Project Overview
Sometimes you have to take a step back and watch everyone else. To realize that their lives are as beautifully complex and vivid, filled with people they love and their own troubles that they hide for the sake of saving face. To do this is to Sonder. Follow the Rogard family and watch how life intertwines and grows, and just how beautiful another person's life can be.

An 18 year old stenographer. Born blind, Sarah has known the feeling of being avoided and stared for as long as she could remember. Finding solace in books, she fell in love with snarky and strong female characters, shaping much of how she interacts with the world around her. Sharp minded with a sharp tongue, most people pass her off as being kind and intelligent, but the few that are close to her know how funny and observant she really is.
“You’re really willing to teach me to dance? You’re aware I can’t see, right? I’d rather not trample over your feet because I’m not exactly graceful. You were there when I ran into the wall the other day.”
“You’ve got a very soothing voice… you sound surprised. Do you not get compliments about your voice?”
“I’d say ‘I see’ but that’s kind of a self deprecating joke. I can’t see you, but from what you say, I can understand how being seen at face value can feel worse than not being seen at all.”

Voice: Mid-range.
A 17 year old student with a big heart. Johanna didn't mean to fall into the Rogard's family house, but when your best friends are your biggest protectors, they bring you into a place that is safe. Childhood friends with Elisavet and Amora Rogard, it was only natural to live together when Johanna's grandparents found google searches questioning her sexuality. She doesn't quite know where she falls, but she knows that regardless, she's a sinner in their eyes and the child that was missing from the Rogard family.
[defensive] "And what is that supposed to mean? I'll have you know, I can mange just fine on my own! ... I always have."
[defeated] "There are some days I don't even know if what I'm doing is right. Amora, you already have everything figured out. Honestly? I'm a little jealous."
[slightly annoyed/teasing] "For pete's sake-- you're twins. You both look very similar. I don't think it's possible for one of you to be hotter than the other... actually, no, I think 'Mora wins."
Voice type: Midtone, gruff.
A 21 year old soldier in the US Marines. Short tempered and keen to give everyone the cold shoulder, Arek is far from the persona he puts up as the top ranked soldier of his class. Very few people truly get under his skin, but the person who does has the unenjoyable task of dealing with his explosive and implosive nature in the end. Prone to drinking and smoking in excess.
[exasperated] "Is it too much to ask to be called by my first name? … Hipster isn’t an upgrade, devil child.”
[trying to keep calm, clearly angry] “Okay, okay, let’s just take a moment here to assess the situation. We’re in the middle of nowhere, with no way to contact anyone or any supplies, and probably gonna die out here because /you/ couldn’t bite your tongue for five fucking minutes!”
“I need a drink. Nope. I need something to smoke. Nope. Both. I need both.”

Voice: Soft, mid-to-low. Quirky vocal pattern.
A 18 year old college student. There are very few things Amora never questioned as a child. One, she loved to cook. Two, she hated being mistaken for her sister. Three, she was really, really gay. She takes pride in her work, and does everything she can to make sure those around her are at their best even if it hurts her in the end. Definitely the one to have you eat your feelings and remind you why food is the best medicine.
Warning: This character is gay. If it will bother you to portray a gay character, this role isn't for you.
"Hey. Hey! Stop that. Leave that oven shut or the souffle will fall! If it falls, I'm shoving you in there, Soren!" (Soren: Soar-en)
[comforting] "Jo, look at me. Do you remember the first time you spent the night when you were ten, and you crawled into my bed because you were scared of the storm outside? I promised you that I would protect you. That promise hasn't changed. I will always protect you."
"Pfft, you may have the hips out of the two of us, but these abs don't lie-- ... So what if they're contoured on? It's not a lie! A few more crunches and I'll be stacked!"

Voice: Soft, mid-to-high.
A 18 year old book shop employee. Commonly the butt of her twin sister's jokes seeing as she tends to have more blonde moments (mostly because she isn't paying attention and is fantisizing about a story she read or wants to write or a game she wants to make). A big nerd all around. Video games, anime, cosplay, fandoming-- you name it, she probably knows something about it. Kind hearted, intelligent, very driven in her pursuit of owning her own nerd haven.
[angry] "If that bastard comes back into my store and tells me how to run my business, I'm going to shove that sonic screwdriver up his-- No! I will not hush! I am more than capable of running this store without someone coming in and telling me a man could do it better!"
[flirty/light hearted] "Oh, I could never, Mister Connelly. Only ladies of the night call men by their first names before the first date~"
[passionate] "Don't you dare insinuate that Deadpool is simply straight! He has had canon relationships with women, but he's also flirted with men. He's at least bi, or pansexual, and nothing you say can convince me otherwise."

Voice: Mid-to-low, more bass-y than anything.
Very slight Southern drawl.A 26 year old engineer. Born and raised on a farm in the south, Booker found solace in technology when his family life went awry. By the age of ten, he was able to build a radio from the bottom up in perfect condition. Winning a full ride scholarship his senior year, he left the farm behind and never looked back. Upon graduating college and opening shop with a partner, he thought he had everything figured out. Only recently has his life started to get turned upside down again with some sketchy dealings in his part of town...
[subtle flirting] "Don't believe I've ever seen you around here before. Got a name, Miss...?"
"[disgruntled noise] Elisavet, you're killing me. The irony of my name isn't lost on me. I'm not dressing up for Halloween as a video game character."
[nonchalant, pretending to pass it off as nothing] "It's... a cat. [beat] Yeah. A cat. That place you're looking into has a rat problem. Cats eat rats. Problem solved. She's a force to be recogned with if you have string."
A 22 year old nurse working in a military hospital. Runa grew up in the theater with her parents on stage, and her mother gaining praise for being the sweet and kind person she was. It sparked something within the girl, pushing her to excel in school in order to go into the medical field. Graduating at 16, and college by 20, she’s a bright, hopeful, driven young woman.
[gentle and warning] “Ah-uh! Don’t even think about moving that arm until we reset your shoulder.”
[flustered] “W-What? No! I don’t dote on him any more than I do any other patient. He just… ends up here a lot more often than the other soldiers.”
[calm, even, threatening undertone] “You ever call him anything but his rank or his name again, I’ll make sure those stitches end up infected and you lose the arm.”
Voice type: looking for something more husky for Christa.
A 21 year old soldier in the US Marines. Struggling with BPD for most of her life, Christa was a rather problemed child growing up. No real focus, always in trouble. It wasn’t until she got into the ROTC in high school she found some structure to help her, in combination with medication. In the military, she is always head to head with the men in her platoon, trying to prove herself. The only real competition she sees is the one she grew up with, and what she wouldn’t give to kick him when he’s down.
“Look who's talking! You think you’re so great but really you’re just trying to show how much you’re not like your father! Welcome to the real world! You’re just as much your father as I am mine.”
“How did we end up in this mess? I just wanted to be a mechanic for awesome cars and now, [pause] I’m getting drunk in the middle of the desert, debating if karaoke is a good idea… It’s never a good idea.”
“Keep your confession to yourself until we get back Fuckboy. If we get out of here, you can hate and love me all you want over a beer.”
Voice type: mid-tone.
A 19 year old dance instructor. Growing up, Amir was the odd duck in a family of fairly graceful swans. It wasn’t until he hit puberty that his body lost the baby fat and his once ‘cute’ face turned into ‘handsome and good looking’. Since then he has struggled with girls using him as eye candy, to which he wants nothing to do with. Instead, he took to learning to dance, honing the grace that comes with the name Rogard.
“Is there a way I can go back to being fifteen and ugly? Mom, these girls are going to kill me. I know I shouldn’t be complaining, but it’s a bit much...”
[hesitant] “Excuse me, would you happen to know where the Reference section is? I’ve never been to this library before and--” [suddenly flustered] “--Er, it’s fine, I can figure it out. Sorry.”
“It’s just frustrating. She’s missing out on so much and she knows it. It kills me she can’t see what a sunset looks like or fireworks or… any of it. She doesn’t even know what she looks like… or what I look like… It’s not fair.”
Voice type: Deep and soft, from the chest.
A 26 year old soldier for the US Navy. An intimidating man who towers over many, but couldn’t be less of a threat. He’s clumsy and loyal, willing to do what is right over what is easy, which more often than not gets him hurt and in the hands of the very capable Doctor Rogard.
"Oh, this? [short, dry laugh] It came from a tussle with one of the other privates. Couldn't let the guy get away with disrespecting a civilian! Makes the rest of us look bad."
[embarrassed] “Ah, well, y’see… it’s not like I’m trying to wind up here so often rather than I don’t really mind it so much. I get to see you! Just, uh, not always the best circumstances… speaking of, I think I might have a concussion.”
“You know, if things had been different, I would have wanted to start a bakery. I know, it’s kinda stupid, but I always had a lot of fun helping my parents out in the kitchen as a kid. If I had to do it over, that’s what I’d probably do. Then again, I wouldn’t have met Runa, so I know I did something right!”
