Southampton: A Musical in Two Acts (CONCEPT ALBUM RECORDING: RECASTING)
Project Overview
Description
This casting call is for a musical I finished writing in September of 2021 called Southampton. Both myself and the show's lyricist, Erin Ledwith, are hoping to produce a concept recording for the musical. The initial round of casting was mostly successful, with many of the actors turning in their recordings on time. However, some performers would depart from the project, leaving holes in the cast recording during vital parts. As such, a second casting call has been created to recast these absent parts, as well as bolstering the ensemble.
Here is the general synopsis:
Charles McCrae is a pessimistic yet compassionate dock-washer in the English port town of Southampton who wishes for nothing more than to get enough money for him and his wife-to-be Olivia LeBlanc to move back to her hometown of Stockholm, Sweden. This all changes following a chance encounter with a serial killer named Raphael von Martin, after which Charles and a group of fellow survivors decide to exact their revenge upon him.
Requirements:- Must be at least 16 years old by the deadline (January 25th, 2023)
- Must have a good quality microphone & a sufficient audio recording software. Headphone mics & phone mics are not permitted.
- Provide a resume of your previous credits if possible
- Audition cuts must be 16 to 32 bars long and must be from an aria/solo number from a theatrical work that initially premiered before 2013. For example, "For Forever" from Dear Evan Hansen is not allowed for an audition, but "Think of Me" from Phantom of the Opera is acceptable. Audition songs may not be from Southampton.
- You must have Discord. This is where we will organize the project.
Payment will be issued out as a fixed-price structure. The payment listed on your part is the final payment after the recording is completed. Landing a named role (Charles, Olivia, Raphael, Victor, Alice, Elizabeth, or Ernesto) will net you a $10 down-payment from that amount. If you instead are placed in an ensemble role, you will receive a down-payment of $5.
Do not record anything for the project until the down-payment has been sent. This is to ensure that you will be receiving the money. Once your audio is recorded and sent, there may be a gap in time for the final payment to be sent. This is because I am funding this recording out-of-pocket and I am not always able to rely on my workplace giving me sufficient hours to fund each audio submission immediately.
Payment will be done via PayPal or CashApp. IF YOU HAVE NEITHER, DO NOT EXPECT PAYMENT. If you so wish, you can opt out of pay by stating so in the description of your audition.

2.) In the description of your audition, provide your name, age, a link to your resume if possible, and your Discord tag.
