything. It’s even learned some rudimentary language from its limited exposure to researchers. Very susceptible to suggestion."
"It’s not like us. Even when we do give it something to do, it just sits there for hours."
[Nervous] "I... I was under the impression that this wasn't something that would backfire on... on me, specifically. I mean, I was the one who opened up about this!"
Dr. Hockatiel is a hard-headed investigator with a strong sense of justice.
"Let’s get something for this subject. I feel like I’m looking into a padded cell rather than an animal habitat."
"Hm. Just so you know, this is going all the way up. Nirmicius and the Advisors. Don’t think showing this to me now makes up for hiding it; there are consequences."
"Dr. Halin, this is an investigation. This isn’t gonna end with you answering a few questions and me leaving. I and every relevant body under Loch’s command are gonna need access to every file you have, and you, Donovich, and every member of your staff are going on trial for concealing a Class-IV hazardous potential bioweapon."
Lead storyboarder. Responsible for creating a base outline for the major shots of each scene, taking camera angles and perspective into account. Some shots will require lighting dynamics. Script, character sheets, height charts, blueprints of locations, and other forms of assistance will be provided. I'm more than happy to work with you on a regular basis and provide additional support if need be.
Pay will be split up into scenes, totalling from $10-$665 depending on the number of scenes completed and the quality of services rendered. The goal is to set a basic but comprehensive framework for a high-quality animation, so you'll be given a liberal amount of time to work. Apply for further details.
Cheers!
