Deadline Closed
And with that, the deadline for "Strange Journey III" is closed. I will now go over each submission and see who will get cast and who won't. Thanks to everyone who auditioned.
Hello, everyone!
Well, we are officially celebrating two consecutive years of my presence here on Casting Call Club, and I couldn’t be any more happier. The support I’ve gotten for my projects is nothing short of amazing, and I’m gonna take the opportunity to give each of you guys my sincere thanks. Now, for the past couple of years, I’ve been giving people updates on the “Strange Journey” films, and so far, despite the occasional roadblocks, things have been running quite smoothly. For the first film, we are currently on the last stages of pre-production with 25 backgrounds drawn and a fifth animation test will be out momentarily with more fluidity, since we still have to improve on the overall choppy animation quality.
We’re also re-editing a storyboard version of the film itself, complete with music and sound effects, and will be released during the month of September. After we finish the backgrounds and animation tests, live-action filming/animation on “Strange Journey” will finally begin hopefully at the start of the next year. As for the sequel, we’ve completed the casting process for the amount of characters featured in the script, and we plan to start storyboarding at the end of November. As with the first film, a storyboard version of the film will be planned and finished in the future. It’s been a wild ride trying to get these films off the ground, and while there have been bumps in the road, I can honestly say that we’ve been doing a great job keeping the spirit and passion of “Strange Journey” alive, and I couldn’t be any more proud of the two main casts than I already am.
But, sadly, as an old saying goes, all good journeys must come to an end.
And, thus, I present to you all an unpaid casting call for the final film in the “Strange Journey” trilogy: “Strange Journey III”. Before I go any further and discuss what I wanna do for this project, I’m gonna give you a rundown of the film’s plot synopsis:
“A human fugitive from an animated multiverse enlists the help of Huskywood queen Holly Husky and her friends to destroy a planet-sized mechanical being named Zaslav, who has turned the multiverse into a wasteland using a special kind of toxic gas and plans to erase it using a device known as the Dimension Hopper. Along with a few of their multiverse counterparts, an escaped prisoner named Tracey Osbourne, and a cranky squirrel called the Acoracle, the Strange Journey gang must restore peace and harmony in the decaying multiverse before Zaslav succeeds with his devious plan.”
For this installment, which will be a long-term project, I wanted this second sequel to be bigger, better, and more ambitious than the first two combined. That means it’ll have more character development, new locations, and a lot more action set pieces that could possibly rival the set pieces from the first “Strange Journey”. Also, it will focus on the theme of overcoming obstacles and relying on your loved ones to achieve said challenges, especially when it comes to a plot centering on multiple universes and destroying the feared planet-like being Zaslav.
Now, here is where things get interesting. I’m not gonna spoil anything, but I will give you a few key details that will set this apart from the first two films. For starters, in contrast with the previous two films, “Strange Journey III” sort of ditches the parodies and references and goes for a darker tone in terms of its overall story and the way that the action scenes are gonna be handled. There will still be a couple of parodies and maybe a couple of references here and there, but those will be few and far between. So, it’s still “Strange Journey”, just a bit different in terms of tone and structure. Secondly, the characters of Jack Bushtail and Lila Skunk will be written out of the script. Why? Well, the reason these two are left out of the story is that I want to tell a different kind of romance. Now, like I said, I’m not gonna give away ANY details on this, but trust me, you’ll be surprised as who’ll substitute for Jack and Lilia as our main couple.
The third and final key detail I’m gonna give you is a pretty important one to remember. There will be crossover and steampunk themes presented in the film, inspired by 2003’s “The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen”, and other films such as “Who Framed Roger Rabbit”, and “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness”. There won’t be any characters used in the film itself, only locations from various animated films and TV shows, as well as several Easter eggs, although most of them won’t be mentioned in the script. The locations will not be revealed except in the aforementioned script after auditioning.
I’m hoping that we can give this trilogy a proper conclusion so that we can go ahead and say good-bye to the characters we’ve come to admire for the past two movies…even though the first “Strange Journey” is still in pre-production, as mentioned before.
Now, with all that said, here are a few rules to keep you in mind:
- Be sure to have a good quality microphone. Make sure that there is NO background noise when you record your lines.
- When you get cast for a certain character, the script will be delivered to you right after so that I can have you look over the script itself. Then, I will give you instructions on what to do next with the character you’re voicing as well as a deadline.
- Always have a Discord ID with you, that way we can keep in contact with each other.
- Be sure to take your time with the lines you're recording. Feel free to take a break, take deep breaths, and drink some water. You don't have to rush anything.
- Just be yourself and have fun with these characters. We are allowed to have a good time.
The deadline for “Strange Journey III” will be on May 26th, 2023. After the deadline closes at 12:00 a.m., I will go ahead and choose which ones will be cast so that we can all go to work. I’m looking forward to working with you all and let’s hope for a proper conclusion to the trilogy. Take care and stay safe!
And with that, the deadline for "Strange Journey III" is closed. I will now go over each submission and see who will get cast and who won't. Thanks to everyone who auditioned.
Hey, guys! As you all may know, today is the final day for auditions. So far, many talented VAs have auditioned for almost all of the characters featured. Except for the Acoracle and Mint. So, the deadline's extended to May 10th of this year at exactly 12:00 a.m so that more submissions will be added and hopefully get a couple candidates for Mint and the Acoracle.
Again, the deadline's been extended to May 10th. Good luck!
Hey, Strange Journey crew! So far, over the past few weeks, 26 auditions have been submitted for Strange Journey III and everything is running along quite nicely. I've enjoyed every single audition and I can't wait to hear more! But we got bigger fish to fry, for there are only three characters left to be filled for new submissions.
Speaking of submissions, feel free to audition for some of the other characters that are featured, like Amity Blight and Frederick Husky II. The deadline for SJ3 is in ten days, so I'm looking forward to hearing new auditions! Good luck!
Holly Husky is the fifteen year-old queen of the kingdom of Huskywood. After defeating the wicked aunt Vivian for the throne, she has grown into a headstrong young woman who is willing to do anything to keep both her friends and the kingdom safe from harm's way. She has also proved to be a fearless leader who always has a plan sorted out when things go out of hand. Her multiverse counterpart is Holly Huskell, a former princess from the kingdom of Alcoa who seeks out to destroy the planet-sized Zaslav.
Holly's voice has to be at a medium-high pitch. Whenever she gets angry or gets emotional, be sure to make those emotions real. Also, when she is speaking like a leaders give those lines a determined and commanding tone.
(confused) Another universe? You're telling us that there are other worlds that we never knew about?
I'm deeply sorry to hear about what happened to your family and your kingdom.
We can't just sit here while another universe is crumbling before our very eyes. What if other universes suffer the same fate? (brief pause) That's not gonna happen. We're gonna help Huskell restore the multiverse, even if Zaslav wipes us all out.
Once a secret agent for the United States government, he has retired from the spy business and works with his friend William as one of Holly’s Royal Guards.
I forgot that Shirley's singing with Patricia! Didn't she and Jack split up?
So, what do we do now?
It's kind of our thing. (chuckles)
A former cowboy from Tumbleweed Gulch who settled down in Huskywood with Jacob to be one of Holly’s Royal Guards.
Other dimensions? Planet-sized machines? Toxic gas? This is getting confusing.
OK, OK, I'm scared! I haven't been this frightened since that time Lorenzo almost burned me!
Oh! You and Spot have a magic act tonight as well!
Alicia Calico is Holly's former caretaker and currently serves as her Royal Feline Advisor in Huskywood. She is portrayed as a kind yet fearless individual who does her best to make sure that Queen Holly is safe. Alicia's voice has a medium-high pitch.
OK, your Highness, me and Uncle Frederick have scheduled a whole day for us in honor of your birthday. After breakfast, I booked you for a tennis tournament at 10:00, then we have a luncheon with the Huskywood Royal Council at 1:30, and I ordered tickets to Patricia and Shirley's duet at 7:00.
Oookay! Great gift, Spot. (slight chuckle) Well, you'd better get yourself ready, your Highness. You've got a big day ahead of you.
Speaking of which, we'd better get back there quick. Those gifts aren't gonna open themselves.
A former witch from Huskywood who once operated the Rabbit’s Foot potion shop. She has closed down her shop and became a magician, with Holly's former Royal Beagle Spot as her assistant. Hilda's voice has to be bubbly, upbeat, and always ready for anything. She does have quite a temper when she gets annoyed, though. Her voice has to be at a sort-of high pitch.
For my first trick, I, the Great Hilda Cottontail, shall make this ordinary beagle disappear before your very eyes!
Hmm, that's honestly a good question. I guess ever since I closed down the Rabbit's Foot, I didn't know what to do. Then, while I was working at a burger joint, I came across a commercial for the Great Stromboli. He was looking for assistants, so I quit my job and applied. Over time, I improved my skills, and I started performing magic tricks in front of a wide audience. Not gonna lie, it was fun.
Your uncle has a point, Holly.
Valerie is Holly's 23 year-old sister who has possessed winter-themed powers at an early age. She has since grown to be someone who cares for her family and friends while also fighting for both her home and the multiverse side-by-side.
I can't believe it! My sis is officially fifteen!
I mean, hey, sure beats sitting in the front row. It's pure hell getting to those spots.
With pleasure! (growls) Damn it! I almost had her!
Patricia Bushtail is a professional singer and the sister of Jack Bushtail. She and Jack have since split up due to Jack's engagement to his girlfriend Lila Skunk, and is now singing partners with her friend Shirley Radner. Patricia has a Boston accent and has a medium-high pitch.
We love you, Holly. And we hope that you'll continue to rule Huskywood when you turn 85.
(in awe) Whoa.
She's right. We've been there.
Shirley Radner is a poodle who was once a damsel in distress from a silent movie dimension. Years after being rescued by Holly and the gang, she steps in for Jack Bushtail as Patricia's singing partner so that he can focus on his future with his girlfriend Lila Skunk and would later fight side-by-side with her friends in one final adventure. Her multiverse counterpart is Shirley Rhodes, a marshal from the Western town of Swansong Village with a shoot first-ask questions later attitude in terms of her tough demeanor and her trusty rifle, a Winchester Model 1892. Her goal is to take down the planet-sized Zaslav who has kidnapped her younger sister Martha. Shirley has a medium-high pitch.
Before we start, me and Patty would like to give a special shout-out to a certain someone here in the audience tonight. Happy birthday, Holly! This song's for you.
We must be traveling through the outer limits of time and space.
We are not sending the other Holly back to her universe! What if this Zaslav catches her? She'll probably get killed!
Tracey Osbourne is a survivor of the multiverse's destruction who joins the Strange Journey gang in their mission to destroy Zaslav after a fight with a small army of Terminator-like machines called Cylonixes. She plans to make her escape after being held prisoner by Zaslav. Tracey's voice has a medium-high pitch.
Appreciate it, talking wolf. The name's Tracey Osbourne. I've been trying to get out of this dump for days ever since Zaslav came into the picture. I was held prisoner by him and his Cylonix goons right after the whole multiverse turned upside-down.
No way. I'd rather fight him alone, even if that gas stops me dead in my tracks. Besides, I refuse to let anyone get hurt.
We'll talk later! Right now, we gotta deal with these buckets of bolts!
Zaslav is a planet-sized machine who has wiped out most of the multiverse with a spray of toxic gas and plans to destroy what’s left using a device known as the Dimension Hopper. Zaslav has a voice that's both commanding and booming.
So, Huskell, you and your friends think that you can destroy me?
Well, you're wrong. (brief pause) Dead wrong.
All my Cylonixes, damaged. And the Dimension Hopper is still with Huskell and her friends! Bring them and the Dimension Hopper to me! I want them alive!
Frederick Husky II is Holly's uncle from Huskywood who once served under her deceased father King Harold. She assigns her uncle to take over duties of the kingdom as she and her friends set off for their final journey.
Happy fifteenth birthday, my wonderful niece!
I agree with the poodle. We have to do something before things get worse for that other Holly.
I will not let you down, Holly. Safe travels, everyone.
Spot is a beagle who invented the Dimension Hopper as a birthday present for Holly, not knowing that it'll be linked to the sinister Zaslav. He also serves as the assistant to Hilda Cottontail whenever she is performing magic tricks. Spot has a sort-of geeky inventor voice and it has to be at a medium-high pitch.
Holly, we've been to another world once before. Remember Shirley and that silent movie world of hers? We rescued her from that Sullivan guy?
I suggest that we should send her back to her dimension so that we can run a few more tests on the Dimension Hopper. Then, after a few days, we bring Huskell back to Huskywood and work together to take down that planet-sized freak! Sounds good, huh?
There's a map located at the bottom-right corner of the D.H. Press it, and it'll take us where we need to go.
The Acoracle is a guidance squirrel who is depicted as cranky and a couch potato. She reluctantly gives Holly and her friends tips on how to destroy Zaslav, claiming that it is their “destiny”. She is a spoof of the Oracle from The Matrix franchise. Her voice should resemble the character of Slappy Squirrel from Animaniacs. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mdqv5xIsFLM
(ecstatic) C'mon, Cowboys! Get 'im! Tackle 'im to the ground! Yeah! Touchdown! How does it feel now, Dolphins? Go back to the ocean where ya belong!
Hate to disappoint ya, kid, but I ain't got an answer for that.
Ah, Zaslav, that big ol' jawbreaka. I haven't heard that name in years. Can't really remember exactly what his weakness is. Guess it had somethin' to do with that, uh, Dimension Hip-pity-Hop, or whatever the hell it's called.
Mint is the secretary/caregiver of the Acoracle, a guidance squirrel who is always cranky and a couch potato. Unbeknownst to the Acoracle, however, she is a freedom fighter and, along with her friend Amity Blight, joins forces with Holly Husky and her friends in the fight to restore the crumbling multiverse. Mint has a British accent and has a medium-high pitch.
The Acoracle will see you now.
Look here, I know it all sounds far-fetched, but trust me, that weakness may be the only way Zaslav can be stopped.
I just got a call from a friend of mine. Zaslav will be targeting Imp City tomorrow, so we'd better move quick.
Amity Blight is a computer hacker/gunslinger and a friend of Mint’s who has also survived the multiverse. Amity resides in the abandoned Acme Labs in San Francisco, California. She later joins Holly and the gang in the fight to restore the multiverse and defeat Zaslav. Amity's voice is very reminiscent of Mae Whitman's Amity Blight from the Owl House TV show, of which this iteration is loosely based off of.
Nice shootin', Tex!
No, Holly, the honor's all mine. So, shall we get going?
Have we got some news for you. Zaslav's making his next move in Imp City tomorrow. Better get your guns ready, 'cause it's gonna be quite a fight.
Martha Rhodes is the younger sister of Shirley Rhodes whom Holly rescues from the crumbling Zaslav ship.
Yes, it's me! Now can you please get me outta here?
I'm OK, Shirley. That husky saved me.
(sniffles) Thank you.
