The Centurion: Student Animation
Project Overview
This project is for my final piece in my second year of my Animation and Concept art course. I plan to create a teaser trailer for said project and need voice talents for most of the characters.
The project is a proposed television series set on an alien planet where humans are able to use a plant native to their planet for fuel. It is a clean source of energy and seventy-five years ago, was used by the great Doctor Demeter 'Reta' Duree to create robots. A seamless combination of technology and wood, these robots have assimilated into society, taking over such mundane tasks as cleaning, patrolling suburban neighbourhoods and driving public transport. They are regarded as subclass members of society, mostly ignored but occasionally graffitied by troubled youths. The story follows Veneida, a young woman (17 –21) who finds out that not only is she adopted, but she is also the biological granddaughter of Doctor Duree. An intrepid person by nature, Veneida decides to meet up with her closest living relative- The grouchy Dr Melanthios 'Theo' Duree- a man in his 50s that just so happens to run the biggest robotic energy research center in the land. Hijinks ensue and she ends up working for him and alongside his team of genius plant-robot engineers.
All is well for a few months, when seemingly out of nowhere robots all over the land begin to malfunction, disappear or go 'rogue'.
Veneida, her Uncle and their team join forces with the Police force of this world to try and understand what is going on. As time goes on, secrets come out, enemies are made, and betrayal lingers heavy in the air...
You will be required to voice a few lines for a teaser trailer. There won't be too many lines at all, and working on a student project will look great on your voice acting CV/credentials!
You can apply to as many roles as you want, but no background noise please! USB mics are preferred, but are by no means mandatory.

Doctor Melanthios 'Theo' Duree is the eldest son of the great Demeter 'Rita' Duree, inventor of the first robots. He's gruff, anti-social and a down-right genius. Despite his sarcastic and cold demeanour, there's a heart of cold somewhere inside, and when he's not arguing with the Chief Enforcer, he has been known to smile on occasion. He acts as a mentor for some of his younger scientists, and after the arrival of his young niece, he ends up being an awkward sort-of father figure to her. (If this was live-action, we both know Pedro Pascal would be playing him).

*Sarcastic, tired, and in want of a cup of coffee* Do I seriously look to you like the kind of man that reads his emails this early in the week?
*Dismissal, nonchalant* Niece? You must be mistaken. No woman in the world would willingly procreate with my brother.
*Mildly annoyed* Chief Zweigert, to what do I owe the displeasure of seeing you?
Chief Enforcer Loretta Zweigert is a no-nonsense go-getter. She's the Chief Enforcer of the police department in Science sector 1, where most of the animation trailer is set. She is well-respected by other enforcers and most members of the community, bar the head scientist Doctor Theo. Occasionally they get along, but only really when mocking his interns and or her new officers. She sounds professional, strong and in-charge. She can soften her words, but that softness is often reserved for her favourite apprentice officers.
Most people are mildly scared of her.

*Loretta's just been interrupted. She's hurried into the room, but isn't too worried- more like mildly frustrated* This better be important Doctor- I was finally winning a game of poker against Gydeon
*She's studying a perplexing case, and asks her two apprentice officers for their opinions* Agents Roosevelt, Gydeon. What do you think of this... thing?
*Addressing a large, mixed group of people* Unfortunately for us, this goes beyond just the science department or just the enforcer division. This includes both of our teams: So let's do our best to work TOGETHER.

*Say something you think would fit*
Gydeon is one of the last Centurion robots created by the great 'Reta' Duree. He was made specifically as an Enforcer Droid, and although most of the other robots made for this purpose have been scrapped, Chief Zweigert insisted on keeping him around (She's a sentimental woman at heart.). He's thoroughly straight-laced, but has a cheery outlook for a being that should have been scrapped a decade ago.

Oh dear... *those* two on a case together?! This will be a nightmare and a half.
Chief, doesn't it seem a little odd that there are lacerations on the *back* of the Centurion's hands?
I am Gydeon, it's a pleasure to make your acquaintance.
This is for all extra voices- any and all are welcome to audition!
