Squirrel And Hedgehog [North Korean Animation] English Dubbing (Main Weasels)

Squirrel And Hedgehog [North Korean Animation] English Dubbing (Main Weasels)

Project Overview

I've previously released a casting call for female voice actors to play the parts of two important characters, so it's about time I open the men's roles!

With an all-male cast, the Weasel Empire undergoes power struggles between the Emperor Jirochito with his Imperial Army and The Rage led by Commander Yamada, one wanting peace with Flower Hill and the other wanting war, a conflict in which Geumsaegi must turn the favors to Flower Hill's side.

Now then, there will be a variety of characters, so I'm hoping to expect the very best of your ability to voice act along with creativity to give characterization and life to these characters! Be sure to have good microphone quality, emotions, and fun!

Emperor Jirochito is the ruler of the Weasel Empire, the Commander of the Imperial Army, and the key to bringing peace between them and Flower Hill in contrast to "The Rage", making him a very important and recurring character of the show; although he did attempt to justify a war with Flower Hill to get The Rage the disband and bring back unity to the military. He's frequently in conversation with Geumsaegi, so he often reveals some of his own philosophy and perspective in extended speeches to him. When experiencing too must shock, Jirochito would sometimes fall unconscious, happening a few times throughout the series.

Jirochito hasn't been a good fighter in comparison to some of his military officers, so there is no need to have him sounding tough or menacing. Instead, he should be sounding more in terms of tone: calm, clever, and easily emotional. Because of this, I would suggest a medium-high to high pitched voice in the male range, somewhat similar to your typical anime protagonist voice, but there are many routes you could take with coming up with a voice to fit him.

  • (After defending his pet bird, Emperor Jirochito talks in a kind and sweet manner about his duty as the ruler of the Weasel Empire. The tone here needs to convince Geumsaegi that he's quite open to peace, even for Flower Hill) Startling for the wicked, of course! Big or small, I must always seek to protect the subjects of my domain! They’re like my children, and I only want what’s best for them. I believe every father should do more to care for their young, even those from Flower Hill. (innocently chuckles for about three second.)

  • (Weasel forces led by Manguko barged into Jirochito's room, both surprised and enraged of this unexpected visit and kidnapping) Hey!!! What the hell is going on, Manguko?! (for clarification, Jirochito should be speaking of this line in anger too) P-Protection?! (While his hospital bed is being transported away from its original position, Jirochito throws a tantrum and bawls all over the bed) No, no, no, no, no!!! Stop, stop, STOP IIIITTT!!! Release me at once!!!

  • (The Emperor is deeply annoyed by the press conference after being pressured into answer for the Mice Army's presence, beginning to complain about their persistence in getting answers from him) This is why I hate the media so much...I gave them what they wanted, statements for peace and love, but this is the kind of response I get from them regardless?! (Geumsaegi, at his side, begins to answer and explain the situation to him along with the reporters' perspectives) Hmm...you think it's the Mice Army that had them worried, but on what grounds? (Geumsaegi then convinces him that they need to convince them first before putting luck into their trust for him) Alright, then head on over to R&D1 and we'll see just how convincing we are.

Dr. Blackweasel

Role assigned to: avenir

Dr. Blackweasel is a cunning weasel who recovered Mulmangcho and Yelipalip after Katame's death as well as convincing others to help advance his own interests. With schemes equal or greater than Mulmangcho's attempts, Dr. Blackweasel proves himself to me a major problem for our protagonists as he joins the fun of attempting to expose Geumsaegi as a traitor.

Like Jirochito, Dr. Blackweasel himself is not an expert fighter or holds any combat prowess, but there's no doubt that he's smarter than him. Earning the title of Doctor, Dr. Blackweasel is educated, intelligent, and very gentlemanly which should be reflected in his voice. Ideally, his voice should be set and ranging from medium to deep, depending on which type of gentleman you'd prefer to do, maybe a fancy noble from the past or the old proper professor from your college course?

  • (Dr. Blackweasel should be in a happy and calm state now that not only is Jirochito captured, but he's now at his mercy, allowing him to talk down on him all he wants along with Manguko) Sir, we are merely doing what is necessary to cure you of your mental illness. Let's see if it's gotten worse or not, can you tell me my name?

  • (Taking cover alongside Mice and Weasel soldiers, Dr. Blackweasel soon finds a metal robot called a Sturgeon being deployed outside the small base) Hmm...what is that strange device over there? ...You're right, it's a Sturgeon! Hey, you go and lead the capture!

  • (At times, even the doctor can lose his temper and rage on. Dr. Blackweasel commands a failing defense and quickly gets angered and begins to yell) A helicopter?! Sound the alarm!!! What are you all waiting for?! FIRE WITH EVERYTHING YOU'VE GOT!!!

Manguko

Role assigned to: deleted32880

Manguko's a land officer who joins Dr. Blackweasel's efforts after being reminded of what he owes to the Josan Commander and kidnaps Jirochito when motivated to take the title of Commander himself.

This military officer should have a strong first impression of his might when infiltrating the hospital, so Manguko should speak similarly to a drill sergeant, with power and will. At the same time, there should be some value of age to his voice to justify the short flashback of him being in his younger days. His voice should range from medium to deep, you have many routes you can choose from as well, such as a Paul Warburton's Joe Swanson/Kenny voice, your typical drill sergeant from an army training video, or anything else I haven't mentioned that you think you can base his voice off of.

  • (A noisy phone awakes Manguko from his sleep) ...Grrr, why's the phone ringing? That blasted noise...ugh, Army Commander here. (The conversation advances and hears the caller's request, soon angering him and calling them out on their impotence) ...What?! I need to search for some enemies? ...Isn't that what the search team does?! Hah, they can't even catch a few measly guys?

  • (This is where Manguko is convinced by the Josan Commander, accompanied by Mulmangcho and Yelipalip, to join forces with Dr. Blackweasel against the Emperor) ...Who are you?! ...Okay? So, what do you want from me? Capture the Commander himself, r-really? ...Well, on the other hand, why not me as the Commander? Fine, I'll play this little game of yours!

  • (Manguko's forces roll out as he announces the mission loud and clear) Attention! Enemies have infiltrated the hospital! The Commander is in grave danger! Protect the Emperor and capture the enemies! I repeat, protect the Emperor and capture the enemies!

Yamada

Role assigned to: Anthony LoGatto

Yamada is the Commander of The Rage who shows deep hatred for the Emperor himself, often times calling him a coward and "His Impotence" behind his back. As the leader, he's responsible for commanding and motivating his troops to take arms against the Emperor's orders and follow his own, earning many comrades to his forces shouting "The Rage rages on!"

Yamada should be medium to high due to his stature and body shape and toughened from being a military commander. What's to be expected from Yamada should be the reflection of his high expectations, ability to motivate, and the previously mentioned hatred for the Emperor and his Imperial Army.

  • (Yamada yells furiously after his plans have been foiled by Keunsatcho) Damn it! Useless, traitorous rat bastards!!! (Soon, he begins to calm down and groan before beginning his motivational speech to rally the troops to continue fighting for him despite the military failure) I should have you all executed for this...but, let me ask you all a question first: What is it that "The Rage" does? Wrong, "The Rage" simmers! "His Impotence" has no idea of the trump card we possess. So long as we possess the atoll, we'll wipe them out!

  • (Yamada and Katame are in a room alone whilst confronted with an opportunity to meet the Emperor for talks) ...What is this? The Emperor himself wants to initiate talks? Hmm...looks like you're right. But, maybe his tone changed towards Flower Hill. In the state we're in, we can't afford to lose this opportunity. We can't endure another attack by the Empire. The risk is simply too great. General, take a letter and copy down what I say. Ahem, "Dear Emperor, The Rage agrees to make arrangements for your arrival..."

  • (When Geumsaegi was sent in Jirochito's place, Yamada became extremely enraged over his plan being foiled from this, once again pinning the blame on his hated enemy) That bastard Jirochito! Sending his ex-Flower Hill lackey to do his dirty work! Why were we ruled over by such a damn coward?! Our plans are foiled! GOD DAMN IT!!! ...HOPE?! NEVER!!! WHAT HOPE CAN POSSIBLY BE LEFT?!?!

Katame

Role assigned to: Ste Holland

Katame is an old Weasel who is a proud military general for The Rage and dreams of enslaving Flower Hill's population. Eventually, he teams up with the three survivors of the fleet, Mulmangcho, Mulsajo, and Yelipalip in his attempts to help out The Rage as a loyal servant.

This weasel should sound more like an aging war veteran with hints of a rasp and gravel in his voice, obviously not one of the younger characters. From age and body type, Katame should most likely settle at medium to deep while the auditioner should be able to transition from a friendly neighbor to a cheating scumbag while in his voice for a lot of his scenes.

  • (In his talks with Geumsaegi, he begins to debate over the little Commandment and the Emperor) It's not that we don't believe that Emperor Jirochito is interested in Flower Hill, but his recent actions contradict what you say! Always shown desire for Flower Hill, you say? Prove it. ...Indeed, but could you elaborate more? ...But why? The Rage was more than willing to listen to the Emperor's concerns, why the need for the false assassination?

  • (Meeting him while sitting near a lake, he starts a friendly conversation with him without realizing his true intentions of hanging out here) Geumsaegi? Fancy seeing you here! ...Oh, so you can fish? ...Ah~, lucky you! I assume that you're the Commander's little favorite now that negotiations went well? ...Indeed, I'm sure you'll be more than happy to see Flower Hill wiped off the map.

  • (After hearing the Mice's reports, Katame is quick to judge with a fiery temper in the current situation) WHAT?! Why you incompetent---! Go! Seal off every exit! After him, now!!!

Tabasuko

Role assigned to: Sean Letourneau

Sergeant Tabasuko is a Weasel military officer who's been training and overseeing the Squirrelsuit division. He's also associated with the resistance within the military that wants to continue the invasion of Flower Hill, turning him into an antagonist for Geumsaegi. He's very confident in his own abilities and has strong pride as a Weasel, claiming their dominance in the field of combat when told of another species's combat prowess and taking pride in boasting his Squirrelsuits.

Tabasuko is a fiery and energetic character, so get ready for some enthusiasm for many scenes, including a couple of fights with Geumsaegi. His voice should be ranging from medium-high to medium-deep as well.

  • Ah, you've finally arrived, Special Commandment. I'm Sergeant Tabasuko. Yeah yeah, Emperor's orders and stuff, we know it all. You're here to inspect the new equipment we've been developing, so follow my lead. I think the Emperor is going to be impressed when you report our current progress.

  • (Irritated by Geumsaegi when comparing his own kind with the Squirrelsuits, and Mice in extension, Tabasuko perceives him as either a phony or an arrogant fool, defending his and the Weasels' combat abilities in defense) You're underestimating us, Special Commandment! Sure, I'll admit that the Mice need some improvements here are there, but us Weasels are talented and born fighters! (Geumsaegi continues to assert his fighting prowess, making Tabasuko aggressive over the ordeal and taking it as a challenge, taking off his clothes as he prepares for a match to prove his might) ...Huh, does it now?! A Squirrel, able to take on a Weasel?! You've got some nerve saying those words! Let's just see how true your words are after I split your skull open!

  • (This takes place after the match, leaving Tabasuko in exhaustion and defeat) Huff...huff...you're one tough little Squirrel, I won't lie there. You've impressed me today. (Geumsaegi takes back his previous insults, like Tabasuko fighting like a dead cow) ...Damn straight!
