Project Overview
Description:
The Cosmos Among Us is a potential webcomic about human-like animals who struggle with survival and the concept of higher power in a dystopian society. The world seems to take place in one city, Gehenna, which is separated into many districts that are poor and rich. Our protagonists in this chapter are just starting to come together in their impoverished district, just trying to hold on to what little dignity and family they have left. All the while they begin to question their very own existence and the mysteries of the city. Philosophical, Theological, and Radical theories of life will be explored throughout this gruesome tale of unfortunate souls. At every turn is a new cataclysmic discovery, whether spiritually or realistically interpersonal. Multiple quests are being achieved here: one strives for vengeance, another societal equality, and so much more. In the end, though, it's all about finding out the truth.
This chapter of the webcomic does not contain any nudity but may contain scenes of substance abuse, violence, and gruesome imagery. Blood and profane language will be a common theme in the series. It is planned to be entirely draw in traditional black and white with a few instances of there being color.
What to Expect:
I'm just a one-man crew college student with a crazy huge dream to make webcomics. I wish I could pay my actors but I'm just as broke as any other university kid, unfortunately. Though if the series were to expand with a bigger audience and potential revenue, I would be more than happy to pay my actors for their wonderful effort. For now, I'm just a simple chump with sub-par drawing abilities. This is more of a passion project of mine, also used for research towards one of my degrees. Please don't expect me to be some kind of Picasso, cause I'm not. Though I am trying to develop my skills as much as I can. I just mainly want to have fun and put out what we create together out there!
In short, I am kind of new to this and any help of any sorts is appreciated!
What is Expected:
Just a willingness to contribute to the project is all I wish! High effort will be rewarded but most important, just have fun! Though, I do ask for some decent mic quality, On a level between Xbox Live Kid to Anime Dubs mic quality I ask for something in the middle. As long as I can hear your annunciation and pronunciation properly with little to no background noise we'll be all good!

Oba is a young lioness who's lost almost everything in her life. She has a tough attitude and is always suspicious of anyone being a threat. Aggression, intimidation, and violence seems to be the only ways she deals with issues. Despite her short temper, she is quite a smart and level headed girl, always putting others needs first. Only the people she cares about the most get to see her true, soft and gentle side.
Any type of accent is encouraged for Oba, whether it be a plain American English accent or something crazy, anything goes; as long as it stays in character of course!
[A man is trying to sell you something you don't want] (Frustrated) "Oh piss off would you?! Can't you see I'm busy ignoring you?! I don't give a damn about your 'special wares' or whatever!"
[You're trying to analyze a piece of evidence of a crime] (Concentrated) "This doesn't make any sense... Why would Mara kill this guy if she knows he doesn't have anything to do with us? Is she just killing random people for fun now?"
[Your friend is in need of consolation] (Attempting to be Gentle) "I-I-...uh... I'm sorry that happened to you. Losing a kid ain't something any kind of parent should go through. Just... if you need anything... you can always come to me. I promise I'll be here for you."
Chidi is a little boy who also happens to be a gazelle. He recently witnessed the murder of his parents and is sticking around with his newfound friend, Oba, a cranky lioness. Despite his struggles he's kept a very determined and happy demeanor, rarely showing any signs of remorse in even the darkest of situations. Some would say he's a bit naive but if you ask him he's all grown up!
Any accent will do for Chidi as long as it fits along with his character!
[You are asking for information from a nearby stranger] (Chipper) "Hey there mister! I was wondering if you've seen a giant tiger, two she-cats, and a funky looking goat around here. You haven't? Oh, alright then, thanks anyways!"
[You are not trying to listen to someone disagreeing with you] (Annoying) "La la la~ ! I can't hear you! I don't listen to people who have WRONG and HURTFUL opinions towards my friends! La la la~ !"
[A man has just confront you about your deceased family] (Saddened) "O-Oh. You knew them? My parents? Well, they're dead. I don't want to talk about it anymore so please, let's talk about something else."
Omega is, well, the Omega of his pack. All Omegas have no actual names, but this one is on a journey of proving his worth to his pack. He is willing to go to ANY length to climb the social ladder even if it's just a little bit. Initially, he has a very submissive and nervous tone to his voice. After rising up, though, there's hints of that old, scared boy mixed with a surge of insane confidence.
[You're kneeling before your boss] "I did what y-you asked me to do, boss! Here it is, one shiny, uh, crystal thing-a-ma-jig. (quietly) W-What exactly is this? (panicked) O-Oh!!! I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to ask! I'm sorry! I'm sorry! I'm so so sorry!"
[You are attempting to be threatening] "Y-You better back off, or else! I'll, uh, rough you up! Er- you don't wanna find o-out who m-my boss is! She's a real rough bloke! Just... ugh... Just get over here! Please? I REALLY don't w-want to report this...
[You get an influx of confidence and are looking down at those who opposed you] "Heh... W-Well, look how the, is it tables? Yeah! Look how the tables have turned! After taking so much...so much shit, look who finally has the upper hand? Me! THE Omega! And it's about time I had a little bit of respect around these parts. I'm gonna make sure you burn...
Mara is the main antagonist of this chapter and a notorious hyena. She's fast, quick, and very witty. Instead of using brute force, she uses her cunning mind to punch through her enemy right where it hurts. However, if push comes to pull, she has the proper techniques to tear someone apart. Everyone in many districts fear her name and the malignant reputation behind it. Most important of all, she's quite mentally unstable.
For this character in particular, she has a deeper feminine voice, a bit throaty. Any accent fits this accent well as long as it's in character!
[You're intimidating someone on the streets] (Cheeky) "You think you're a big deal around here? Ha ha ha...heh...That's cute. Real cute. Alright, joke's over. You show your damn ugly face around here there won't be enough of it left for the cops to recognize, got it?"
[You're driving fear into a victim] (Mental) "H-Hey, haha, hey you! Wanna have some fun?! How about we play a little fun game. It's called, which one of your family members should I kill first until you spit out the truth?! Hehehe! I thought you'd say no!"
[One of your operations has been compromised] (Delirious) "I don't really understand what's going on, but all I know is that you're not gonna get away with this you damn dirty rat, heh! I'll get you back, and I'll get you good!"
Raidon is a sweet and cuddly Tiger who's just striving for peace in the world. He's mainly discriminated against due to the bad reputation big cats like him tend to have, but looks aren't everything. Despite how big, muscular, or toothy he is, Rai is always willing to help someone in need. Sometimes how much he wants to help people can get his emotions to go a little...whack per say.
Any accent is acceptable for this role as long as it's in character!
[You are pulling your friends together in for a big hug] (Cheery) "Oh come on Oba! Cheer up! How about a hug? Hugs are the best way to make anyone happy!"
[You are trying to get some bad men to leave you alone] (Nervous) "Hey gents, I'm not really the type of cat who's looking for trouble or a scrap. I'm just trying to vibe and live on until the next life. How about we call it square and hug it out like real men?"
[You're upset that someone hurt your friend] (Emotional) "What kind of animal do you think you are?! What gives you the right to think you can just waltz in here and treat us like crap?! Don't make me hurt you! You don't want me to hurt you!"
A half blind cheetah who is trying to uncover the reason behind the murder of her cubs, Nelinha is a strong-willed and emotional woman. She's very loyal and dedicated to her friends and will sacrifice anything to get to the bottom behind the deaths of her children. Once she finds their killer, she will stop at nothing to murder them in the same way done to her kids. Her emotions can be triggered easily with delicate scenarios that go on in the dystopian city.
Any accent will be acceptable for Nelinha as long as it fits her character!
[You are talking among your friends] (Neutral) "You know, when I was a much younger she-cat, we used to run around the subway without a care in the world. Now when I see a little one walking too close to the rails I can't help but screech!"
[You're holding a potential suspect regarding the murder of your children] (Agitated) "I swear to GOD if you killed them, I'll tear you limb from limb! I don't care how loud you scream!"
[You are severely missing your children] (Emotional) "Every day I can't believe that they're still gone. It's like a part of me is missing, almost like... like a part of me has died. I'd give anything to take their place, but God's been cruel to me!"
Fariandel, or Faria for short, is the younger sister of Archangel Corinthia. Despite being a mystical goat-like creature, she wishes to live an adventurous life like the 'mortals' she helps watch over. Her biggest fear is losing her sister and in turn having to take up her position in the family line. Her voice has a carefree tone to it, soft and almost angelic.
(You're having a conversation with your sister) "Don't you ever wonder what it's like living among the mortals, beyond the prison cells? I want to explore not just other dimensions, but the whole universe! The Cosmos and its entirety! What? No! This is not just some stupid dream! You've got everything handled here, Cori, so that means I can go!
(You have just discovered the mortal world and encountering them for the first time) "What are you wearing?! Is this really the fashion here? It's... It's... AMAZING! You must take off your clothes at once and let me try them on! What do you mean no? Do you guys not have undergarments here?
(A monster has just escaped from its cell and you've just found them) "Oh no... This isn't good! Not good at all! (sheepishly) Heeeeyyyy buddy! How's it goin'? I know you're busy rampaging through the forest but I'd REALLY appreciate it if you got back in your cage. No, seriously... My sis is gonna kill me!"
A mysterious white wolf, the Heiress is the current leader of one of the biggest wolf clans in Gehenna City. She constantly wears a muzzle so not many people know what her full face looks like. There's a very nice and proper ring to her personality, always speaking very eloquently. However, when provoked, she can be one of the most intimidating animals around. She seems very kind, but she's just as violent as everyone else in this hellish city. Her word is final and she knows how to get around people easily. The final quirk to her is her compulsive gambling. Though it's a total addiction, she's very good at it, barely losing any matches. Basically, she's a clever girl who's a total boss.
(I imagine her with a foreign accent, even potentially an English one, but surprise me with what you have!)
[Two people you've never met have come before you, asking for your favor] (Puzzled, yet cocky) "What's this? New contenders in my ring? Hmmm...I've never seen any animals like you before. Especially you, grass-eater. Very bold for someone like you to show up around my district. To what do I owe the...pleasure? Speak quickly, though. If I get too bored I'll just have my men throw you out."
[You're gambling at a high stakes game, enjoying the thrill] "I'm starting to get bored. Boys! Bring me my suitcase. Let's make our bets a bit higher... I'm going all in. That's 10 mil on the table right now. Let the game begin..."
[You're threatening someone who's holding information from you] "I'm not going to ask again. WHERE is she?! Where's Mara?! We've been over this a thousand times! There's no point in holding back against me, the more you resist, the more pain you'll be in. Now, spill it before I rip your face off!"
Sigmos is a giant American Alligator who's not only a landlord, but an animal who knows his way around the crime scene in Cosmos City. While he himself isn't necessarily a big bad guy, he knows how to get what he wants out of people. Although money is his best friend he has a big heart of his own. Animals down on their luck is his biggest weakness to his business. He has a very deep voice with a bit of a Southern spark to it.
[Someone is trying to strike a bargain with you] "Hmmmm... I LOVE the smell of a good deal. Here's what we're gonna do, buddy boy: I'll let you stay here in my apartment for a couple days IF, and only IF you give me the information I want. What IS the information I want? Oh man oh man! You're gonna get a kick out of this..."
[A group of animals are trying to fight in your house] "While I love the rustlin' and tustlin' of a fight as much as the next gator, could you like, not do it here? See that sculpture over there? That's FINE China, and when I says fine, I says FINE. So, git."
[You've come across a poor animal who's decided not to pay their debt] "Oh ho ho! What do we have here? (laughter) It's you! Good to see ya! I'm guessin' you have my money? Oh? You DON'T?! (laughter gets louder) Niccceee, real smooth. So, why'd you show up? Think I'm some kind of charity organization? No no no, I want my money, and I want it NOW.
Amos is Eve's husband, a lion who's very full of himself and just wants to give up on the homeless shelter he helps run. All of his hope is gone and although he was once a vibrant young animal, he's now a total grouch with absolutely no aspirations in life. He was born into poverty and believes he will die in poverty. As for his voice, it's rough and gritty with no particular accent. Whoever is to voice him needs to make sure they're not afraid of shouting into a mic.
[You're cranky with your wife] "God damnit, Eve! I told you that the chicken belongs in THIS fridge, not THAT one! Now all of the other food is gonna be contaminated! God, stay out of my kitchen if you ain't gonna do anything useful in here!"
[The police is at the door and you don't know what to do] "The hell...? Eve! EVE! Where is that woman? EVE! The police is at the DOOR! Are you hiding criminals in the shelter again?! We talked about this! Once more city violation and the shelter's done! Do you hear me?! (pause) EEEVVVE!!!
Eve is Oba's stuck-up sister. She inherited the family business after their parents died which is a homeless shelter that survives purely off of donations. Times have always been rough for this lioness, having gone from living the high life to plummeting into poverty. She's very serious and has a no-nonsense kind of behavior. She carries a foreign accent, the signature sound of a predator who lived in the rich district.
[You are annoyed with your sister and telling her what's what] "Oba, we don't have the ROOM for this little...thing. We have no more beds, little to no food, and barely any water! I'm sorry, but you're going to have to find someone else who can take him. Besides, keeping a grass-eater? Here?! Are you out of your mind?!"
[Your husband is trying to console you] (Somber) "She's... gone. She's really gone, Amos. After everything that we've done for her, she just picks up and leaves her family behind for what? A pesky grass-eater? Since when have they given a damn about us?! I... I can't forgive her for this... I won't forgive her for this."
[After a long time of searching you've found your sister] (panting) "Don't... you... move... Don't you fucking move! Do you know how long I've spent trying to find your sorry ass?! To protect you?! (pause) I did this because I'm your sister. It's what we do, believe it or not."
Of course, I need actors to voice random people that appear every so often in the comic, like screaming schmuck #3. All help is appreciated!!!
