Backstory: Recently graduated from school, Aizick dreams of leaving his small rural village to become a professional sorcerer, despite his mother’s disdain for magic.
Personality: An upbeat and excitable kid, Aizick can be a little crude, but has a good heart and moral compass. Although he is very intelligent, his tenacity and naivety occasionally leads him to act impulsively in his own self-interests.
Voice Quality/Tone: Young, bubbly, buoyant, bright.
Language and Accents: English (American) with some use of African-American Vernacular English (AAVE).
SAMPLE LINES:
“Look at this! Apparently this glyph has enough energy to power a whole ship by itself.”
(nervously) “And guess what, this exam opens the door to a bunch of great jobs! Some mayyy—or may not—involve...magic, but there are a lot of great opportunities.”
“Clouse! You won't believe what I found!”
“Hmm. Alright, ladies, gentlemen—Clouse. Stand back and witness the awesomeness of modern magic!”
“Look, I just wanna know what’s so important about this book that’s making her keep it hidden this whole time when she’s the one who's trying to take my future away. I should at least get to know one secret; I’m owed that.”
(casting a spell) “Lightning Rod!”
“Just watch, I'm gonna show you how much of a novice you really are!”

CASTING CALL: wavyrn(dot)com/TCOC-Casting-Call
Backstory: Clouse is from a wealthy family hailing from the same suburbs as Aizick. Due to their mothers’ work, they are well-traveled.
Personality: Clouse is Aizick’s rational counterpart—humble, kind, book-smart, and a little snarky. They are reserved, soft-spoken, and a bit socially awkward, but this quickly dissipates when hyperfixating on interests and passions. Clouse and Aizick are complementary opposites who make up for each other’s shortcomings.
Voice Quality/Tone: Leaning androgynous; slightly nasal quality (optional, but not required) and floaty nonchalance.
Language and Accents: English (American)
SAMPLE LINES:
(unenthused) “That’s nice, Aizick...”
(excited) “We did it. We passed!”
“I know what spell it is— you’ve shown me that book like a hundred times. Don’t you get tired of it?”
“Aizick, what are you doing— Do you have any idea what time it is?! And why are you climbing through the window, we have a door.”
“Aizick. This is an unregistered spellbook. Where did you find this?!”
(scared) “Aizick, what’s going on...”
screaming in pain
(catching breath) “Aizick? Aizick! Wake up! Come on, we have to go.”
(disgusted) “Ugh, touching…”

CASTING CALL: wavyrn(dot)com/TCOC-Casting-Call
Backstory: After a turbulent childhood as an orphan, Lloyd used their affinity for magic to work odd jobs with their found family. After the Great Calamity, Lloyd and Adriana were unwillingly recruited by the government.
Personality: Lloyd is a kind and put-together professional in work-settings, effectively masking a mild awkwardness. In private, they are clumsy, disorganized, and carefree—but they bear the guilt of their past.
Voice Quality/Tone: Calm and composed. Can speak in both a meaningful, serious tone, and a lighter, silly one.
Language and Accents: English (American)
SAMPLE LINES:
“The people of Athel once lived prosperously; celebrations of their technological accomplishments rang through Urth, but devastation befell them too soon. A shadow emerged from the darkness.”
“Fifteen years ago, the sorcerer known as Arsalan summoned one of the forbidden creatures of Azaloth to lay ruin to the city of Athel, ripping the flesh off reality itself. Together they claimed the lives of two million people.”
“Adriana, a message from Commander Rose.”
“We both stared into the eyes of god, but when you looked, you blinked…”

Backstory: Once a child soldier, Adriana and her sister were rescued by Lloyd and became their close right-hand ally. Adriana now serves as Lloyd's bodyguard and trusted partner.
Personality: No-nonsense and stoic, but around the people she trusts, Adriana is a hopeful, caring, and deeply loyal friend who will do anything for those she loves. When needed, she knows how to handle a room with a very dry, sarcastic sense of humor.
Voice Quality/Tone: Smooth, feminine; lower register. Calm and mature, a little deadpan.
Language and Accents: English (American) with some use of African-American Vernacular English (AAVE).
SAMPLE LINES:
“Ignore it. Let Shelby earn her paycheck for once.”
(angry) “Get off of me! I’m not just going to stand here and let them die!”
(begrudgingly) “The one night I decide to cook…”
“Your boy is an exceptional protégée, but you not allowing him to pursue a magical career—safe or not—isn’t going to keep him from finding a way. It sounds frustrating, but I don’t believe he would have taken that book if you’d just given him an outlet for that talent.”

CASTING CALL: wavyrn(dot)com/TCOC-Casting-Call
Backstory: Isadora hasn’t been the same since the Calamity—she speaks not of it. Without friends or loved ones besides Aizick, she puts everything into raising her son right… and without magic (she hates magic).
Personality: Although a recluse and worrier, she treats everyone with care and compassion, especially her son, Aizick. But she carries an underlying grief with her…
Voice Quality/Tone: Fretful and mature, though almost worn-down.
Language and Accents: English (American)
SAMPLE LINES:
(angry) “How many times do I have to say this? Magic. Is. Dangerous. It's destructive and unpredictable. And statistically speaking, it kills on average seventy thousand people a year. Did you know that? Seventy. Thousand!”
“Aizick Ali Adina. Did you take that sorcery exam—that I specifically told you not to take—behind my back?”
“There goes our dinner for tonight, a perfectly good shrimp meatloaf.”
“Hey, there's food on the counter if you get hungry. Not shrimp meatloaf, I know how much you love that. (pause) Listen, Aizick I-”
(distraught, blood curdling scream) “Aizick!”
heavy breathing “Clouse! Are you okay? What happened to your hand!”
