Backstory: Isadora hasn’t been the same since the Calamity—she speaks not of it. Without friends or loved ones besides Aizick, she puts everything into raising her son right… and without magic (she hates magic).

Personality: Although a recluse and worrier, she treats everyone with care and compassion, especially her son, Aizick. But she carries an underlying grief with her…

Voice Quality/Tone: Fretful and mature, though almost worn-down.

• (angry) “How many times do I have to say this? Magic. Is. Dangerous. It's destructive and unpredictable. And statistically speaking, it kills on average seventy thousand people a year. Did you know that? Seventy. Thousand!”

• “Aizick Ali Adina. Did you take that sorcery exam—that I specifically told you not to take—behind my back?”

• “There goes our dinner for tonight, a perfectly good shrimp meatloaf.”

• “Hey, there's food on the counter if you get hungry. Not shrimp meatloaf, I know how much you love that. (pause) Listen, Aizick I-”

• (distraught, blood curdling scream) “Aizick!”
