Survivors Dogs Animatic
Project Overview
Survivors Dogs is a book series by Erin Hunter.
I wanted to make a voice acted animatic for the starving fandom so here we are!
The animatic takes place when Lucky and Mickey decide to help three abandoned pups left in the Dog Garden (A place where violent dogs have lived).
Please read the rules before auditioning.
Please have little to no background noise in your audition. If it’s possible, record the lines in a secluded area so I’m able to hear you loud and clear!
When auditioning, repeat the lines at least 3 times, each different than the last. It helps me understand your range.
Discord is mandatory! We will be communicating in a server, but there will be no calls. I will direct your voice lines in the chat and will possibly ask you to redo and change things a lot. (Not because say you might not be a perfect voice actor, but because I want to make sure I have the best take for the finished project :] )
I’m looking for voice actors who can bring emotion and personality to the characters. I’m not asking for professional voices, but please try your best.
This project is something I’m doing in my free time. I’m not going to spend weeks stressing to get it done as soon as possible, so while you shouldn’t have to wait half a year to hear yourself in the animatic, I can’t promise it done quickly. But I will send updates for sure in the server!
Lastly, if anybody was worried, do not fear! Nobody will have to scream or cry or anything like that for this project. Other than the dialogue, characters will sigh, grunt (Lucky and Mickey do this only), and make other subtle noises. If anything, Lick shouts once and Grunt speaks with a loud voice, but nothing too extreme.

Mickey is watchful and nurturing, intelligent, and he cares deeply for his pack. He also used to carry a glove around with him in reminder of his longpaw companion, which showed how loyal to his longpaws before Lucky told him to get rid of it. Even though he is a wild dog now, he still misses his longpaws. His special skill among the Leashed Dogs is his herding skills.

Mickey looks over his shoulder, muttering. He is fearful and nervous, but should sound more surprised. “I think it’s another pup…”
Mickey says this quietly, unhappy with the circumstances, “No… but what else can we do?”
Mickey stared behind the metal fence, shaking his head nervously. He’s paranoid, voice lowered in thought. "But the Fierce Dogs are so brutal. And how do we know that this isn't a trap? What if they are pretending to be pups to lure in smaller dogs?" He backed away a couple of paces, bumped into a tree trunk, and spun around, his eyes wild with fear. "We can't go into the Dog-Garden, Lucky. We *can't.*”

Lucky is a troubled dog. He is streetwise, intelligent, and cautious in love. He enjoyed being a Lone Dog, but as he thought that if he was in a pack, he would have to care for other members and worry about them—this is why he does not like to get too close to others. However, he has an honorable heart and is kind, and a fair fighter when needed. Lucky also seems to think that he knows much about Pack life; however, he is shocked at the harshness and order in which the Wild Pack maintains, and doesn't know much about their customs and rules.

(Lucky is talking to pups who've watched their mother die, but don't understand death yet.) "I understand." Lucky says softly. He is trying his best to sound calm despite an urge to howl in pity. "Really, I do. I was separated from my Mother-Dog when I was a pup, just like you. I still miss her and think about her."
"It's okay," Lucky told his friend with a sigh, watching the pups thoughtfully. "The pup is bluffing. I don't think anyone is here."
"They're crying with hunger." Lucky said, his chest tightening with pity. He paused to recall his memory of his own Mother-Dog. He added softly, "And grief,"

Grunt is fierce and determined, driven by a strong sense of loyalty to his pack and a desire to prove himself. He is stubborn and proud, often quick to anger, but deep down he craves acceptance and respect. As a pup, he struggled to live up to the expectations of the Fierce Dog code, especially under Blade’s harsh leadership. Though he tries to hide it, Grunt has a vulnerable side shaped by fear of weakness. His special skill among the Fierce Dogs is his strength and relentlessness in battle.

"Our pack will be back soon!" Grunt shouted, threatening the visitors. But he was doubtful
"You're not part of our pack!" Grunt snapped, angry and suspicious. "You shouldn't be here!"
*This pup growls a lot, so grunt and groan angrily a few times. It should sound like when a frustrated child doesn't get what he wants.*

Wiggle is a shy, quiet pup. In the scene the animatic is based off, he usually hides behind his siblings and keeps quiet.

"Will we be able to see our Mother-Dog again if she's with the Earth-Dog?" Wiggle asked quietly. He hardly spoke up until now. He gave a hopeful wag of his tail.
“I don’t *want* the Earth-Dog to have her,” Wiggle said in a tiny voice, confused and sad.
Lick (as she gets older) is courageous and loyal. She is also very impulsive, doing whatever she feels like in the moment. This means she is quick to snap at other dogs, leading to Alpha viewing her as a vicious and aggressive Fierce Dog, even though sometimes her instincts save herself and the others. Lick is also a great fighter due to her Fierce Dog heritage. She also has a strong sense of right and wrong, and does not hesitate to disobey orders.

“I don’t want to leave mother!” Lick told the older dog, worried. “I don’t want to leave her with any dog.”
Lick notices a dead pup nearby and doesn’t understand what’s happened to him. “He’s hurt…” She said in a small voice, confused, sad, and wanting to help.
“Who are you?” (Shouting, afraid, and suspicious) “Go away!”
If auditioning as a foley artist, please demonstrate your ability to record real-world sounds such as dogs walking, digs digging, and environmental sounds. Make sure your recordings are clear and free of unwanted noises. You may use a combination of household objects and creative techniques to recreate realistic sound effects.
As with all aspects of the project, we expect that you will keep all audition materials and project-related audio confidential. Do not share any work-in-progress unless instructed otherwise.
If auditioning for sound designer, I'm looking for people who can think creatively and adapt to various scenarios. If a scene requires specific sounds (like a dog barking, growling, or whimpering), demonstrate how you approach creating those sounds.
