Lucky was originally a sick human boy named Asher Ansel but was forced to participate in Project Rebirth, a project created by GUN to replicate Project Shadow ten years after the Arc Disaster. His father was forced to head the project but despised having to experiment on his son. They used a red chaos emerald and some of shadow's blood to create Project Rebirth. Asher's new form was a cat as cats are known for their agility and speed, the perfect weapon. Asher's father got tired of Project Rebirth and exploded himself, some GUN soldiers, and a lab. Project Rebirth was canceled due to fear of the public discovering the truth and Asher was put into stasis for forty years. Asher was freed by Sonic and Tails who gave him the name Lucky as he was Lucky to survive.
